Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
908504 tn?1269103899 He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
Avatar n tn I am in the process of many test now and the only abnormalty found so far is an elevated level of calcium in my blood, a result of Forteo injections. My blood pressure is perfect! Can you give me any idea what is happening to me and if there is anything I can do to help myself this mystery is solved?
Avatar n tn I do not/have not ever taken estrogen replacement. I did have Aredia/Forteo injections for the treatment of the osteoporosis. The lump/mass is my breast was found to be "prominent glandular" tissue....no sign of mass/calcification...the "lump" under my arm and in my right groin come and go. My ribs under my arm (upper part) of my ribcage is very tender.
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your feedback. My case has baffled most doctors. I drink alot of water, eat a healthy diet and don't smoke or drink. The only meds I take are for my bones (Forteo) as I found out that I had extreme osteoporosis in Nov. 2008. I have had my circualtion checked several times and it is reduced in my "weaker" foot. There is no blockages and I have no rare diseases.... My problem is only becoming worse and noone knows why....
Avatar f tn I am beginning to think I am a guinea pig. My rheumy has given me anywhere from 10-25 injections of marcaine .50. I have to get them once a month. They take him all of about 50 seconds to give me. It is either in my upper shoulder area or in the lower back depending on where I hurt the most at that time. I told him that the disability company wanted to know how long I have to get the shots as I feel they are not doing anything for me.
Avatar f tn has anyone had the injections that make u ovalate? i on clomid and this is the next step. going back to hsp in august. would like more info before i go...
548733 tn?1216106796 So I'm wondering about injections after clomid. What do they put you on, what is it supposed to do, the cost without insuarance? If anyone can help I would appreciate it. The clomid doesn't seem to be working.
Avatar n tn I have been getting lipovite injections for almost two months now but i also have not had an period in almost two months, could the lipovite be the reason why I have missed my period? Should I stop the injections? They are really helping lower my cholosterol and helping me shed pounds.
Avatar f tn Has anyone received thyrogen injections prior to body scans? Did you have any severe side effects?
Avatar f tn I have keloids & I get injections in them ... Will the Cortizone injections harm the baby ????
Avatar n tn He scheduled a CT for confirmation. The CT confirmed the non-union. He wrote a prescription for Forteo, and the use of a bone growth stimulator, stating that if, after an additional 8 weeks there is still no sign of bone fusion, he would do a bone graft and replace the hardware. I feel as though he is not listening to my complaints of pain, edema and the inability to sleep secondary to the pain and discomfort.
Avatar f tn For me it did not but I just learned to do the injections at night and the get distracted with TV so I did not think about it.
