My dog saw a holistic vet in January for a severe ear infection, before then he was able to walk (40 min.) twice a day. He took a whole course of Baytril right before his blood test was taken and a month ago he got some antibiotic eardrop efloxacin. The vet suspected that he might have arthritis and Cushings because he was urinating more often in the evenings, had a ravenous appetite and his blood test indicated high potassium level.

I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. It can help them remain healthy and with that even happier. No one likes to deal with a grumpy dog. Can you tell me where I could find more information about glucosamine for dogs though?

I am looking for natural arthritis remedies for a 10 year old chihuahua. I read somewhere that blackstrap molasses works wonders for arthritis pain in dogs. I also heard of extra virgin coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. I am really tempted to mix all these and give it a try. Has anyone tried these? or are there any other natural remedies? My dog has been on metacam but it doesn't work very well, I can tell she is still in pain.

The only thing I can think of was that my mom started taking Glucosamine last year. Can the Glucosamine affect eye vision. Or does anyone have any suggestions. s done and X-Rays of my back in the hospital and CT scan done of my head and so far the only thing anyone has told me was that I had some arthritis in my back, but the pain is so severe and doing the neck exercises just make it worse for me, so that's why I wasn't sure if I should see an orthopedist or a neurosurgeon because my the neurologist I have already seen is only treating me for migraines and is not doing anything for the pain in my back/neck.

if you take them at mealtime it will just act to digest the protein you just ate, whereas for antiinflammatory purposes you want it to digest the crud that forms around joints and muscles that partially cause inflammation. (Very scientific term, crud, eh? There is a word for it, but I forget what it is). A cheaper supplement you can find in any health food store is Woebenzyme, but I don't think it works quite as well, at least for me. Sells a whole lot better, though.

Margaret - You probably should not be feeding those to your dogs because they are not made for dogs. Admittedly, I tried that avenue once because it was cheaper than the "made for dogs" chondroiten and glucosamine that's recommended for larger dogs. It didn't produce any positive effects after one entire bottle so then, we tried arthritus meds. My american bull was experiencing a slight limp. The meds didn't do anything! Finally, I tried Phycox chews.
