glucosamine

Avatar m tn s fish oil with enhanced DHA and EPA (15 grams daily), megadose vitamin E, and megadose glucosamine+chondroitin+MSM daily for anti inflammatory effects for my joint and tendon problems. I am looking to treat trauma of the brachial tendon to treat pain during bicep workouts by using a glucosamine cream. I have heard anecdotally that the cream format increases bio-availability by a staggering amount and that the oral supplement is essentially a snake oil product.
Avatar m tn Hi. Supplements to a dog's diet such as Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate, Omega Fatty Acids, Vitamin E, Selenium, and MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) all assist in decreasing inflammation and improving the body's ability to repair and strengthen tissues. Supplements, however, will not reverse structural changes in a joint such as torn cartilage, calcium deposits and advanced scar tissue.
Avatar n tn I would certainly give him a Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement. I give my dog 500mg Glucosamine plus 200mg Chondroitin, and she weighs 28lbs. She had a broken legf years ago, and very occasionally got a twinge and a slight limp. Since starting the Glucosamine....within a few days!! she did not show any discomfort at all, and has not shown signs of twinges yet. Apparently it works better alongside vitamin C.
Avatar f tn Hi,does anyone know what dose of glucosamine & chondroitin i should give my 7yr old border collie,he is getting very stiff in his hind leg when getting up(old injury when he was 1yr old) but once he gets going he is still as fit & active as ever.
Avatar m tn Yes Glycoflex is glucosamine + chondroitin + manganese and sulfur , and he´s on the maintenance dose. Anyway now I don´t know if these glucosamine supplements really work. I read about the latest research that says is almost useless. Although on the amazon.com page the majority of people swear it works. I try to get him loose weight, but in the last two years he has become obsessed with food , he wasn´t like that . Do you think massage will help ?
675347 tn?1365460645 This is a good article about glucosamine and chondroitin. Often vitamin C is evidently added for canines, to enhance uptake. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?
1110049 tn?1409402144 Glucosamine is commonly taken in combination with chondroitin, a glycosaminoglycan derived from articular cartilage. Use of complementary therapies, including glucosamine, is common in patients with osteoarthritis, and may allow for reduced doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
1137779 tn?1281542505 Not all of my advice is applicable to arthritis of course but one thing that is applicable is that aside from the Vitamin B/C capsules (standard), Vitamin E (once thought to be helpful on tardive) and saw palmetto (that was suggested by my urologist different issue) I take any of the natural treatments I take were researched by my neurologist first by reading through controlled studies and making independent decisions about safety and efficacy.
Avatar f tn Poor Candice. The best thing you can do for her right now is get her weight down. The less weight she has for those joints the better. I obviously don't know why exercise has been impossible in the past, but don't know your situation. Also, if she is in pain already, and the vet avised to keep her still, then exercise is not advisable for now. But ideally, and if the bad pain has eased, then gentle regular walks would help. Or even walks around your house would be better than nothing.
Avatar m tn Would a like to try Glucosamine & Chondroitin for my mild hip arthritis. Anyone have good results? Dr prescribed Meloxicam 15mg but am hesitant to start taking it.
Avatar n tn It's OK to give "human" grade Glucosamine and Chondroitin to dogs. But you seriously need to watch out for any additives in the capsules or tablets. Artificial sweeteners, Xylitol, sugars, or any other additives, and I would say no -don't give them that stuff. Toxic for them. However, the basic Glucosamine/Chondroitin is EXACTLY the same substance whether for humans or dogs. The difference is -the price. My vet told me that.
Avatar f tn I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
1327032 tn?1288840755 bengay - its ok - lol - avoid overuse of aspirin advil and alleve - the remedy depends mostly on the cause - there are some over the counter remedies - i take glucosamine with chondroitin and msm and vitamin d3 - these work for me - see if it goes away on its own - then try something else
Avatar f tn I take anti-inflammatory (boswellia serrata, turmeric, sea buckthorn oil) supplements for pain and glucosamine with chondroitin for my joints. Juicing vegetables also helps.
Avatar n tn Can I perhaps supplement it with additional glucosamine (no chondroitin)? Maybe the chondroitin is upsetting his stomach. I've ordered Si Maio San to start with and will slowly introduce the other recommended Chinese medicines above one by one. Can he continue to take Forsythia 18 indefinitely? It seems to be normalizing his inner ear equilibrium and balance but he's only taking half the recommended dosage.
Avatar m tn Your leg pain could be from your herniated disc. Fish oil and glucosamine with chondroitin can help lessen the pain. Leg pain is also a symptom of vitamin B12 deficiency - called intermittent claudication. Monthly B12 injections is too far apart in my opinion. I take sublingual (under the tongue) B12 spray daily. Extremely effective and pain free! Vitamin B12 is only one of the many deficiency states found with hypothyroidism.
Avatar n tn t do any harm is to start her on Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements. This really works, and is completely natural. (if the arthritis is not TOO bad, the Glucosamine/Chondroitin can work wonders) You could ask your vet's advice about this, and about the correct dosage (I would give her the maximum for her weight.) But ask advice first.
Avatar f tn Do you take any supplements such at Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM? They work great for me. As long as I take them every single day. My bones/joints would get so back I could barely walk, and I could tell if it was going to rain anytime soon because they would hurt even more! The Glucosamine really helped! Also a good calcium supplement. If these thinks don't help over a few week period I'd talk to your Primary Dr. about other possibilities. Good luck, I hope this helped!
