I am 67 years old male of good health . I have type 2 diabitis, Hepertension . Both are under total control with medications (Glucotrol XL 10 mg and Metformin 1000 mg 2 times daily, Also Benicar 10 mg and duriatic pill 25 mg ) I never dink nor smoke and I have no evident health problems .
I am currently taking 300 mg Wellbutrin XL daily. It has been recommended that I go back to Prozac for my recurring bulimia and I agree as this drug seemed to help me in my 20's with the disease.
My question is - how do I safely transition from/wean off Wellbutrin while also trying to get back to a theraputic level of Prozac? I hear that Wellbutrin is difficult to get off of and am a bit concerned about my depression.

My dr, said she looked it up in her book, and Wellbutrin XL 150mg, is only prescribed for SAD and to quit smoking. She did not want to prescribe the XL at all no mater what I said. She prescribed me Regular Wellbutrin 100mg twice per day. I do not want the regular wellbutrin as it will make me shakey, and I will not follow through with taking 2 pills per day...
My boyfriend's doctor has just recently prescribed Prozac, Wellbutrin XL and Effexor for his depression. My question is, is it safe to take all of these prescriptions at the same time?

I was prescribed 300 mg xl of bupropion for anxiety that comes from a neurlogical problem in my eyes called Nystagmus. I think side effects of bupropion cause blurred vision and problems with one eye not moving in conjunction with the other which is horrible in addition to Nystagmus. I've lived with this because I was told bupropion is the least likeliest of pills to cause sexual disfunction. Is this true?
I take plavix, lipitor, toprol-xl & diovan. Have been taking them for 2 1/2 years after stent implantation. Any ideas on how long you should be left on each of these..or are they classified as 'health maintenance'. No real side effects to speak of.
My LDL is 223 and before 222. when taking toprol XL 50-75 mg. My cholesterol is 177 when I am not on antihypertensive drugs. Is there any documentation that proves Toprol XL can elevate cholesteral levels.

My suggestion is take a list of the medications that you have taken in the past to your new psychiatrist. They can then tell what classes of medications these medications fit into. I am only twenty four but I have already tried a whole slew of medications and like you some made me sick, some more suicidal etc. Medications can vary greatly even amongst the same drug classification.
I've been taking Wellbutrin 150mg XL once a day for over 2 weeks and while I'm fine in the morning, the depression sinks in later in the afternoon and all I want to do is eat cake, ice cream, sugary junk foods, and sleep. Why isn't the Wellbutrin keeping me "up" all day?
Is craving sugary foods suggestive of serotonine deficiency? After I eat them I immediately get a jolt of energy and keep going but the problem is that I always overeat and already gained 10lb.
Just looking for anymore information or advise about withdraws from Fioricet / I have been taking this medication from years from Migrain headaches, it's seemed the longer I was on it the less it helped so I would increase my doses because I could not get rid of my headaches the other day I just stopped using it because it was like just this non stop headache.
I am a type 2 diabetic and I concerned about fasting (religious) and taking glipizide. I have been on metformin for over 14 years and have had to recently add glucotrol to my regimen. I do not have any low blood sugar symptoms at all and I am scared of the time I have to restrain from eating. Is any one else ever dealt with this?

My pharmacacy switched my "Toprol XL 50 mg" to a Generic one called "Metoprolol Succinate ER 50 mg" (manufactured by Sandoz) in December 2007. I have been on some form of Beta Blockers for years and I thought nothing of it. Within a week I was at my eye doctor because my left eye went from 20/20 to 20/60 and was so blurry that I felt like I had suntan lotion or something in it. Since then I have been to so many doctors because things just kept getting worse.
Once at the hospital I was injected with adenosine (extremely unpleasant by the way), which only worsened the situation. Eventually, I was injected with toprol XL, which over the next 20 minutes decreased my heart rate to approximately 100 bpm. I was sent home within the next few hours, and prescribed daily tablets of toprol XL. Well, I took these beta blockers over the next week or so, but due to some chest pains and extreme fatigue I was taken off of them.
I have taken 50 mgs of toprol XL for 12-13 years. It is a very safe and a good medication in my opinion. The XL means that it has an Extended Life .. in other words one pill is supposed work for at least 24 hours i think... but anyway... I dont know why the doc would say just use it when your rate is fast.. if you took one a day ....your heart rate should stay pretty regular Id think.. but Im not a doctor... I dont really know about taking it occassionally... doesnt make alot of sense to me..
The information you all have provided here is greatly appreciated and not to mention very informative. I'm working on learning everything I can to help two people actually. They're a couple so it's very hard. But I know there are problems with addiction for both of them. I figure the more knowledge I have the more prepared I will be. I just wanted to write this to try and get some help if possible. About 3 years ago I was having extreme panic attacks and my Dr. put me on zoloft 50, then 100, well it worked wonderful and I was so relaxed that I couldn't get anything done so he put me on Wellbutrin XL 150 to try and even me out and the combination of the two worked wonderful together. Recently I decided to ween myself off of the Zoloft due to sexual and weight issues with this drug.
MY DOCTOR ABRUPTLY TOOK ME OFF OF TOPROL XL 25 MG AND SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN HAVING HORRIBLE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING SEVERE ANXIETY AND JITTERS...FEEL LIKE I WANT JUMP OUT OF MY SKIN. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR 4 WEEKS. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW LONG THIS LASTS? DOES ANYONE KNOW IF GABA HELPS? PLEASE HELP....I AM SOOO DESPERATE FOR HELP AND MY DOCTOR IS OF NO HELP OTHER THEN TO GIVE ME XANAX.
