We did have Cobra when I left my job, but that was too expensive $1300.00/ month. With our Cobra we didn't need referrals, but with Oxford we need referrals. 1310633 tn?1430224091 ll pay more, small-business will be forced to pay more. And when small-business is forced to pay higher taxes, they'll reduce their labor-force to compensate for the lost revenue incurred from paying said higher taxes. It's a vicious circle, of that I think we'll all agree. In theory, I like Universal Healthcare, but in practice I think it's a pipe-dream, as the system is fraught with abusers. Complete system reform.
4806014 tn?1424501878 Hector, thanks for the insurance info - I will get on the insurance exchange and see what they have to offer. I think they can charge more for Age and for Additional Coverage without saying they are denying coverage for a pre-existing health condition. I will do the comparisons and see if there is anything comparable in price. As it is I have to pay kaiser a lot for a high level plan. That's right -Kaiser does not refer pre-transplant patients at all.
206807 tn?1331936184 The Obama administration had been absorbing constant political attacks about the so-called job-killing nature of Obamacare, with its complex employer reporting requirements and fines for large companies that don't offer their workers insurance. 1284791 tn?1271994267 My husband and I formed our own husband/wife group (he owns his own business, I went to work for him, he pays employee taxes on me). Our accountant helpd us with the paperwork. After we set all of this up we applied for group coverage. We did this in order to get maternity coverage, which is otherwise unavailble in Texas. To our delight we saw that we could select anf IVF rider. We weren't sure we would need it, but figured it was a definite possiblity, so we opted for it.
Avatar f tn Beginning in October, individuals in New York City who now pay $1,000 a month or more for coverage will be able to shop for health insurance for as little as $308 monthly. With federal subsidies, the cost will be even lower. Supporters of the new health care law, the Affordable Care Act, credited the drop in rates to the online purchasing exchanges the law created, which they say are spurring competition among insurers that are anticipating an influx of new customers.

Avatar f tn I am also a small business owner. Try getting direct insurance through blue cross or united or something. Avatar f tn Hi all. Does anyone know the answer to this... Let's say I think I'm going into labor and they tell me to go in to l&d but I get sent home. How does that work with health insurance? I just picture going into the er and just walking in the door leaves you broke (or at least with a nice copay lol). Will that be the same for being seen in L&D? Thanks for anyone who has any insight on this!
Avatar n tn I am having a child very soon, and I just purchased a business. I want to be able to build a life for myself and my family, but it is a constant fear that if I incur any large hospital bills they will be able to take everything I work for. Right now I am covered by Medicaid. It is frustrating because I am able to pay for insurance, but can't get it, and I know Medicaid is only a temporary solution. I desperately want to have health and life insurance and feel as though I have no options.

We will all suffer.

Avatar f tn Hi Frrecks, I'm sorry that I don't know anything about the insurance, since we still have private insurance. It has to be so difficult to set aside the financial worries and concentrate on feeling better. I do know a lot of the DMD companies have programs to assist anyone without insurance. As for my private insurance cost, my employer just finished the open enrollment for next year and here is what I will be paying for my health insurance - $238.00 a month for me and my spouse.
