Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine for hip bursitis

glucosamine

Avatar n tn My hip, right at the top of the joint, gives me severe pain when I get up after sitting or driving. Worse at night, and keeps me awake sometimes. It feels a bit more like muscle pain than joint paint most of the time except after sitting. Would glucosamine, or joint juice keep this from getting worse? I am 58 years old and was a runner during high school. I work on my feet all day. Could this be something other than arthritis? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.
Avatar m tn I am an athlete and have been taking it easy for months due to my hip bursitis. I am eager to get back to working out as this injury has taken a toll on my sports performance, however my hip just refuses to heal. I have taken tons of advil, stayed off my feet as much as possible, and avoided exercises that aggravate my hip, but nothing is really making a difference. How do I find an effective way to heal my hip for good?
Avatar f tn I have had fibromyalgia for 15 years and hip bursitis for 5 years. the more research I do the more I see how related they are. I am to the point after various therapies to consider using a walker at 55 years old. It is difficult for me to walk and to climb stairs. I use to be very active. Is there any research indicating why these two are so synonymous?
Avatar n tn My vet said it was ok to get human vitamins for them. He also said it was ok to feed food with glucosamine plus the vitamins.
Avatar f tn I have been fighting bursitis in my right hip since January. Have had two injections and most recently completed 7 weeks of physical therapy. Had MRI on Monday - with follow up visit next week. Still have constant pain, but also have sharp pain on inside of hip when I step sideways, etc. pain will last then in thigh for 3-4 hours. Biggest challenges are walking any distance, especially uphill, stairs, etc.. Any advice.. Taking anti inflammatory, icing, etc.
230948 tn?1235844329 Yes I have bursitis in my right hip, also was shown in MRI that is was bursitis and arthritis. It hurts and has flares as well. Sometimes it keeps me from sleeping well. I have had several shots in hip, one for bursitis with out XRay used and one with Xray and sedation. Both times it helped, but has come back on and off after a few months. Just a shot in my doctors office into my sore area was a big relief!

Avatar m tn Hello Again, Hip bursitis is trochanteric bursitis. I chose to use the simpler term "hip" bursitis rather than medical term trochanteric bursitis. I do have personal experience with this condition. I first had the condition diagnosed about 20 years ago as a young adult. I was extremely active I was played softball on three leagues in the evenings and working as a supervising nurse in the day. I over extended my hip. I tried all the "home remedies" to no avail.
Avatar n tn I had hip bursitis in my right hip after in a car accident. The greater trochanter bursitis was caused from injury. After severe swelling the tingling in my foot was also very apparent. I believe it was a result or impeachment on blood flow. After a year of misdiagnosis and relying heavily on my left leg. I have now developed greater trochanteric bursitis on my left leg and yes I can concur that I have tingling in my left foot now but related to the swelling.
1063524 tn?1258732204 ve had several posts very recently regarding hip pain so excuse me if I sound like a broken record. On of the post common causes of hip pain is bursitis. There are two bursae in the hip region. A bursa is a closed fluid-filled sac that functions as a gliding surface to reduce friction between tissues of the body. The bursae of the hip is the largest of the body. When it is inflamed it is called trochanter bursitis. It is very painful.
Avatar f tn I have suffered with bursitis bilaterally for over 2 yrs....had a L hip bursectomy with little relief. Have tried PT, anti-inflammatory meds, and pain meds.. Just recently went to pain management and the physician suggested bilat hip injections...he felt it was arthritis...it did not help.. I continue to suffer with swelling and extreme pain in both hips, I am unable to lay on either side for long...
Avatar n tn I visited another doctor who took xrays and says that is is likely bursitis in the hip, but does not understand the itching. So now my diagnoses is a bladder infection, bursitis, and mysterious itch. Is it possible these are somehow connected? I cannot find anything on bursitis an itching! Thank you for reading this!
Avatar f tn So I've had hip pain for about 7 months. I went to her after months of voltaren, metsal, Celebrex etc and she says it's bursitis and that I'll need steroid injections. If it is muscle how come it only got worse the next day when I stretched? And the voltaren didn't help. Also when I'm working or doing physical activity it kinda becomes numb but the pain comes later on. In the cold it's a focused sharp pain rather than all over. Is this signs of bursitis?
Avatar f tn My dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia this last summer and the doctor recomended Glucosamine for my dog Bowzer and it seems to be helping he is walking better and even running around. I also buy the Pedigree dog food which has one where it has glucosamine in it for healthy joints. Ofcourse ask your vet if Glucosamine would be ok for your dog to take because I don't know if hip arthritis and hip dysplasia is the same thing. I hope and pray your baby gets better.
Avatar n tn Is there something I should be doing? I was also told that I have bursitis in my hip (though the term was much longer than bursitis...). I Thank you for any help you can provide.
Avatar m tn bursitis. Hip bursitis is diagnosed based on the history of outer hip pain, specific areas of tenderness of the outside of the hip, and confirmed by relief with local injection of anesthetic in the doctor's office. Patients frequently notice pain in the outer hip with stair climbing or descending and tenderness of the hip when lying on the affected side at night”.
