glucosamine

Avatar n tn To start, you feed 2 chews in the am and 2 in the pm for one entire container. Then, taper to one chew in the am and one in the evening. He loves them and he's been normal ever since. They can get pricey, but it's worth the health for your dog. The osteo bi-flex can't be digested properly, it doesn't have the amount of vits they need, and it's just a waste of money. Use them for yourself and try they phycox. We've been using it for 2 years now.
Avatar f tn It might be wise to mention your idea to the vet. He/she may be able to give you some recommendations. I think the worst problem would be if your dog was allergic to shellfish....and the second problem would be a too-massive dose for the dog's weight. Otherwise, Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplements are generally without any side effects. Most dogs are quite happy on these supplements with no change to their general health.
1093971 tn?1257833640 What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame. Since you didn’t ask about the latter I’ll stick to glucosamine by itself. If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar.
535822 tn?1443976780 Headaches and nausea are some of the most prominent FROM Stevia There are no really confirmed negative Stevia side effects for humans. However, Stevia is forbidden as a food additive in the European Union and some other countries, because many people say that there are still not enough confirmed studies confirming that Stevia is not harmful in any way.
Avatar f tn We know that NSAIDs can cause stomach ulcers and bleeding. A 1991 study published in the journal Drug Research showed glucosamine to be safe. When daily oral doses of up to 2700 mg/kg were given in the rat and 2100 mg/kg in the dog for one year and six months, respectively, no anatomical lesions were found in the gastrointestinal system or other organs. The dose given to the dogs would be equivalent to 150,000 mg in a 70 kg human.
Avatar n tn Begin with 1/2 of a human adult dose twice to three times daily. If there are no side effects it can be increased to 3/4 to a full human dose. Other Chinese herbal formula's for degenerative joint disease with stiffness that may help are: Di Gu Pi San, and Shen Tong Zhu Yu Tang. This combination works synergistically, so they should help more if used together.
Avatar f tn Something similar is a glucosamine/chondroitin combination. Again, be sure it's formulated for cats. In humans, both the avocado-soybean unsaponifiables approach and the glucosamine/chondroitin approach seem to have about equal effectiveness. While talking to the vet, also check about prednisolone is not being considered. It's a steroid and often given to dogs, maybe it's not done that much in cats? But it reduces inflammation.
Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems. I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product.
Avatar f tn the verdict still is not out on glucosamine in dogs. Their digestive systems are different enough compared to humans that we worry the glucosamine is not absorbed well. There are several great foods that your vet can recommend that actually reverse arthritis plus these foods are designed for senior dogs (less protein, higher fibre, more anti-oxidants) anyways and help prolong life. The daily cost of these foods are actually less then a good petstore brand plus supplements.
Avatar n tn Femara and similar drugs in its class really have musculo-skeletal symptoms as the main side effects. This drug can cause decrease in bone density and bone mass leading to osteoporosis and sometimes increased tendency to have fractures.
1388999 tn?1370042814 I had him on Rimadryl for a while and it really helped but I was afraid of the side effects so I switched to glucosamine. I was buying pet formulas and it did seem costly, and didn't have much of an effect. I had no idea that human grade was exactly the same thing, though less expensive!! I've just ordered human glucosamine and for good measure some MSM. I'll be sure to come back and let you know how it worked for my Bucky.
Avatar n tn If there are no other symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. I'd have to say that: Because of her age & the weather is turning colder, this could be Arthritis of her Spine and/or legs..... She does need to be checked out by your Vet as he/she can recommend the appropriate supplements & pain management for your girl... Dogs hurt just like we do.....However, they CANNOT take over the counter supplements as we can.....
20632981 tn?1503687567 It all depends on the person, unfortunately. My experience won't be yours. Yours won't be mine. There are some generalizations that mean most people, but remember, you're not most people, only you. Prozac is a good one to try because it's one of the easiest to stop taking. No way to say, though, if it will work or not. Side effects differ greatly among different people.
Avatar m tn I don't use it, but my wife does. She is not HepC positive, it helps her with the arthritis she has in her knees and she doesn't get any side effects. Is it effective? Yes, without a doubt, in her case anyways. I don't see why it would be any different for a HepC person but read about it and make sure it's liver friendly.
1083310 tn?1260107282 Just to make sure I understood you correctly this can help with RA? Will this have side effects with Methotrexate?
2121656 tn?1395674749 s in there. Thanks for the tip about giving her glucosamine and chondroitin for humans, I never knew that and not sure if what the Vet ordered her at time of surgery is for humans. She's so so stubborn. I'm guess I'll have to try somehow to get it down her. Thanks so much for your quick response and I will definitely keep you posted.
Avatar n tn a lot of pills but would rather do that than take drugs with bad side-effects (had really bad reaction to Celebrex). You can go to the website Arthritis Help For Me ******* for more info. I am trying to follow an alkaline pH diet as much as poss - but it's not easy, do drink alkaline water tho'. I'm trying to ionclude more veggies and juice and have wheatgress juice when I can. Want to get some of the juice powder suggested on that website - next payday.
Avatar f tn I hate to give her so many meds but I rather see her comfortable each day than not to be able to move - she is 11 and hope she lives a long time - I say this cause people say Rimydal cause side effects but that is after many years and I want her to live out her old age as comfortable as she can!! But as far as the trilostane no side effects so far! And she is down to drinking only 1 bowl or so of water a day and her appetite is normal - so the meds are doing their job.
Avatar n tn NOW it is happening to both of my hands an part of my right arm, and has happened to the left side of my neck. So far the pain in my hands, arm and neck havent been terrible, just bothersome. Thanks in advance for any advice!
2187849 tn?1338068981 s a cox-II inhibiter like Celebrex for humans. My dogs had no side effects at all and they felt great until they died of other causes. In another case, my neighbor was ready to put down his lab a couple months ago for orthopedic reasons. He's always been weird about giving meds to his dogs (think it's an older generation thing) but he finally tried Deramaxx after his dog literally could not stand up anymore.
Avatar m tn Massage will definitely help him. And I have not known a dog yet who didn't love a massage. All I know about Glucosamine is from personal experience with my own dog years ago. She'd had a broken leg some time before, and was starting to favour that leg sometimes, especially in damp weather. The vet said we could expect that she might develop arthritis in it. I started her on Glucosamine/Chondroitin (500/200mg respectively, daily as she was approx.
436837 tn?1293793226 I use ordinary supplements in capsule form, on sale for Humans. They are cheaper. But I get the exact dosage for her weight. She weighs 28lbs and gets 500mg Glucosamine, and 200mg Chondrotin daily. That's the max. dose for her weight.
