Avatar f tn Tinea versicolor is a condition that is known to recur. Did you try all of these things? Selenium sulfide (Selsun) 2.5 percent lotion or shampoo Ketoconazole (Ketoconazole, Nizoral, others) cream, gel or shampoo Itraconazole (Onmel, Sporanox) tablets, capsules or oral solution Fluconazole (Diflucan) tablets or oral solution It might be that one works better than another for you.
Avatar f tn ketoconazole, fluconazole, itraconazole, terbinafine ( I have tried these 4 drugs in oral and topical form) I have also tried selsun shampoo and all of these have failed. I was wondering if there was anymore hope for me? Is there anymore antifungal pill I can take? Due to my rash not responding well to 3 azole antifungals does this mean it won't respond to any of the other azole antifungals? And are there anyother antifungal that are effective that arnt azole? P.

Avatar n tn However Terbinafine solution (Lamisil) is quite effective in treatment of tinea versicolor. Please discuss this with your doctor and you can get prescribed oral treatment like itraconazole, ketoconazole or fluconazole. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep us posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn hi.. i have got a whitish patch on my face..on the side of my right eye and its like a ring worm.. can i use ketoconazole ointment for that.. how about fluconazole tablets..
Avatar m tn My doctor said it was a fungal infection in the head and so subscribed me with some shampoo (ketoconazole) and some fluconazole tablets as well as some antifungal cream. I have been using all medicines for around 2 months or so now. At first I had a patch at the back of my head (in the middle) this now has hair growing in, really tiny, thin hairs. There is one on the side of my head which has no hairs and another near the front on the top of my head.
Avatar m tn After 6 months unprotected vaginal , i had 2 test , and both are negative , i have painful rash on groin since 3 months that do not go , and doctor gave me Diflucan tablets whivh i found it is for hiv patients ,.
Avatar f tn I am not entirely sure of the cause, but from the research I've seen one person said her liver enzymes were off, so you might want to consider getting a liver panel done-I personally would think that you would be jaundice, your skin color and whites of your eyes will look yellow if these were off but the other person didn't mention this being the case with her. But jaundice(even if not seen does in fact cause itching but it is generally body wide not localized to one area).
Avatar m tn I'm a 25 year old male, and I believe that in December I have caught some kind of a yeast (or bacterial?) infection after repeatedly having protected sex with a 21 year old female (we were seeing each other regularly during December) — it first started affecting my balls and then in mid-January the irritation seemed to have moved more to the penis. I've never had unprotected sex.
Avatar f tn I have tinea versicolor on my back, chest, and upper arms, and would like to know if tattoos would be able to cover the pale spots successfully without the tattoos getting altered by the spots reappearing later on. Is it safe getting a tattoo over the skin infected with tinea versicolor? My goal is to treat the tinea versicolor, get tattoos and continue with preventative maintenance using ZNP bars for soap, buffing, and applying selinum sulfide to prevent reaccurances.
Avatar m tn If you search 'ketoconazole' online, the first link that popped up for me is from the NIH (National Institutes of Health in DC) and the second one is from the website 'rxlist', which is pretty good imo at explaining medical/scientific/pharmaceutical stuff at a high level but not completely over my head. Rxlist seems pretty well balanced, and I usually go there when curious about some medication I'm supposed to take.
Avatar f tn It is called tinea cruris and tinea capitis. When ringworm infects the area between the toes, it is called tinea capitis. When it affects the pubic region it is called tinea cruris. When it affects the scalp, it is called tinea capitis. It is all the same. Only, the ringworm that infects the scalp lives inside the hair shafts and can't be treated topically. For the feet and pubic region, the best product is topical Lamisil.
Avatar f tn what is the best treatmento for keloid and at the moment i have tinea on my forhead and i have used a lot of ointments to treat including cotrimazole, hydrocortisone, bicatricin.nowmy dermatologistadvised me to try flucinolone.
Avatar m tn Hi there, can anyone tell me if tinea barbae has anything to do with an hiv infection. I thought I had swollen lymph nodes, but my doctor laughed and told me it's just tinea barbae ... a fungal infection inside the skin ... not under the skin like lymph nodes. Just wondering if tinea barbae is anything to worry about. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. There are no known interactions between fluconazole and propranolol, so you can safely take them together. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
Avatar f tn Fluconazole is an antifungal and one pill stays in the blood stream for 3 days. It is normal to take a 'loading dose' the first time which helps get a jump start on the infection. I would take it as the doctor directed. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn A month ago I self diagnosed and treated a yeast infection based on my previous yeast infection (diagnosed by a doctor a few years ago). I treated with Monistat (miconazole)cream, which mostly cleared up my symptoms. I still felt somewhat irritated down there so I went to the doctor. She took a swab sample that came back negative for yeast/bacteria/gonorrhea/chlamydia.I felt fine for 2 weeks, then felt intense burning during intercourse . A few days after that, the itch was back.
Avatar n tn It is not killing probiotic cultures in your bowels. And 6 weeks is not really longterm, especially since fluconazole is not an antibiotic, but an antifungal. Candida is a mean one, and hard to get rid of. But Candida hates a balanced diet with lots of beans, veggies, wholemeal, yoghurt and fruits. Reduce your meat and sugar intake to aid the meds to kill it off. Good luck!
Avatar m tn About four weeks ago after horseback riding I noticed a small abbraision about 3/8 inch in diameter in the fold of my skin on the left side of my groin. I started applying corn starch powder daily to help keep the area dry. The abbraision didn't heal and actually expanded. Additionally, I started to break out with bumps in the fold of my groin above and below the original abbraision. The bumps start out as hard white or red bumps.
Avatar m tn Excessive sweating can cause skin problems and probably you are suffering from a fungal infection of the scrotal skin called Tinea Cruris. Wearing light and cotton clothes, taking cool refreshing baths and avoiding strenuous activities can be helpful. If you are overweight lose weight. Excess fat causes sweating and oilier skin. Oral therapy may be necessary if the skin infection is intractable.
Avatar f tn Apparently I can consistently getting yeast infections due to hormonam imbalance. I'm afraid to overdose on the fluconazole. Is there a natural way of getting rid of it? I'm thinking cranberry juice but should I drink it once in a while or is there another alternative. Because I have to avoid sugar in order to fix my hormonal imbalance.
Avatar n tn In looking at the images on the net of tinea, I do have spots of it but it is not what the rash on my chest and face is. The rest of the rash is not circular and does not respond to any of the creams or medications given to me. This rash is just a general redness. It does not occur anywhere except the area of my chest that is normally seen through a neckline opening and across my nose and a little bit of my cheeks. I am 50 years old but still have oily skin. Any suggestions?
