glucose

Avatar n tn Hi. May I ask what the hypoglycemia test is?. Is it a glucose test? Is it best to have a glucose test after fasting?
Avatar n tn We have described best glucose levels in children as they grow and develop: Five and younger: Normal blood sugar targets are 100 to 200mg/dl. Age 5 to 11: Normal blood sugar targets are 70 to 150mg/dl. Fasting blood sugars should be nearer to 70mg/dL. Blood sugar after meals and before bedtime should be near 150mg/dL. Age 12 and older A healthy glucose level of age 12 and elder should be near 70mg/dl when fasting and 150mg/dl after meals.
Avatar f tn Hello, Children under five years old have a normal blood glucose range of 80 to 200 mg/dL. Five to eleven year old children have a range between 70 and 180 mg/dL. Children who are 12 years and older have a blood sugar range of 70 to 150 mg/dL. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn I didnt take take the glucose test.
Avatar n tn I insisted on another test. They did another in office test (fasting again) and I came back at 180. So they sent me for a 4 hour glcose tolerance test. Again it came back "normal" they did not share the results with me they left a message on my phone. I asked for a glcose moniter to test over time and they assuerd me I was fine and polietly refused. So bought one anyway and took my blood sugar after waking up, 1 hr after breakfast, and at 4:30 every afternoon.
Avatar f tn If you fail the glucose test means you have gestational diabetes thats what the glucose test is for
Avatar f tn How important is it to get the glucose test done. I have appointment in the morning and cant be botherd to go.
Avatar f tn After we eat, excess glucose is stored in the liver as glycogen to maintain normal glucose levels in our body. In GSD I, the enzyme needed to release glucose from glycogen is missing. When this occurs, a person cannot maintain his or her blood glucose levels and will develop hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) within a few hours after eating. The low levels of glucose in the blood of these individuals often result in chronic hunger, fatigue, and irritability.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed by a glucose test and a urine test. I have been a type 1 diabetic for 16 years now, and I think the fact that it was caught before it was out of control is why I have been able to do so well. Your pediatrician should be able to do a urine test and find out.
Avatar n tn stress could be another. There are variety of medications available for children with migraines. The specialist to work with in this area would be a pediatric neurologist with an interest in headache. Good luck.
15695260 tn?1549593113 The research followed participants for 15 years and tested children when they were very young. They believe this will help delay or prevent diabetes in those predisposed to develop it. https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=170637 Would you test your kids to find out if they are at high risk of developing Type 1 Diabetes?
Avatar n tn without any glucose. I underwent a fasting blood glucose test which showed a level of 5.3 mmol/l (95.4 mg/dl). today on testing my urine about 30 mins after 250ml of coke and 3 sweet biscuits there was NO glucose in the urine. Can anyone explain why the first test was positive?
Avatar f tn The doctor said I had glucose in my urine. She is going to retest me again in 2 weeks. I went in 2 weeks ago for the sugar test and passed with a 131 cutoff is 135. So my question is has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean I am going to develop gestational diabetes?? I am not over weight but I do have a bad ice cream habit...been known to eat a pint of ben and jerrys a nite!!! Any input would be appericated..thanxs!!
Avatar n tn ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?
Avatar n tn Most doctors will do a fasting glucose reading, perhaps a glucose tolerance test, or perhaps a hemoglobin a1c test, which would show the average glucose level in your body during a 3-month period. That really is the best test to find out whether your body is usually maintaining healthy glucose levels or not.
Avatar m tn Now When he had the fever doctor advised us to do a urine routine test and when i got the reports i was shocked to see ketone bodies (3+) in his urine but his glucose and protine was negative for urine test and he had no urine infection. Now when i looked through internet about the Ketones i found that it has something to do with Diabetes. I am very scared of this. No one in mine and my wifes family has diabetes and so i feel my son may not have this and that to he is so yuong to have this.
Avatar f tn Sometimes it shows in ur pee! But I'd wait for the blood work! It's ok don't stress.......think positive!
Avatar n tn It can take some time for you to feel OK as your body adjusts to new glucose levels as being normal again. So if you test and find that your glucose numbers are in the ideal range (70-126) before meals but still feel crummy, you may just have to wait for your body to adjust to being normal again.
Avatar m tn Yeah, but it's the fact that the blood glucose test strips were in there that worries me,not the water itself.....
Avatar f tn So I had to re-do the test. My doc told me when I did the test again I could drink water in between drinks of the glucose stuff. It helped tremendously. Ask your doc for options.
Avatar n tn I am so confused about this diabetes issue. I've been diagnosed 2 weeks ago; instructed to change diet and exercise; return to dr. in 3 months for BG test. She's hoping the diet/exercise will take levels down to normal. I don't understand why I'm not monitoring my sugar levels on daily basis? Also, to eat 3 meals a day 30-35 c arbs per meal; 2 snacks day; 15 grams or less of fat (chol. levels are high); I feel overwhelmed and confused with all these changes.
