Common Questions and Answers about Forteo needles

forteo

Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
908504 tn?1269103899 He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
Avatar f tn So im terrified of needles and i know imma pass out when i go to the doctors is there anyone else that has or had this problem?
Avatar f tn I just felt a pinch that's it
Avatar f tn Hey everyone. I'm terrified of needles and I'm really worried about the reaction I'll have when confronted with an IV needle and an epidural needle. Any advice about staying calm?
Avatar m tn What i wanted to ask was here we have 2 kinds of ways to take blood.... they have needles attached to the tubes thats the new way. But we also have the old fashioned way where the needle is attached to a tube???? what i wanna ask is i know the needle was new.... is there any way in hell the tube could ever be re used or is this impossible??
Avatar n tn Doctors dont re used needles why would they? They cost nothing not to mention they are trained not to do so. Its all in your head quite frankley. Even if they did, as zam said, HIV once exposed to air then its very unlikley to pose any risk, but the risk is nothing more than in your vivid imagination than reality.
Avatar n tn Hi I'm having another episode of anxiety. as I was walking down my street I felt pressure on my foot. My mind started thinking what if it was an used needle with HIV fluid on it. I checked my foot once I got home and can't see anything because I have dry skin on my foot. I wear vans. Also, I walked past a bush and got scraped. I started to think what if a needle was in the bush and it scraped me.
5149794 tn?1374087979 I handled it pretty good but they wanted to remove the fluid from around his lung so I got 2 needles =\ the second hurt the most cause they had to get in a good position but the amnio is straight in and done.. its quick you will be fine.. the amino is easy.. stings a little.. bring your partner.. it helped having mine there.
Avatar f tn I looked and she pulled a pink lever down drew my blood then flipped the pink piece back up..I never seen one of these needles so now my ocd is in effect...if she were to use the same needle on someone before me what would be the chances of getting hiv..saying the person before me had it...how much blood has to be in the bore of the needle...please answer this...may I add I was there to take an hiv test from an incident 3 months ago...
Avatar m tn Thanks for your feedback. My case has baffled most doctors. I drink alot of water, eat a healthy diet and don't smoke or drink. The only meds I take are for my bones (Forteo) as I found out that I had extreme osteoporosis in Nov. 2008. I have had my circualtion checked several times and it is reduced in my "weaker" foot. There is no blockages and I have no rare diseases.... My problem is only becoming worse and noone knows why....
Avatar n tn I am in the process of many test now and the only abnormalty found so far is an elevated level of calcium in my blood, a result of Forteo injections. My blood pressure is perfect! Can you give me any idea what is happening to me and if there is anything I can do to help myself this mystery is solved?
