Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
535089 tn?1400673519 Hi to all. I was recently Hospitalized with Gastroenteritis/Colitis and was wondering if anyone could give me some options for a good food regiment (liquid diet) that would help calm the intestines. I have had a recent infection including Colitis, Gastroenteritis (sp). I would also like to know what the best OTC antacid might be to calm the tummy. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Secondly Acid reflux gives you very bad stomach ache and usually lasts for a short time and you can possible be sick with it but feel much better straight away without diarroe and sickness ectr. I no this as i suffer from acid reflux myself. The term Gastroenteritis springs to mind as you say you have been sick and been havin toilet issues. This usually clears up within a few days and its like havin a flu virus or stomach bug.
Avatar n tn The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. In the meantime take oral fluids. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn If you are passing stools a lot and have stomach pain then in all probability you have either food poisoning or gastroenteritis. Take an OTC lactobacillus preparation and yoghurt with your meals. Drink plenty of fluids. Eat light, do not stay hungry but eat simple things like toast, porridge, cereals, crackers etc. Take ORS. Take over the counter antacid and antiemetic (this SOS for vomiting). Watch out for a day or two with this treatment.
1872406 tn?1320890391 We rescued a little kitten approx 6 weeks old who has been diagnosed with viral gastroenteritis. The prognosis by the vet is poor and I'm wondering if there is anything else we can do other than keep her hydrated and treat/prevent secondary infections. 569711 tn?1216876935 Hi, The stomach pain could be due gastritis, gastroenteritis, and viral infection of the stomach. It could also be food poisoning which can cause stomach pain and vomiting. You may have sprained your neck during sleep. I would suggest you to continue with the heat and ice therapy and take a mild OTC painkiller. For your stomach issues please consult a physician as you need to undergo a physical exam.

1770029 tn?1325802355 Hi and sorry you are ill. There is no such thing as "stomach flu" meaning the influenza virus does not cause flu in the stomach. It is considered gastroenteritis. The symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, low grade fever up to 100 degrees and possible cramps are caused by many things, virus or bacterial. However, the most common cause is a virus called Norovirus. It is spead from person to person by fecal oral contamination.

I am non diabetic and quite a concious on health. The doctor is also clueless and told me it might be due to severe dehydration and infection that has risen my blood sugar level.

Avatar f tn The other possibility is that perhaps you had a touch of food poisoning but with your house having a stomach virus, likely you did as well and while the meds you took (don't take someone else's meds, take only what is prescribed by a doctor for you personally)--- stopped vomiting, it doesn't mean you didn't have the virus and other effects of it. good luck and are you better now?
1788584 tn?1315106518 On thursday and friday I never threw up and ate a decent amount but the symptoms never totally went away. It is now saturday and I threw up this morning, but since have been able to hold down food, however the numbness did come back but not at it's worse. I'm pretty sure I have acid reflux or gerd on top of that but occurring previously. I forgot to mention diarrhea but it's not severe or another color, but once earlier it was watery, but not since.
Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar f tn (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer. You can still pass the virus through your stool for 2 weeks or so and it can survive on surfaces for a long time too. Just take it easy, eat bland foods and rest a lot.
Avatar n tn You probably had a mild case of food poisoning with your system throwing out all the disagreeable stuff from your stomach or it could also be gastroenteritis.
Avatar f tn hi, I am so happy to hear that....sorry but I thought Jade was a cat..didn't read well enough, go into panic mode too quickly. I'm not sure how long a dog can go....but I do know its critical for a cat to not go beyond 24 hrs.. Hopefully dr. Chen will comment for us...
1974739 tn?1326022445 You said he took a biscuit, but turned his nose up at the prescribed dog food. Try using his normal dog food, and see if he will eat it. If he is not drinking or eating better, you need to get him back to the vet tomorrow. In the meantime, encourage him to eat, and even more importantly, do your best to get some fluids into him. You could try giving him some broth, or chicken noodle soup, veggie beef soup... Best of luck...let us know how things are going.
