976897 tn?1379167602 With so much emphasis put on breast cancer, the problem with heart disease is not of any worry to most women. After raising 4 kids with a full time job and a husband that worked many years out of town, I am now raising 3 young grandchildren with a full time job. My day starts at 4:45am, at work by 6:45am, home by 4pm, start dinner, homework, dishes, laundry, walking, pet duties, bath time for 4. Maybe in bed by 10pm. Should I worry that I am making my situation worse by this?
Avatar m tn I am starting to worry that I have heart disease but not sure if it is just a result of stress. I don't have med insurance so I am not sure how to get this checked out but I am definitely concerned.
Avatar n tn ” The more of it in your blood, the lower your risk of heart disease. So bringing up HDL levels has got to be good for health. Or so the theory went. Now, a new study that makes use of powerful databases of genetic information has found that raising HDL levels may not make any difference to heart disease risk. People who inherit genes that give them naturally higher HDL levels throughout life have no less heart disease than those who inherit genes that give them slightly lower levels.
Avatar n tn If stenosis of the mitral valve has occurred, giving a murmur, it could be the result of an underlying cause by infection or birth defect, making the heart work much harder than it needs to. This can lead to eventual heart failure. Of course heart disease can also cause the heart to adapt, enlarge, and force the mitral valve out of shape, making a murmur. So while a murmur itself doesn't give the pain, you can obviously have heart problems and pain while a murmur exists.

Avatar f tn Does having a 45% ejection fraction on the stress test means one has a heart disease? Other symptoms includes chest pain, SOB when climbing upstairs, nearly syncopal event every time SOB and tachycardia happens. Stress test showed severely tachycardic, nearly syncopal episode on exertion and 45% ejection fraction. Ecg showed Borderline left atrial abnormality and the echo, according to the readiologist, showed increased in bulk. (Which was neglected on the final report).
Avatar n tn I also have no immediate family memebers with heart disease (grandparents, mother, father, sisters). I do suffer from GERD and take 2 x 40mg Nexium daily. A recent scoped showed everything was fine. Despite all of this i'm very concerned about how accurate that stress test was. Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated. .

1661682 tn?1313135396 so I couldn't get an appointment with a cardiologist till 22nd November but I'm about to ring him as my palpitations are getting really bad. They come on just from sitting down. Its also making it hard for me to breath. I'm starting to think maybe my heart isn't coping with the strain from the pregnancy. Or maybe my heart murmur is getting worse or worse than that and I've got the same heart disease my brother has got.
Avatar f tn Words like 'trivial' and 'mild in reference to valve leakage I think can be thought of as normal. No one has heart valves that are 100% efficient. I'd not worry a bit about it, but it's good to have a reference point going forward. If the diagnosis would shift to 'moderate' or 'severe', you would know you have an issue.

Avatar f tn He died last September of heart disease that none of us knew he had. Do you always have heart disease if you have a heart attack? Were we just too dumb to know that?
Avatar n tn People with lupus of mixed connective tissue disease are at higher risk for develping coronary or valvular heart disease. Given that your symptoms have been going on for some time now, albeit, atypical probably warrant further workup. The most concerning would be the chest pain, although, you describe it as atypical. Unfortunately, women tend to present atypically and I would hate write this off to something else without doing a thorough work-up.
Avatar f tn I am at 25 year old women was born at 25 weeks premature in 1989 weighing 1 pound.
Avatar m tn s a new study and it needs further study, but the new suggested link to heart disease worries me (dad died at 56 of heart disease). I was diagnosed with HPV when a wart was removed in 2008, the latest I could have gotten it was 2005 (latest "new" partner and monogamous from then).
Avatar f tn Thank you for your time. I know that my LAD has no calcification. The number was zero. Your number is extremely high. I know that I have plaque halfway down the abdominal aorta vessel. Avatar n tn There are some people born with heart disease, called congenital heart disease. The acquired form most commonly found in women is secondary to obstructive coronary atherosclerosis, and can develop in young women, especially if they have other risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, smoke or have a strong family history of heart disease.
Avatar f tn Plus, your age makes heart disease very unlikely plus the fact that women of child bearing age are generally protected from heart disease would make heart disease very unlikely.
