Common Questions and Answers about Forteo needle size

forteo

Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to Bonista-side effects.
Avatar f tn Well, I received a new supply of procrit and this time the syringe is the 3 ml size with the 25 g needle, instead of the 1 ml size syringe and the 27 g needle. Maybe this larger syringe will be easier to release the air bubbles since I am only filling a smaller portion of this syringe. With the 1 ml size syringe there was really no extra space. So, I will fill the 3 ml syringe from the solution vial with the larger needle to the 1 ml mark.
Avatar f tn I have a lump on my right breast the size of a pea I'm 26 and had a ultrasound.. The ultrasound tech couldn't find anything on the ultrasound but said she clearly felt the lump.. She told me it was just dense breast tissue.. Sometimes I feel a small amount of discomfort where the lump is.. It's hard and non moveable. My doctor said since there was nothing on the ultrasound that I'm fine but I had the ultrasound 6 months ago and the bump still hasn't gone away..
956292 tn?1334054869 Makes me wonder why Avonex has a needle size choice. Is there any benefit to using a larger size needle? I assume by size we're talking about the diameter, right....
908504 tn?1269103899 He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Avatar f tn t have that size needle they will sell you a syringe that you can draw the meds into, Good to have these on hand.
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
Avatar f tn A needle biopsy would not necessarily change the size or shape of the lump. A complex cyst can contain both liquid and solid material .... unlike a simple cyst that is only filled with fluid and may be drained with a needle. There would likely be some swelling in the area of the biopsy but by all means if you are concerned, ck. with your PHysician. Take care .....
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
Avatar f tn I will try to reply to your question. If your liver is enlarged, then your doctor will probably do some more tests to try to find the cause for your enlarged liver. Have you been tested for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C?
Avatar f tn My question is, the radiologist recommended that I follow up in 6 months to a year, however my doctor is insisting on me having a fine needle biopsy done. He states because of my family history (my older sister has been diagnoised with thryoid cancer). Is this really necessary. I get the impression from my report that the nodules are just cysts. Since I'm new to this thryoid forum I would like to hear from some of you about your opinion on having a biopsy or should I just wait.
10203682 tn?1418693754 ll tell you a secret, you can ask for the smallest needle and the nurse will tell you it is, but really its the same size needle as she'd use for anyone. Shots have specified sizes that they have to be, but this also includes babies. The same size as youd get is also the same size as it would be for a 6 month old. They aren't very big and they go very quick. I didn't even feel it when I got my flu shot or Tdap. You'll do just fine!
Avatar n tn t show up on imaging. The breast surgeon that I saw said a needle biopsy was not an option for me since the lump is small and I have breast implants. So, he is having me come back to see in in 6 weeks to see if it changes at all. I am not happy with the wait and see approach. I am worried sick about this lump, although the dr. doesn't seem too concerned. I don't know how they can tell me to 'not worry' if they can't tell me what it is!
Avatar f tn m a surgical technology student. This Monday I was working with either a SH suture needle or an FSH needle, and before I know it, I feel a quick sting. It was on my left index finger. I believe I checked my glove. I don't believe there was a hole and there was no blood. Afterwards, I checked my hand and there were no puncture marks at all. The patient was a cancer patient, so chances are HIV would have been in the paperwork. I just don't know if I should be worried.
Avatar f tn this past week have had Yrly mammogram and was called back because of tissue change in left breast. Fri had second mammogram and an ultra sound and have been told I need a needle wire loc biopsy. I am 49 and on hrt past 3 yrs after hysterectomy. Avatar n tn If thyroid gets bigger, is it cancerous?
