glucosamine

Avatar f tn i know absolutely nothing about tramadol. but the l-glutamine has been great. i have been taking it since quitting hydros last dec. if i go for a week or 2 not taking them i can tell the difference. my thinking is quicker and much clearer with them and i think they may even give a little energy or that is from the good food diet. the l-theanine is good for detoxing, it helps to calm you down. but now everything i am not sure is good to mix with tramadol withdrawl or not.
Avatar n tn I have been taking L-Glutamine for GERD, slow gastric emptying and it has certainly improved my condition to the point where I can eat and digest nearly as normally as when I was an adolescent and could eat and usually did eat practically everything. Although now I am much more careful as to what I eat, how and when. I lift weights quite regularly and could see some interesting positive effects of glutamine supplementation on my recovery and sustained muscle belly volume also.
Avatar m tn Recently, my gastro doctor had me try L-Glutamine. First, I started the dose at 500mg 3 times a day on an empty stomach. I’ve increased the dose up to 3grams a day, dosing 1000mg 3 times a day on an empty stomach. The goal that my Dr and I set was to reach 12grams a day. At the 3 gram dose, I’ve had some considerable improvement in symptoms with bloating and acid reflux, but I noticed I getting some serious joint pain in my hands, feet and knees.
562501 tn?1223921789 Yes L-Glutamine is very good idea for cancer patients. In-fact, one company picked up on it and included it in their 'Juven' drink (I believe the same company that makes ensure). Typically 5g to 10g per day is the recommended (not milligrams but GRAMS). Also helps with chemo's that attack the intestine; some research also says it helps with chemo itself. GNC sells flavorless L-Glutamine you can put in any drink.

415684 tn?1257329318 You can add L-Glutamine to the mix as well as this is used by many cancer patients to prevent mouth sores. You can pick up L-Glutamine at places like GNC which sell an unflavored mix so you can add it to anything. Typical dosage is about 5g to 10g (*NOT* mg but g=grams) 3x day. Here is one, of many, research papers on the effect of L-Gluatmine: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9762946?
789879 tn?1321327162 It seems like the main problem you have in the beginning is needing L-Glutamine, and having Candida overgrowth. I am taking L-Glutamine, Candida-G and Flora-G which seems to be working pretty well. Today is my first full blown day on the vlc, and hunger is only mild at best. I read about Candida-G (a supplement) last year, and it's a really remarkable product that is a strong enemy to candida! You can find Candida-G at (an online item only) www.rjmerchants.com/candidag.
451053 tn?1237577749 I too had mouth sores...I used L-Glutamine to relieve them. It worked immediately. Glutamine is an amino acid which is produced by the body in the digestive track. Chemo kills it. Glutamine is a supplement sold at GNC stores and health food places. It's a powder that you can mix with pudding, lemonade, etc. I used one tablespoon of it, mixed with an 8-ounce glass of water, as a mouthwash. Incredible stuff.
200220 tn?1361951554 Someone on this forum is taking l-glutamine. I hope you read this and answer me. I am taking it again and this time I am not under the doctor's care. I would like to ask your doseage and what times you take it and what for. I have been researching it and it seems to be good for brain fog and other brain functions along with many other positive side effects. I am taking l000mg twice a day. Maybe someone else is taking this too.
Avatar m tn So, the episode started three weeks ago, around 1 hour after taking l-glutamine. Had taken it for two (one month on, one month off, then one month on again until I felt like this) months (1g per training day, didn’t take over the weekends). On Aug 18 I think made the mistake of taking it in the afternoon after work before going to the gym, since people say to take it in the mornings.
Avatar n tn wheat may be causing your bloty as well. Tale L-glutamine powder (5 grams per day) to help keep enterocytes in better shape. This also raises glutathione (GSH) levels, and GSH is the major liver cell protection enzyme. (precaution, don't take L-glutamine if pregnant. It is unstudied.
427801 tn?1203844562 ive found a few journal articles mentioning a correlation between l-tyrosine deficiency and narcolepsy and studies involving l-tyrosine supplementation which apparently has proved effective. that said, i purchased some l-tyrosine powder. additionally ive found some other articles about "alternative" treatments for narcolepsy.
Avatar n tn I heard she can take multivitamin and dha ( omega 3 ) , cassine protine, l glutamine and l arginine?!!!
1806721 tn?1554333407 Keep supplementing the vitamin d. You could get tested for Celiac disease. That causes malabsorption and can therefore cause vitamin D deficiency. The vit D deficiency causes the hypercalcemia you described. Get some sunlight also in safe amounts. Maybe L-argimine and L-glutamine would help you like it's helped me by helping digestion. Probiotics may even help, but this is just general health support.
Avatar m tn >> In my case glutamine and collagen make my reactions worse. That's interesting, I've never heard of that. I know other PATMERs who benefit from it too so I'm surprise it doesn't work for you. There's another thing you have to take in mind. A proper died is compulsory. If you eat KFC, MacDonald, bread, butter etc. it almost makes no different. >> What brand glutamine you take ?! I took "L-Glutamine" from Jarrow Formulas. I always take it with Collagen.
Avatar f tn I have been going through w/d from opiates and it really is hard but the amino acids and vitamins have helped. I went to the health store and bought the L-tyrosine 500mg and the L-Glutamine 500mg and today I had a lot more energy and the deep depression must be better because I laughed and smiled:) Twice a day I take those and the SAM-e, calcium, super b complex, 5-HTP, magnesuim and a multi vitamin. Drink lots of water and juices. The crying bouts have stopped as well as the leg cramps.
200220 tn?1361951554 I don't understand what you mean by the half life being 7 days. I think he is splitting it so that I won't be so nervous. He didn't say but I'm doing it. I also was taking l-glutamine and it makes your brain nervous so I stopped it. I didn't want to because I believe it has been making me lose weight. I seem to be less nervous in my brain but its only been a few days. I don't know if it is the cutting the synthroid in half or stopping the l-glutamine.
Avatar n tn s possibly the safest supplement you can take unless you are allergic to mushrooms), CoQ10, DIM, Genestien, and L-Glutamine in certain situations. Omega 3 fish oils are also especially useful in preventing the 'wasting' syndrome in cancer patients. All of those have research behind them. Maitake D-Fraction was (or still is in) in Phase II FDA clinicial trials...unheard of for a supplement!
Avatar f tn He is nearly impossible to live with UNLESS he takes 550 mgs of Thorne brand DL phenylalanine and 500 mgs of L Glutamine every day. Thorne brand is a pharmaceutical grade product and the only one that really works for him. I have experimented with stopping one or both and have regretted it each time. I do not believe there could be any harm in adding these to antipsychotics but with my husband the antipsychotics are not necessary. His improvement over the past year has been very dramatic.
Avatar f tn It sounds like old blood possibly, or something to do with your enzyme problem or the supplements, but see if you are getting L-glutamine in your supplement. If not, add it along with a prebiotic. L-glutamine is good for healing the gut.
Avatar f tn can u take paxil with the l-glutamine

Avatar m tn I am active (exercise almost daily), eat very healthy (fruits, veggies, no processed foods, no sugar, low salt), and take supplements (multivitamin w/no iron, glucosamine, quercetin, ginkgo, l-glutamine, omega-3 fish oil). I also have protein shakes made from whey or casein when I work out.
