gleevec

Avatar f tn 00779/full The last thing anybody would want is to stop the Gleevec, which is a wonder drug of anti-cancer treatment. So we must think of "managing" the hyponatremia problem. I haven't found anything about long term use of Gleevec. But what springs to mind is that she might have started some other drug recently, which is turning mild hyponatremia to severe hyponatremia. Even ibuprofen. Has she?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed last year and was immediatley put on gleevec 400mg/day.At my last consult my metabolic stats had risen, hence blood tests to determine if the gleevec is no longer working.I am still in firstphase and wonder what my options are if the gleevec is no longer an option.Amin pretty good form, just very tired and a lot of bone pain.
Avatar m tn Hi, I don't know the answer -- but since both CML and Gleevec toxicity produce anemia because of marrow suppression, maybe it's not possible to tell the difference. E.g., both would show a low reticulocyte count. This full text paper on anemia from Gleevec https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ajh.23879 shows that other signs such as red blood cell size can vary, so that doesn't seem to help. Sorry.
Avatar n tn Original Breast Cancer determined in 2002 which was treated with am Mastecomy, Then Tamoxafin for 18 months and switched to Aromasin until cancer in the other breast was detrmined in 2010. Avatar n tn Is it possible that after taking gleevec for only two weeks WBC droped from 36.7 to 7? All other blood counts are also came back to normal range. Could doctor make mistake in diagnosis of CML? Maybe I should get seg second opinion?
Avatar f tn I had 2 open biopsies 9 years ago on my left breast (I could immediately tell that two large peices of tissure were removed) that showed no sign of Cancer. I just noticed that when I raise my arms, my left breast looks a little dimply, otherwise my breast looks the same and I don't feel any lumps under my armpit. Could this be from the missing tissue or should I be concerned. I had my yearly mamogram in December.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with CML and given Gleevec 400 ml. After taking gleevec for 2 weeks doctor took additional blood test. My WBC dropped from 36.5 to 7.1 and all other blood counts came down to normal range. I'm wondering if gleevec could give such fast hematological response or I was possibly misdiagnosed originally. I don't and didn't have any symptoms, my spleen and liver weren't enlarged, no enlarged lymph. Should I get second opinion asap? Please, help me.
Avatar n tn Sir, my grand mother(80 yrs old), has been diagonsed of breast cancer. her ANSC test report had the following: "smear shows scattered and groups of cells with features of malignancy with infiltration of stroma - infiltrating breast-carcinoma - lump in right breast upper quadrant" Doctor has told for operation.Considering her age what should we do?
Avatar f tn I see no connection between the chronic infection you have and breast cancer. Some infections of this sort are VERY difficult to treat as you obviously know. The only suggestion is to follow whatever recommendations as far as antibiotic therapy .... if you have doubts about your treatment then seek a second opinion from another Physician. These cases are very unfortunate but not all that unusual. Regards ....
Avatar n tn Family history of breast cancer is one indicator but not the only one. I was just diagnosed with breast cancer about a month ago and no one in our family has ever had cancer...please have it checked out. The surgeon who did your wrist surgery would be a good place to start. Call and ask his nurse to call you back if she is unavailable when you call. Tell her what is going on. Please do this on Monday! Good luck!
Avatar n tn After two weeks on 400mlg gleevec my WBC droped from 36.5 to 7.1. My doctor told to come for additional test in two weeks. Now my WBC is 1.3 and absolute neutrophils count is 0.04. I was told to stay home on antibiotics. How long it may take for my counts to clime back to safe range. And of course, I'm off gleevec right now. Does it seem that dose of 400mlg is too high for me.

Avatar n tn I am one of those lucky patients that developed a rare form of ovarian cancer, and was diagnosed 7yrs later with breast cancer, I am 8yrs out and am now facing an ovarian recurrence. Breast and ovarian cancer are definitely linked! Your Dr should absolutely be able to address all of your questions!
1486724 tn?1288051470 I was diagnosed with cancer on June 30, 2010. I had 2 lumpectomy surgeries, July 19th then another on August 2nd. When doctor tried to put mammosite in breast, she was unable to do so due to scar tissue. I went back to surgery in September 2010 to remove scare tissue. When the scar tissue was sent to pathology, there was .03 centimeter spot located in the scar tissue, however, doctor seems to think that maybe radiation from the mammosite has taken care of any additional cancer.
Avatar m tn I am a 56 year male in the US that was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 in which my right breast was removed. It was insitu pre-stage 1. Recently I had a CT scan of my torso that noted 1.1cm ill-defined hypodensity masses on my liver on the right lobe. I'm trying to understand the level of concern I should have regarding this issue. I'm due for a follow up CT scan in 3 months per my Oncologist request. A recent gene test noted heterozygous c.1564G>C (p.

Avatar m tn I have CML and was treated with Gleevec for 4 years and achieved remission. I have for the past several months been experiencing sudden onset of weakness which last for hours, to days. My blood pressure which has remained under control for several years with atenolol has been running 145/105 and higher for the past three to four months. I have a feeling of fullness in my stomach, and I have sporatic episodes of mild coughing, this occurs maybe once a week.
Avatar m tn I should mention that I have CML but it has been in remission for the last two years and I am no longer taking Gleevec. I am scheduled to be looked at by a group that kills the nerve endings in the heart that causes AF but there is an 18 month waiting period. My question is how many times can I be cardioverted and what is the downside of having it so often?
