Flonase for sinus headache

Common Questions and Answers about Flonase for sinus headache

Avatar n tn Looks like you have developed a sinus infection which has progressed to a throat infection as well. Sinus infections cause a post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. In the meantime for relief from your symptoms you could do warm salt gargles and take OTC antihistamines. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have to go to the doctor today for the prenatal visit to get blood work so I'll talk with someone about being sick and see what they wanna do cause I feel like complete crap.
Avatar n tn It began with a cold and I thought it was sinus, then allergy so I took claritan D and Flonase. And this did not help. Had ct scan (normal). I am now taking antibiotic because doctor says it could be infection because I am congested. For pain = Butalb Acetamin-Caff 50-325-40. Which I have not taken yet. Also, Doctor indicated that it could be migraines. Nothing is helping and I am frustrated. Can anyone help?
Avatar m tn Sinus headaches, which present with a feeling of deep, throbbing pain and pressure in the face, and pain that worsens with movement, may occur with sinus infection. In your case, treatment may involve treating the headache and the underlying sinusitis. Inform your doctor about your symptoms for proper management. It is indeed possible that you need a stronger antibiotic or longer prescription of Amoxicillin.
Avatar n tn has given me antibiotic and flonase for potential sinus infection, however I'm on the last day of antibiotics and head pain is still there. I haven't had any other symptoms that stand out. I do find pain is relieved by advil or tylenol. Could these symptoms be stress related or something else?
479419 tn?1208131285 My suggestion would be to try treating the headache like a normal migraine as opposed to a normal sinus headache... so, instead of applying heat or steam to your head, apply an icepack (with a cloth around it of course) to where it hurts (for the majority of people, heat on the head irritates the heck out of a migraine, whereas cold relives pain). Use the migraine meds instead of the sinus meds when you feel any "sinus" pain as it could be the first signs of a migraine attack.
Avatar n tn I have had an ongoing sinus infections for the last 3 months. I have had 5 rounds of antibiotics, which have helped while I am taking them - just as soon as I get off of them I am miserable again. I use flonase, zyrtec, nasalcrom and allegra d and a prescription decongestant to relieve the extreme congestion in my neck. I also do nasal washes every other day. I should add to this that I have an immune deficiency - CVID. I cannot kick this sinus trouble.
Avatar f tn She put me on Augmentin for 8 days for a sinus infection and said that she saw fluid behind my left eardrum. After the 8th day of pain, the augmentin did NOTHING and I went to the ER. The ER doctor was concerned about my family history and me being a smoker, and recommended a CAT scan and a spinal tap! I had both. I also insisted he do a full sinus scan. The CAT and Tap came back normal. My sinuses were a "little cloudy" on the left side.
Avatar n tn hi i have been suffering from a blocked nose for two years then two months ago i had a sinus operation but now am blocked all the time and i feel like i cant breath from my chest as well but every time the doctor checks my lungs they say there clear it affects the front part of my chest and somtimes i feel like am dying am on nasel drops antihistamines been doing steam inhalasion but nothing works its like i can blow bubbles inside my nose can anyone help me please cant cope with this
Avatar n tn I forgot to mention that when they saw that my husband had Sinusitis, they gave him a RX for Flonase. From the time he first started taking the Flonase to the time he got the MRI, a few months had passed. So that's why the sinuses cleared up.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor on Thursday with a headache, sinus pain and drainage and bumps on the back of my throat. No fever. He put me on a Z-pack and Flonase. I went back today because I looked at my throat and saw white stuff down the side where my tonsils hide. That doctor said it's an Adenovirus and to continue the meds and gargle with salt water. He said the white stuff is not pus but is sinus drainage. I looked Adenovirus up and got scared!
Avatar m tn About a month ago I was in bed with an excruciating headache due to sinus infection. I had read that the humming in meditation was good for dislodging the mucous and thought vibration might be even better so in desperation got mine out and started massaging all around my forehead and under my eyes. How amazed I was after only a few minutes when something dislodged, my nose started draining and and my all day headache (right above my left eye) started being relieved. I couldn't believe it!!
Avatar n tn A former Mayo researcher is looking for an anti-fungal sinus spray, but nothing yet. I've developed a saline Sinus Flush that dramatically removes any sort of infection from the sinuses. It's slightly risky, because you have to bend over in a shower, but sounds like you're in fine shape. All it does is recreate the water-up-your-nose experience, one that you are familiar with, but with safe hypotonic saline solution.
438513 tn?1215706974 Honestly, I had horrible sinus headaches and sinus infections for many years till I started taking digestive enzymes between meals. Just recently I realized that I could take systemic enzymes between meals instead. They are made specifically to help all body systems instead of digesting food. And they are much cheaper per pill. The brand I found is Flavenzyme. Seriously, this stuff really does work. Everyone around me is suffering with allergies....I am not having any symptoms at all.
979826 tn?1389039958 Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.' Thanks for sharing what works for u when u have sinus issues...many of us have this problem and I know there is a more recent thread on this same topic. I agree with ur logic and how and y certain things may cause chiari symptoms to resurface....makes total sense to me.
Avatar f tn So any recommendations, I see my doc on Monday for a re-check. What is the next step recommended when sinus will not heal. What question should I ask, and how firm should I be with my doctor. Also can pressure from sinus not only cause headaches, but also a feeling of panic. Not horrible, but certainly not good.
Avatar n tn The doctor has found a cyst on my left sinus. I am waiting for an appointment with an ENT, but it is not until March. For those of you who have had a surgery on your sinus, what was done? Lately, I have had an ear infection, which cannot be cured. At the moment I am using Flonase and something for pain. I have high blood pressure so there is a limit to what I can take.
Avatar n tn I took that for a few days and still had the headache (now going on for two weeks) so I went into an ENT doctor. He diagnosed me with a yukky sinus infection and put me on a different antibiotic of which within three days I knew I was having an allergic reaction to it! I called him and he changed me to another one (the fourth one!). He also placed me on prednisone. This was awful for me.
Avatar f tn Unnecessary diagnostic studies, surgical interventions, and medical treatments are often the result of the inappropriate diagnosis of sinus headache. Both the International Headache Society and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery have attempted to characterize conditions leading to headaches of rhinogenic (nasal) origin. However, they have done so from different perspectives and in isolation from the other specialty groups.
376008 tn?1312484756 Looking for some help or info from anyone who's possibly had a procedure where they go in and remove bone that causes narrowing of the sinus passages. My husband has had chronic sinus pressure and pain for many years. He's visited numerous ENTs and general practitioners, been prescribed numerous meds from nasacort, allegra, flonase, and many more. He is currently on Omnaris spray which doesnt seem to help more than anything. Some weeks he can go without a headache. Other weeks he has many.
454221 tn?1259449339 I do take claritin when I need it and flonase. The only other thing the allergy doc gave was a sinus rinse kit that I have yet to use. He did tell if it did not help to let him know and he could give a referral to the ENT doc again. I will try the flonase and rinse kit first and see if it helps.
Avatar n tn Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) rarely occurs with sinusitis but it has been described. The persistent congestion and your severe headache suggest that, despite the "clear" sinus x-rays you may have sinusitis or an infection of the sinus that has extended beyond the sinus walls. That you are still ill suggests a possible infectious complication. You would do well to consult with an ENT specialist and have a CT scan of your sinuses and the adjacent areas. Good luck.
Avatar f tn This continued for about 2 weeks and continued to worsen even more so, the light headed thing has gotten worse once and its stayed the same but the fatigue and psychical symptoms are getting worse.
Avatar n tn I also have been battling a sinus infection for a couple weeks. i was prescribed actually 3 rounds of doxycycline for it, and flonase, and also sudafed. i have polyps that have formed in each side of my nasal cavity. MISERABLE! Dr. also thinks some ofit is allergy-related. But in the last week or so, i have had the weird tingly sensations on my scalp/head. sort of like when you get cold chills but just in random spots on my head. doesn'thurt, just odd.
Avatar m tn As you can see by the hundreds of comments, the Flip-Turn Sinus Flush works extremely well for chronic bacterial infections of the upper sinuses, replacing antibiotics and surgery in most instances. For infections of the lower sinuses, I recommend the Neilmed Sinus Rinse--available at most pharmacies--as it requires less effort and risk.
Avatar n tn I have been prescribed antiobiotics (amoxycillin for 20 days and azithromycin 250mg for 7 days), prednisone for 5 days, flonase, nasonex and daily sinus rinses. Nothing has helped. The pain and pressure never goes away, but is definitely less intense in the morning. The pain increases throughout the day. The tooth pain also moves around between the 4 teeth depending on the position of my head. I also have headaches behind my eyes, across my forehead and right cheek.
Avatar n tn Now that I have been on the Neti Pot for 3 years I have only had 1 sinus infection. I still do use Flonase periodically after I use the Neti. I use the Neti morning and night. It doesnt hurt but you look really weird. My family thought I was a nut but now they all swear by it. The Neti washes the nasal cavities and the throat. So when your nose gets irritated and swollen the Neti allows you to wash out the drainage rather than let it become infected.
Avatar n tn I've had the worst sinus problems since becoming pg (nose bleeds, dryness, etc...) He prescribed me Flonase to help with it. I also sleep with a humidifier going every night. It seems to help more now. I also use a cool washcloth over my eyes when I'm laying down. It seems to help some, too. Also, like the above poster said, you need to make sure you get plenty of fluids (mainly water if possible). It's true that dehydration causes headaches. Best of luck!
Avatar f tn Hi, I've suffered from headaches all my life and have had my share of migraines which I've kept under control. I know I don't have a migraine right now, but I'd like to see what others may have experienced. I've seen an ENT for my "right side" headache - they don't see an infection but the headache is just like the headache I get before an infection (but I wake up with it most days). I use Breathe Right strips and Simply Saline.
Avatar n tn My first thought was- what the heck is going on- I have this bad sinus infection , on meds for that for 20 days- it never goes away- was told to take celexa- (which I took at the same time as the anti-biotic)- and then started having attacks, tingling in my fingers and toes, and then I am being sent to a pyschologists? for anxiety or panic disorder.??? I really hope you get better and I did go to chiropractor ( I have not been in a few months though)...maybe I should go back for a visit.
