976897 tn?1379167602 It would appear from some papers published that Heart disease in women used to be a lot less in numbers than in Men, especially up to a certain age. I think this is why so many Doctors dismissed heart problems in women with typical symptoms and some still do. However, it has been realised that since women have taken the roles they have in the work place, heart disease is definitely on the increase for them. It seems the more stressful the job, the worse their condition becomes.

But there are also studies showing that women process memory formation and emotion through the same brain centers, leading to better recall of events because of the link to emotion. Those of us who teach--especially if we teach biology!--know that coupling emotion and learning is one of the best ways to help students retain information.
Avatar m tn Women have different, more subtle symptoms of heart disease than men. Mild chest discomfort or none at all is possible along with back pain, fatigue and nausea. Because you have the number one risk factor, being a smoker, you need to get checked out. Call a local hospital and ask about your situation, they may have a program for you, but don't wait until it's too late.
Avatar n tn s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to recommend another iteration of the same vaccine to pregnant women in 2010/11 may be argued as more than gross negligence -but rather- an act of willful misconduct." In addition to roundly condemning Dr.
1027802 tn?1253122106 I have always said that the most intelligent doctors are the ones that can say "I don't know". There is not one person that can know everything in the world. That is why there are books and specialists. The problem is finding those that can say that. Especially the specialists. For some reason they think they have to know it all, but they don't It is especially infuriating knowing that docs tend to discount women more than men. (Even if they are women themselves!

The biopsy only goes into the right side. Fibroscans are not yet FDA approved, but you can find them, depending where you live. I am a 1a Stage 1 (after tx) was a stage 1-2 before treatment (tx). Let us know. You have options, but it is good to get a biopsy or a fibroscan.
Avatar n tn If stenosis of the mitral valve has occurred, giving a murmur, it could be the result of an underlying cause by infection or birth defect, making the heart work much harder than it needs to. This can lead to eventual heart failure. Of course heart disease can also cause the heart to adapt, enlarge, and force the mitral valve out of shape, making a murmur. So while a murmur itself doesn't give the pain, you can obviously have heart problems and pain while a murmur exists.
Avatar m tn s a new study and it needs further study, but the new suggested link to heart disease worries me (dad died at 56 of heart disease). I was diagnosed with HPV when a wart was removed in 2008, the latest I could have gotten it was 2005 (latest "new" partner and monogamous from then).
Avatar f tn unions, those marked by arguing and being angry, were more likely to feel depressed than happier partners, the women in the contentious relationships were more likely to develop high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar and other markers of what's known as "metabolic syndrome," said study author Nancy Henry, a doctoral candidate in clinical healthy psychology at the University of Utah.

According to a new study, women who experience a stillbirth or repeated miscarriages have a dramatically increased risk of heart attack later in life. Compared with women who never had a miscarriage, women who had more than three were about five times more likely to ever suffer a heart attack, the study found.
Avatar m tn I have'nt checked out the link you sent, but I will. I do know that when having a heart attack you can also have anxiety.I've had anxiety for more than 30 years, so I do know the symptoms because I've had most all of them. Some people do and some people don't have anxiety when having a heart attack. Also, many of us can have different symptoms. I did not have the common symptoms of chest pain, sweating, arm pain, none of that, not even anxiety when it was happening.
616450 tn?1228433627 Folks, I have a really good question and I'm sure it's been asked on here before, BUT.... If Graves' is an autoimmune disease that CAUSES hyperthyroidism and toxic goiter, what happens to the disease itself after they have killed my thyroid? If that's all a result of the disease, where does the rest of the autoimmune disease go? Just killing the thyroid is one part of it, right? What should be done for the actual CAUSE itself?
