Avatar n tn I took Forteo for 10 months. and i can barely walk. i took Tymlos for the first 6 months and was fine, and then Forteo for 10 months. my strength is gone, my feet hurt wearing shoes, i have stomach pain when exercising, and ave thigh muscle cramps, neck pain, and can't sleep. I had confusion when driving, so i told my doctor i'm done with this. I know where i'm going these days, but I now use a walker around the house, elastic knee braces to walk on my own.
Avatar m tn The xray and MRI indicated fracture but the bone scan said no fracture. The injury got much better (I was able to wearing running shoes) in Mar 2009. I went on vacation, walked too much and have not recovered. I have developped a constant swelling in my left foot. In the summer, when I take a hot shower or just when I wake up, my foot becomes red and swollen. It has evolved to the point that both my feet and hands have this condition. My injured foot is worse.
Avatar m tn Hello. I was hit by a car in late March and broke my left tibia. Surgery was performed and I had a rod inserted just below the knee to the shin. I just had my three month follow up examination and the fracture still hasn't healed. I've been diligent with my physical therapy and I have full flexibility in the leg. I can bend the leg at the knee and I can fully extend it. I can put weight on the leg and the doctor no longer requires me to wear the surgical boot.
Avatar f tn I have been on Forteo daily injections for 1 year and I have experienced considerable joint pains which did not exist prior to treatment. My left hip and knee, my right knee and my hands have been getting worse each month. Has anyone else experienced similar reactions?
Avatar f tn My doctor told me that I have Osteoporosis and wants me to try Forteo an injection for two years. Has anyone tried this drug and what were your side effects, if any. I don't want to make my stomach problems worse than there already are.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have a broken sesamoid in my right foot. It was caused by a kickboxing accident about 14 months ago (summer 2019). The initial x-ray I had didn't pick up the fracture and it was diagnosed by a recent MRI (October 2020). I'm currently wearing a walking fracture boot and have been told to wear it for 6 weeks. I've been wearing it for a week, but still get pain and clicking in the big toe joint.
Avatar f tn I have severe osteoporosis and am trying to take Forteo. I started out with half dose and have worked up to a full dose. The full dose 2 days in a row was disabling. My doctor suggested every other day. So I let the previous trial work its way out of my system for 5 days and tried another full dose. This is three days after the dose and I am weaker each day. I move in slow motion. My doctor is puzzled. Anyone had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn suggests that your callous formation at the fracture site has started but it needs further healing and is progressing and you would need further rest for a period of one month. Your symptoms suggests significant improvement, but I suggest you to go slow and follow all the future instructions of your Surgeon and schedule the next visit and go ahead in asking all your questions.
525545 tn?1293181194 Hi, Thanks for writing in. Jones fracture or dancer’s fracture is a fracture of the fifth metatarsal of the foot. The fifth metatarsal is at the base of the small toe, and the proximal end, where the Jones fracture occurs, is in the midportion of the foot. Patients who sustain a Jones fracture have pain over this middle/outside area of their foot, swelling, and difficulty walking.
Avatar m tn I have a fracture of the left 2nd metatarsal that is still healing and my Dr. has ordered physical therapy. What I want to know is will physical therapy help in the healing process of a fracture or is that something that should be done once the bone has healed?
Avatar m tn Usually 6-8 but not uncommon for this to take 3 months to see healing. Remmeber that x-ray healing lags behind actual healing because first the body puts cartilage like substance and then bone grows overtop. I'd go off your pain and symptoms but it's good to get interval x-rays to make sure that fracture isn't gapping a bunch.
Avatar m tn Well yes, lack of female hormones post hysterectomy may be associated with slow/ decreased ossification which may sow the process of fracture healing. However though it may play a role, it is not a major factor if compensated with a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle. You may like to discuss this in detail with your treating doctor. Hope this information helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn I am two weeks into a Jones Fracture. I've had the same fracture on the opposite foot years ago and it healed well in 3 months. I'm wearing an orthopedic boot, supplementing Ca/D/K2 and using a bone stimulator. After two weeks the swelling is massively reduced and there is no pain. Can performing active, non-resisted range of motion exercises be harmful to the healing process? What about slight weight bearing? Note that neither activity causes any pain.
1060627 tn?1254501307 If in the latest present day X-ray the healing is complete and there is no fracture do not worry about swelling as this is due to the movements or therapy you are undergoing. Take some anti inflammatory drugs and the swelling will subside, most important thing is to confirm the healing before proceeding for active therapy., Take care!
Avatar f tn Post traumatic headaches are commonly observed in patients with trauma or injury to the head. It is good that the maxillary sinus fracture is healing nicely and that you are being closely monitored by an opthalmologist. The headache may be managed by pain medications and relaxation techniques like biofeedback therapy. This may occur weeks to even months after the injury. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn 1) I am a smoker (1 pack a day) and was wondering if quitting or stopping smoking could benefit me with the healing of my bone. I read that smoking significantly delays or even prevents certain fractures from healing and I'm wondering if I stop now will my chances of non-invasive healing improve? If so, by how much? Does anyone have any experiences where they stopped smoking and started noticing improvements with their fracture?
Avatar f tn HI, As your Doctor is treating your son as a minor fracture, it would be best to take some rest and follow Doctor’s advice. Your son is young and into competitive sports and hence he needs to be extra careful. Little precautions taken now will facilitate proper healing and prevent any chronic problems in future. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Non-union of fracture is reported when there is presence of a post-fracture defect in a long bone beyond a reasonable expected healing date, or if no radiographic progression of healing is noted. What type of non-union you had? Is it Atrophic non-union or Hypertrophic non-union? If you see the figures, 90% of non-unions are treated successfully with 1 surgery. In 80% of non-unions, limb length and alignment are restored (*). If infection is present, often >1 surgery is required.
Avatar f tn Trying to move the limb unnecessarily may cause fracture displacement and improper healing. Casting does not heal the fracture immediately but just provides support and immobilization required for natural healing. However, if you continue to have swelling and pain, it is advised to consult your orthopedician to rule out complications like osteodystrophy etc. Hope this was useful. Take care!
Avatar n tn I have limited range of motion and when I sit a certain way and hold my arms in my lap, my first two fingers on that hand start to go numb. I;ve not had any physical therapy except the exercises I was told to do at home. My wrist has seemed too tender to try PT. Should I wait until a nerve conduction test is performed before I do any hard core physical therapy, or has it been so long that it won't make a difference now?
Avatar m tn My father broke his collarbone in the middle third 5 weeks ago, by falling from the same level on ice. It was a fracture without displacement and recommended restraint in Dessault bandage. Fragments were almost in contact, I have seen only a fracture line five weeks ago on the X-ray. A week ago, so about 4 weeks after the incident, doctors have made a new X-ray and was a displaced fracture. They said they will heal without problems.
Avatar f tn How dedicated you are to proper healing and most importantly, post healing stretching and strengthening.
378273 tn?1262097621 s Cyst with debris, subchondral fracture, torn meniscus partially stripped MCL, joint effusion and near-complete cartilate denudation in the lateral patellofemaral joint. Got a cortisone shot, which only helped a little.Ortho doctor called the fracture a bone bruise and said they take months to heal. The torn meniscus won't heal (he said) Other than a "scope" what can I do to get relief! And a scope would only be a temporary fix, right? I'm 77, and very active.
