glucosamine

Avatar m tn I don't use it, but my wife does. She is not HepC positive, it helps her with the arthritis she has in her knees and she doesn't get any side effects. Is it effective? Yes, without a doubt, in her case anyways. I don't see why it would be any different for a HepC person but read about it and make sure it's liver friendly.
Avatar f tn It might be wise to mention your idea to the vet. He/she may be able to give you some recommendations. I think the worst problem would be if your dog was allergic to shellfish....and the second problem would be a too-massive dose for the dog's weight. Otherwise, Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplements are generally without any side effects. Most dogs are quite happy on these supplements with no change to their general health.
1093971 tn?1257833640 If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar. The consensus, however, is CAUTION and only take glucosamine under the supervision of your doctor, especially if you have diabetes. And be sure to talk with your local pharmacist about potential drug interactions with other medications. Some reports have taking glucosamine to relieve arthritis may cause a rise in blood sugar levels.
Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems. I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product.

Avatar n tn Begin with 1/2 of a human adult dose twice to three times daily. If there are no side effects it can be increased to 3/4 to a full human dose. Other Chinese herbal formula's for degenerative joint disease with stiffness that may help are: Di Gu Pi San, and Shen Tong Zhu Yu Tang. This combination works synergistically, so they should help more if used together.
Avatar n tn However, in these small studies, they have found promising results in lessening the pain and bleeding episodes from endometriosis treated with arimidex. I would also just like to caution on the possible side effects of these drugs such as bone pains or fractures. Regards.
Avatar n tn a lot of pills but would rather do that than take drugs with bad side-effects (had really bad reaction to Celebrex). You can go to the website Arthritis Help For Me ******* for more info. I am trying to follow an alkaline pH diet as much as poss - but it's not easy, do drink alkaline water tho'. I'm trying to ionclude more veggies and juice and have wheatgress juice when I can. Want to get some of the juice powder suggested on that website - next payday.
Avatar m tn My daughter cuts up fresh ginger and boils it in water to make a very strong brew. She keeps this in the refrigerator and uses a spoon or so of the juice at a time to make ginger tea, to which she adds a little honey. In addition to making the tea, I also buy candied ginger. Sometimes I nibble on it and sometimes I chop it up and add it and the syrup to vanilla ice cream. You can also buy ginger in capsules.

Tramadol can cause physical and psychological dependence. The human body develops tolerance to the analgesic effects of Tramadol. Avatar f tn I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. Avatar n tn Margaret - You probably should not be feeding those to your dogs because they are not made for dogs. Admittedly, I tried that avenue once because it was cheaper than the "made for dogs" chondroiten and glucosamine that's recommended for larger dogs. It didn't produce any positive effects after one entire bottle so then, we tried arthritus meds. My american bull was experiencing a slight limp. The meds didn't do anything! Finally, I tried Phycox chews.
1922425 tn?1322702653 Hi andream5, my husband is finishing week 16 today, so he completed incivek about 4 weeks ago. I would say his side effects since finishing incivek include itching (no rash), fatigue, some weakness/shortness of breath, fatigue, dry mouth/metallic taste in mouth, and insomnia. I think that the symptoms he is experiencing right now (post incivek) are very similar/identical to the side effects he had with previous two treatments. For the itching, he takes Atavan.
Avatar f tn Research says, it appears that glucosamine and chondroitin, alone or together, are safe and have few side effects. But they cost money and will not help you more than a placebo. FDA does not regulate supplements. Some are even questionable. I'm all for healthy choices - but be cautious. Never take a supplement without consulting your medical provider. I learned the hard way.
Avatar m tn Because you are asking about hyaluronic acid, and because of the recent addition of GAG's to pharmacy shelves, I think it's important to address a few points about the uses of these compounds therapeutically. On the up side, hyaluronic acid is the same from whatever source it is isolated, and it is so common in the body that it can be used as a hypoallergenic surgical material for reconstructing and building up tissues that are lost.
441382 tn?1452810569 It's so awful to see them start getting old, isn't it? I never even thought about them having a problem with shellfish, but I guess they have the same problems with food allergies that people have. Fortunately, she has eaten shrimp several times with no ill effects, so I'm hoping that the glucosamine won't be problematic for her. Since she can eat shrimp, I doubt that it will.
