Avatar f tn What kind of nasal spray? Is it a prescription like Nasacort or Flonase or the OTC stuff like Afrin? If it's Afrin that is not supposed to be used all the time, it's really bad. If your nose is bleeding, that could be an infection or maybe from the spray. I'm not sure about the blood pressure. I think you should try to wean off the Afrin. You are probably having what's called *rebound* congestion. Read the label on it. It tells you not to use for more than 3 days.
Avatar n tn You should get a nasal steroid such a Flonase or Nasacort and start using it a month or so before the allergy season starts. These are prescription medications but Flonase is now generic so it should be cheaper now. It really works great.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if any of you on the site who have Hep C, who have ever had experience with using a prescription allergy medicine that is a nasal spray? I had taken Flonase in the past, never really cared for the backwash it has. But, I've been seeing an allergist because my allergies have really bothered me this year. He prescribed a medicine that is a nasal spray called Astelin.
Avatar m tn suffering from the same condition for almost five years , I am 29 yrs old, based in India , the rashes develop due to itching (becomes red)and eventually dries out and skin peels off after a day or two, especially during summer. To minimiize the symptom I try to control the urge to itch , avoiding harsh soap/cream and only tap dry the area after bath. I even consulted the doc , he says every thing is fine and its not STI/bac/viral infection and prescribed some normal OTC medication.
Avatar n tn org/posts/Family-Health/Odd-swelling-on-side-of-nose/show/228206. He suggests a sinus CT. Has this been offered to you or are they trying the Flonase first? Here is information on Flonase https://www.rxlist.com/flonase-drug.htm. Is this prescribed to decreases swelling or to attend to the sinus issue contributing to the swelling?
428185 tn?1203741789 Hi back - I think I'm allergic to dust/pollen/mold. Tried antihistamines and they work but screw up urination - having prostate cancer surgery soon so that may fix the antihistamine problem, but they also kind of sedate me, which I don't like, and make my private parts shrivel up. Decongestants rattle me and raise my BP.
Avatar f tn Hi, welcome to the forum, it typically suggests allergic rhinitis which is exaggerated or precipitated during cold season or timing. This condition is sometimes associated with asthma. The triggering factors like dust, fog, pollens etc. can cause the precipitation of these symptoms. Hence, you need to maintain a diary of things you are allergic to. You may be exposed to pollens in the woods esp in the morning time.
Avatar m tn //www.rxlist.com/flonase-side-effects-drug-center.htm - which is probably why your doctor said to stop using it. If your cough got better using it, maybe it was helping some allergy symptoms, like post-nasal drip. Did you ask your doctor what he meant, or try to clarify anything? Always feel free to ask questions and clarify anything you don't understand with your doctor.
464237 tn?1315670793 The flonase is usually once or twice daily. I would take it and call monday to be sure. A day or two will not be a big issue if you would like to wait. Either way, there shouldn't be a problem. Are you taking steroids? I saw that you have been diagnosed with EBV?
Avatar m tn I find myself waking up in the night short of breath, almost as if I am hyperventilating. Getting more cross-ventilation in my room and to using Nasacort helps ease the problem. However, the problem persists in varying degrees. I have a deviated septum and persistent rhinitis. Any advice would be welcome.
Avatar n tn Hi doctors, I'm a 21 year old male currently dating a 20 year old female. Last October she was told by her doctor that she has HPV, low to high risk intraepithelial lesions. The doctor at her school decided she didn't need anything done and didn't need to come back for an exam for another year. That August BEFORE she was diagnosed, we both performed oral sex on each other. I then left at the end of August for an internship in Washington D.C.
Avatar m tn I'm 22 male, active and have real high Bp (i guess heriditary) but I'm hoping to get this under control soon with my meds(hydrochloric thiazides, amlodipine) but this started before treatment ... I've had pressure above my nose for over a month now and a weird feeling in the back of my head (spaced out/dizzy kinda feeling) its stronger sometimes then others but is constantly around I recently had a brain/head ct scan and they said all was normal...
Avatar f tn In the mean time, another antibiotic and she renewed the Flonase (I decided to not take what she gave me or very little). Now, I have symptoms of Acid Reflux and I believe this is all due to the fact that I started something I never should have. I haven't been sleeping and don't know when I will. Very frustrated and not sure what to do. Seeing my primary on Monday to discuss what to do and if I should maybe take Prilosec to see if the Acid Reflux symptoms subside.
Avatar f tn Thanks. I did have a cold and the Dr. gave me a sample nasal spray called Nasacort. I tried it for 11 days straight and didn't get any good results so I just quit using it. I'm going to try it again, maybe this time it will work. I would like to smell again. Thanks for your input.
Avatar m tn I frequently feel as if I am hyperventilating while lying down, which is eased by letting more cross-ventilation into my room. I ease my symptoms with Nasacort, Sudafed, and sinus rinses. I am a 37-year-old male. Can anyone provide some advice?
Avatar f tn I wanted to mention that Nasacort has a steroid in it. So you don't want to keep using it longer than the week. Even though it says non addictive it still will cause you to have need to use it in the sense that if you don't use it the cells get used to it being an anti-inflammatory. The cells like this and will want more steroid. So in a way they do get used to it. So, give it a try for a 5 days to see if it helps your symptoms.
Avatar m tn I've had an upper respiratory infection for about a week. Went to the doctor this morning with severe ear pain, no infection, just inflammation due to the other infection. Was recommended Flonase, rest, and fluids. After I came home and took the Flonase I've had this really weird fizzing sensation off and on at the back of my throat all day. It feels like a handful of poprocks are at the top of my throat/back of my mouth. It's a really weird suggestion.
Avatar f tn The folliculitis is limited to the scalp only. I am real curious about the Flonase use ,but also read of a connection toi high tryglycerides, which I do have a problem with. No test have been done, saw family physician, she only suggested a dandruff shampoo. I have been using T- Gel and Demerex.
Avatar m tn I used Biaxin (anti-biotics), started with Symbicort (puffer), then on Alvesco and now I am on Nasacort, Advair and Aerius. Is this a post virus cough, asthma or something else...your thoughts?
Avatar m tn Anyone's knowledge or help on this post is greatly appreciated. I'm 22 and currently diagnosed with chronic sinisitis by my local physician after he looked down my throat. I have no green or yellow mucous though my nose is staying inflamed and irritated (no polyps or deviated septum). My occipital lympnodes and also a neck lympnodes are swollen and have been since I've had this(month and a half).
Avatar n tn s unfortunate when medication costs so much sometimes that we have to find an alternative. Flonase and Astepro are likely the right names. Flonase is a corticosteroid spray and Astepro is an antihistamine spray. Dymista is a combination medication so it makes sense that the doctor is suggesting the two medications will work as the Dymista did. Let us know how it goes.
Avatar m tn I have tried it as nasacort with no success. Hoping to find someone that can help with this. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Have you been tested for any bacterial infections, like Strep throat? Bad smells are sometimes associated with bacterial infections. If it's not getting better, you should definitely go back to the doctor instead of self-medicating with Flonase. If it's not allergies, Flonase won't help and might make the situation worse.
Avatar n tn I have a horrible cough and it produces a very thick white mucus lumps. He gave me a breathing treatment, A 3 in1 shot, nasacort spray, and Ala-Hist. He said that I now have Asthma. Is there anything else that could be done. None of this has had any affect on this crud. Is there something else to do. I think I have something wrong in the lungs or in the sinus. Nothing has helped.
Avatar f tn t take really any allergy meds due to issues with tachycardia and palpitations. My doctor suggested Flonase, but I am allergic to sulfur (used a sulfur mask once and my whole face swelled huge, used to have to brush me teeth with sulfur water and my entire mouth would get blisters) and I noticed that Flonase contains sulfur in its makeup. Can I use it?
