Maybe something is genetically wrong with me. When I was 33 I got my first bursitis (right shoulder). The chiropractor said the bursa are like gelatin ball-bearings in the shoulder, and when one pops, the surrounding muscles become inflamed. Now 10 years later, I have it in both shoulders, and pain when I walk, in my left arch and right ankle. Once my ring finger knuckle hurt for a year. The doc said the X-Ray showed no knuckle between the finger bones.
My hip, right at the top of the joint, gives me severe pain when I get up after sitting or driving. Worse at night, and keeps me awake sometimes. It feels a bit more like muscle pain than joint paint most of the time except after sitting.
Would glucosamine, or joint juice keep this from getting worse? I am 58 years old and was a runner during high school. I work on my feet all day. Could this be something other than arthritis?

I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
If you wish to try it make sure you are not allergic to shell fish (glucosamine) or MSM (from pine tree bark) or Arnica ( arnica montana flower). You can buy MSM and arnica lotions separately and there is a glucosamine product that is made from corn but it is expensive. I am also taking vitamins which seems to be helping too.
re are related, but I do have fibromyalgia and hip bursitis in both hips. I had surgery on one of my hips for the bursitis and a tear in my hip and let me tell you it did not help my bursitis at all, it helped the tear but that was about it. The doctor didn't order me physical therapy after my surgery and made my bursitis worse!! (he was to lazy to call my insurance), he is not my doctor anymore!!
Within 20 days, I had unexplained swelling of bursitis on both my feet and stiffness in knees (i did have similar swelling in just 1 foot 6 months ago). I saw online that HIV can cause joint swelling and bursitis? Is that possible as I am very worried as my other rheumatological tests are normal except mild inflammation in body.

I have a hip condition called bursitis, which I'd dearly love to get rid of. One of the most effective treatments for bursitis is to take a sustained course of NSAID (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs), with ibuprofen being the preferred choice. I have Hep C, have done for nearly 30 years, I am a non responder to conventional treatment, with genotype 1. Is ibuprofen a complete no no for someone like me with hep c, or is there a 'safe' dose?
Glucosamine is sometimes very effective for arthritis, especially in older dogs or after injury etc.
But at 5 years old, and especially as no arthritis was found, it may not be that Glucosamine will help. I don't know.
Has he been checked for Cruciate ligament tear? If this IS cruciate ligament, surgery -as far as I know- is the best option.
Muscle atrophy is often caused by inability to use the leg properly often because of injury or pain etc.
I visited another doctor who took xrays and says that is is likely bursitis in the hip, but does not understand the itching. So now my diagnoses is a bladder infection, bursitis, and mysterious itch. Is it possible these are somehow connected? I cannot find anything on bursitis an itching!

t know the answer, but I have had the same exact bursitis as you, and I have had five bouts of planter fasciitis and repeated bouts of right arm and occ. left arm tennis and/or golfer's elbow. I am not sure how much is linked yet; I am newly diagnosed but hope a rheumotologist can answer. There is another thread on bursitis on the site you should look at. A lot of us have bursitis!

In 1985, I had a car accident and fractured my L1, L2 and T5 had harrington rods and wires to fuse spine. 1n 1989, rods broke so I had all hardware removed and re-inserted instead of using wires they were replaced with hooks. I have now developed painful bursitis around the hooks. My skin will actually go under the hook until I manage to move it around. My question is this..Has anyone developed bursitis around the hardware?
My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something. It is much easier for her to take. I put her back on a food with glucosamine and she isnt having any problems. I learned my lesson about changing foods.
I have heard many different things about glucosamine for dogs . That is is okay for your dogs, and also that it isn't. There can be many benefits to providing supplements for your dog. It can help them remain healthy and with that even happier. No one likes to deal with a grumpy dog. Can you tell me where I could find more information about glucosamine for dogs though?

I went to my medical dr who sent me for an x-ray. Nothing is fractured in my knee, and she wants me to see an orthopedic doctor, for further evaluation and possible MRI. I am going to call tomorrow for an appointment. The only problem, tomorrow is Friday and I am in PAIN!! The only releif I get in applying ice. There was no recent trama to my knee.
