Common Questions and Answers about Forteo device

forteo

Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn Just was informed that I have osteoporosis. My doctor wants me to use Forteo, an injection that you use for two years.
Avatar f tn As for myself, I am a patient suffering from severe osteoporosis. My doctor, realizing I cannot afford Forteo ($950 per month!), has suggested I try to find how I can take the equivalent, generic version, which is Bonista. Please, if anyone can tell me how to get ahold of this medication, any address, emails of sellers, etc! I would be so grateful! This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/1230787'>Bonista-side effects</a>.
908504 tn?1269103899 He also wanted me to try the injections of Forteo but my Aunt had bone cancer in her hips so I am somewhat leary of that drug. Any info will be greatly appreciated as I am in really bad pain.
Avatar f tn Hi-- When you say Medicare, I assume it is Medicare Part D, administered by an insurance company like Blue Cross, etc? If so, you might be in for sticker shock. I had a similar experience w/ Forteo, via Part D, they wanted $5K for 3 months. I went directly to Lilly, and qualified for pro bono meds for 2 years, the limit of tx on Forteo. My understanding is patients with cirrhosis get priority. Other Gilead experienced persons, and there are a few here, can tell you more.
Nicelady Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents. Teriparatide (Forteo) is also approved for the treatment of postmenopausal women who have severe osteoporosis and are considered at high risk for fractures. The medicine is given through daily shots underneath the skin and you can give these shots even at home. Another advantage is that it can be given in patients who cannot tolerate oral biphosphonate drugs.
Avatar m tn For those of us just "reading along" can you define LAA and give just a little more on what a "Watchman Device" is? The device part of the name strongly suggests something worn or implanted.
Avatar f tn i have just purchased the salitair device as I have bad breathing through empysema, on the instructions it says breath in thrrough the mouth piece then out through the nose i am finding this hard to do without taking it out of my mouth i dont have much breath out can anyone help me x
Avatar f tn Should my fitbit device sync the information to exercise or do I have to put it in manually?
Avatar m tn Thanks for your feedback. My case has baffled most doctors. I drink alot of water, eat a healthy diet and don't smoke or drink. The only meds I take are for my bones (Forteo) as I found out that I had extreme osteoporosis in Nov. 2008. I have had my circualtion checked several times and it is reduced in my "weaker" foot. There is no blockages and I have no rare diseases.... My problem is only becoming worse and noone knows why....
Avatar n tn I am in the process of many test now and the only abnormalty found so far is an elevated level of calcium in my blood, a result of Forteo injections. My blood pressure is perfect! Can you give me any idea what is happening to me and if there is anything I can do to help myself this mystery is solved?
1590367 tn?1297051666 I have a device also, and the most worrisome equipment, according to the manual, is magnets. I live within walking distance of one of the biggest hydroelectrical Dams in the world, and as long as I do not go on a tour of the Dam, I get along fine. Otherwise, my device could be rendered useless, or it could cause the device to fire for no reason. Also, cell phones are not supposed to be within 12 inches of the device, or the same effect as above may occur.
Avatar m tn so i want to use the device to treat the curvature the device is good for penile health .i hear the device can use more than 8 hours i cause injury such as overstretching, bruising or swelling this injure can loss complete sex life please suggest This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/225415'>How do you heal a injured penis.</a>.
Avatar m tn t matter as long as you are consistent in using your own device and compare your values to only that device. The idea is that it will indicate if you are stable and healthy or declining and in need of more agressive treatment. For the manual ones, the simpler the better. A simple tube with a sliding indicator works very well. I prefer ones where the indicator is "outside" and can be reset easily by sliding it back to the start position.
408795 tn?1324935675 This was the first I had heard of any type or airgun device. Of course this device is different as it is for a one injection use period. Man!! I am sooo proud to be an American, but what a big mess, the military created just by not thinking, assuming or whatever the case. That's a true shame and sorry to hear so many got infected, including you. Soldiers must have caught other diseases as well.
Avatar m tn Use The purpose of BAL-type devices, currently, is not to permanently replace liver functions, but to serve as a supportive device,[1] either allowing the liver to regenerate properly upon acute liver failure, or to bridge the individual's liver functions until a transplant is possible http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn These children tolerate the procedure well and have no restrictions, though they usually are placed on a low dose of aspirin for the first six months after the procedure to prevent blood clots from forming on the device while the lining of the heart grows into and covers over the device. There are extremely rare cases of allergy to the material in the device, but overall, it does not cause problems.
Avatar m tn It is very difficult to determine the exact location of multiple ASDs, as they look one way on a transthoracic (2D) echocardiogram, but in reality can be in slightly different locations than they appear. 3 D echo can better look at the entire atrial septum, but that is an emerging technology; not only is it not widely available, but the doctors are still building experience in reading these studies.
Avatar m tn Dear Udupasri, Without evaluating your daughter, I cannot say which is the best option. Device closure is certainly much less invasive and works quite well. And, a 19 mm atrial septal defect (ASD) would certainly be a reasonable candidate in experienced hands. However, the defect should be away from the valves and should have adequate rim on all sides for the device to hold on to. An experienced cardiologist should be able to evaluate her and decide whether she is a good candidate.
Avatar n tn t wish to go through because it will shorten my pennis by 1 to 2 cm and I cannot have sex for 3 months. My alternative is to use a straightening device but I am not familiar with it. So I am hoping to get some advice from this forum. Anyway, the link to the device is as below: http://www.sizegenetics.com/curvatures.html If the device is good, I am sure some of us here will appreciate it as well. Perhaps if anyone has used it before perhaps can shed some light for us.
