Flonase for sinus headache

Common Questions and Answers about Flonase for sinus headache

Avatar n tn Throughout I have been doing the Netti Pot twice a day and using Flonase. First sinus infection and rarely have headaches. Neither have I ever had a history of high blood pressure, which is now all over the place. One day it was 165/106, the next morning it was back down to 110/73! Is surgery to clear it out my best option?
479419 tn?1208127685 My suggestion would be to try treating the headache like a normal migraine as opposed to a normal sinus headache... so, instead of applying heat or steam to your head, apply an icepack (with a cloth around it of course) to where it hurts (for the majority of people, heat on the head irritates the heck out of a migraine, whereas cold relives pain). Use the migraine meds instead of the sinus meds when you feel any "sinus" pain as it could be the first signs of a migraine attack.
Avatar f tn I have to go to the doctor today for the prenatal visit to get blood work so I'll talk with someone about being sick and see what they wanna do cause I feel like complete crap.
Avatar f tn Pred helped briefly, but after weens off, pressure builds up again. Tried sinus irrigations daily, allergy meds ( singulair, claritin, flonase, nasonex, allegra). He does not think this is allergy-related (he never gets congestion, sneezing, post-nasal drip, ect. Hx of exercised-induced asthma (no asthma problems otherwise). No sig. med hx. Alt. approaches tried(no help) He's left the state to deduct any environmental allergies/causes.
Avatar n tn Moved to Chicago several years ago from Phoenix so the doctor suggested that I may be suffering from allergies as a result. Blood test confirmed grass allergy. Have been using Flonase (SP?) for about 1 month coupled with nasal rinsing system but still have the ringing and drainage. Should I be worried about another culprit besides allergies causing these awful symptoms?? In addition, is there any other over-the-counter meds that may be of use. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Looks like you have developed a sinus infection which has progressed to a throat infection as well. Sinus infections cause a post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. In the meantime for relief from your symptoms you could do warm salt gargles and take OTC antihistamines. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I've had this for about 4 years. Dr. says to use Flonase daily, so just started it. I think it might be from sinus but I have no symptoms.
Avatar f tn That feeling has morphed into lightheadedness some days, dizziness, headache, depending on the day, but has been with me almost every day for the past two months. Doctor suggested sinus infection and gave me steroids plus antibiotics. Seemed to get much better with steroids but then came right back. ENT said eustachian tube dysfunction due to allergies (tested positive for various inhalent allergies) and said to use Xyzal and Flonase.
438513 tn?1215703374 Honestly, I had horrible sinus headaches and sinus infections for many years till I started taking digestive enzymes between meals. Just recently I realized that I could take systemic enzymes between meals instead. They are made specifically to help all body systems instead of digesting food. And they are much cheaper per pill. The brand I found is Flavenzyme. Seriously, this stuff really does work. Everyone around me is suffering with allergies....I am not having any symptoms at all.
Avatar n tn I've had such a tough time with sinus headaches, allergies (watery eyes, plugged ears and tinnitus) and fatigue that I finally went to an ear-nost-throat doctor last week. He put me on Nasonex, a steroid nasal spray, to reduce the inflammation. I also hear my heartbeat in my ear at times, and he's hoping that a month on Nasonex will stop that. If not, he'll do a CT scan and other work to see what's going on.
Avatar n tn I had a sinus infection about a month ago and was treated with Amox 3000 mg for 10 days. To me it did not get any better I went back to the doctor and got an XRAY -- sinus appeared clear . I did not feel any better and the doctor started me on Flonase and Claritin OTC. About a week ago I had excruciating headaches (facial) and have now been diagnosed with T.N.
Avatar f tn I get sinus infections every time I have to take it for more than 5-6 days in a row for unknown reasons. Try actual Sudafed (the kind you have to sign for through the pharmacy) not the PE crap on the shelf. There is no better allergy medication than that. Hands down!
464237 tn?1315670793 t want the infection to get even worse. How is it ok to use flonase for bacterial infection? Have any of you used flonase for infection. My infection is not allergy related, it came from a cold that was going around. Thanks so much for reading. and yes I have been using nasal irrigation along with all of the other home remedies I have found on the internet.
Avatar f tn My doctor just started me on flonase and said to do the saline sinus rinses daily. She said to follow up if the vertigo continues. It still does continue. Please let me know what your ENT says.
454221 tn?1259445739 Thanks. Back in the winter of 05 I got my first sinus infection and they did a head scan not a scan of my sinuses, but it showed blockage in several areas. I have been put on claritin, zyrtec, flonase, and zantac. But have stop most of them temporarily for the skin test on the 6th. I'm hoping the ct scan of my sinuses will give me more answers. I will let you know an update in August. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn The dr prescribed Allegra, singular, Flonase and Asteleine nasal sprays. I am not having any relief. I was on the Asteline sir 2. -3 weeks now and the other 3 meds I just started. 2 weeks ago I had a ctscan and it didn’t show an infection. My teeth didn’t hurt then just had a headache and pressure. About a week ago my teeth started hurting and my dr will not prescribe me an antibiotic. Will the meds that I’m on cure a sinus i ection if I have one??? I can’t take this pain anymore.
Avatar f tn I had blood work, EEG test, and MRI tests done on Tues/Wed/Thurs. Thurs evening, I had another headache (pain) attack while straining (light strain) for BM. The headaches were so bad, I had to go back to the ER. During that visit, they gave me 2 doses of morphine, ran another ct scan (doctor said no bleeding and to follow up with neurologist friday), and prescribe oxycodone, promethazine, etodolac.
Avatar f tn I had multiple courses of steroids, antibiotics, over the counter medication, the sinus issue remains. My doctor has sent me for MRI of the brain as he does not think the facial numbness and tightening is related to my sinus issues, but I really feel it is. Has anyone else had issues with facial tightness, tingling and almost feeling like their cheek is numb due to sinus ? This only occurs on the one side of my face, my ear on that side is now always blocked also. Its driving me crazy.
Avatar f tn This continued for about 2 weeks and continued to worsen even more so, the light headed thing has gotten worse once and its stayed the same but the fatigue and psychical symptoms are getting worse.
Avatar f tn I caved today and went to urgent care and Dr said I have a sinus infection and gave me a zpak and,Flonase. Worried that my baby is still safe. No major cramping just minor ones off and on but have had those before I was sick and Dr said that it is normal and no bleeding.i go to the ob on the 19th. Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn Dehydration could be one problem. You can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) for the headache. Just make sure it's just plain Tylenol, no extra strength or extended release.
Avatar n tn Twice in the last six months using Flonase my mouth filled with blood from sinuses. Is another medication for sinusitis available?
Avatar m tn How long or how many times will you need to use a Neti Pot to feel a difference? I have been having awful sinus headaches and ringing (hissing) in my ears for about 10 days. This is after on and off sinus infections (or what I think are sinus infections) for months.
Avatar n tn Hi I have been dealing with sinus pressure/fluid for the past 3 years. I've been diagnosed with bipolar type 2, and every time I swing into a manic/depressive side I feel like there's a "lever" that snaps and releases fluid into the sinuses that is not supposed to be there. Normally I have to deal with the mania/mood swing for several months to years, then the "lever" magically switches back and releases all the fluid immediately.
1939607 tn?1324289300 Almost all mentioned taking Flonase or similar nasal sprays for the initial illness (cold or sinus infection). I believe that people start taking the flonase to help cold/flu/sinus infection, and then it gives us this traveling, achy sore in the Eustachian tubes. I often cough up these dry little patches after a cold, like tiny white scabs. I think the pain switches side-to-side depending on which side direction the spray travels: spray then lie on your side, that side gets more meds.
3240655 tn?1346723677 I've had surgery to straighten a deviated septum(2011). I had the surgery because I complained about the lingering odor. Months later the sweet rotten smell returned. A recent CT scan revealed two normal sized cysts in my upper left sinuses. But I only was recommended Flonase. The ENT persuaded me from surgery to remove the cyst, because he didn't think it would help, in his experience. He also believed, my problems may be because of allergies.
Avatar n tn Does being surrounded by couple of lakes have anything to do with the way I feel? Also, I feel that when I take flonase my sinus discomfort gets worst, such as sinus pain. I often end up taking couple of Ibuprofens to help with the sinus discomfort. But I have to take some sort of steroid nasal spray to relieve my symptoms. If don't take it, I feel like everything is closing in on me my sinuses. I can get away with taking flonase about every other day.
Avatar f tn I take zyrtec, singulair, flonase and astepro for the allergies and sinus. My ENT is stumped. How can I get my taste and smell back?
