Flomax retrograde ejaculation

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax retrograde ejaculation

Avatar m tn I'm having the same problems on Flomax with the retro. I'm also scared about the loss of strength stated on some forums. it says that Flomax relaxes the muscles of the prostate and bladder neck so it seems like it could improve blood flow to the prostate and help treat a prostate infection like I've had with shooting pains for months now.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing retrograde ejaculation from taking Flomax and Uroxatral for several years for an enlarged prostrate. If I stop taking the medication will normal ejaculation return? If so, how long will it take?
Avatar m tn Hi I recently started having retrograde ejaculation. I am 61 pre diabetic and have an enlarged prostate. My psa has been 1.2. I have been taking flow max for the past 3 years and had noticed a decrease in the amount of sperm but I always ejaculated. Recently I have had several dry orgasms. I have also experimented while taking flow max I have also tried taking Viagra and other times Cialas. Would taking both Flowmax and Cialas or Viagra be causing the retrograde.
Avatar n tn What are the chances of *permanent* retrograde ejaculation from taking two doses of Flomax? (And, I'm sure, taking Sudafed and Urecholine at the same time?) If this seems unlikely, is my pattern of recovery unusual? Is there any specific treatment avenue I should inquire about with my urologist, given my history of urgency? Thanks Doc!
Avatar n tn I had switched to Uroxatral from Flomax because the latter caused retrograde ejaculation. Following major surgery elsewhere, I could not urinate, therefore, I was not without a Foley catheter. Two weeks after the first surgery, I had the re-sectioning. I now urinate well, but my ejaculation is retrograde. Can this condition be reversed? I hate it! Jerry F. Avatar n tn Hello, Till the time you have Sildosin, retrograde ejaculation will persist. But this retrograde ejaculation is not permanent and should stop once you stop this drug. But due to retrograde ejaculation, fertility will be affected in the meantime. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar n tn As a matter of fact, retrograde ejaculations keep me from having any sexual relation with anyone and keeps me from masturbating, as well, since there is an unpleasant feeling in my penis following a retrograde ejaculation. Is there anything to be done to reverse retrograde ejaculations, so that my ejaculations would be external?
Avatar m tn http://www.drugs.com/sfx/flomax-side-effects.html). If it persists, it is best that you inform your doctor about this also for proper management. A change of medication or dosage may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I have Flomax caused retrograde ejaculation and my urologist said it was that or back to the catheter!
Avatar m tn It just relaxes the smooth muscles of the urethra to aid in smooth flow of the urine. Though flomax may lead to sexual dysfunction and retrograde ejaculation, the effects are unlikely to be permanent. Hope the information is helpful. Take care!
Avatar n tn The common side effects of Flomax are abnormal ejaculation patterns which include premature ejaculation, retrograde ejaculation etc. Withdrawal from Flomax can resume normal ejaculatory function. There are no studies supporting how much time it takes to resume normal ejaculatory function as it varies from patient to patient and is dose dependent. Consult a urologist for further assistance. Best.
Avatar m tn OK, Taking it for three days, I've had serious heavy-headedness, pinpoint toothaches, retrograde ejaculation and massive diarrhea The last side effect was my breaking point. Relieving urination frequency is pointless if I'm still running to the toilet all day to expel my bowels (and pushing on my prostate in the same way) - I'm stopping the medication tonight and seeing my doctor tomorrow, as he mentioned none of these side effects.
Avatar m tn That could irritate things! He prescribed me Flomax. Besides the dizziness, though, I'm worried about its effects on ejaculation. One of the things that keeps me from having too many prostatitis symptoms is regular and *satisfying* ejaculations. Sorry to be so specific and graphic, but this is the urology community.
Avatar f tn We've discovered on our forum that there are no topics too delicate or sensitive to be discussed by both sexes, so I hope you are not bothered by me discussion what I have found. Also, I, too, am glad you have joined us and hope you stay. It appears to me that what you are having is not a lack of semen production, but rather the ejaculate is being misdirected. In a condition called "retrograde ejaculation" the semen is directed into the bladder rather than down the urethra.
Avatar m tn Flomax was added the following year, which again worked for awhile, but the symptoms returned after 6 months or so. The Flomax caused retrograde ejaculation, which bothered me because in the past, I had always shot a fairly substantial load when I ***. However, I did discover that if I masturbated in the sauna at my gym (always alone), I sometimes could produce some *** if I leaned back and pressed my thumb against the base of my penis prior to the point of ejaculation.
Avatar n tn but the majority of times blood came out in the sperm, or only after ejaculation during urination, or both in the sperm and the urine. once i woke up without having had sex that week and urinated blood. i tested my blood, sperm, and urine and the only abnormality was a high psa level. my dr said it is very rare and is that high in 40/50 year old. i did a biopsy for prostate cancer and my dr said that everything was ok. after the biopsy, i waqs back to normal.
Avatar m tn Hi, Tamlusosin (flomax) has been known to cause retrograde elaculation or dry climax wherein the sperm ejaculates into the bladder instead of being ejected through the urethral opening. Since patients on treatment for BPH with Flomax have developed this condition as as side effect, it will be addressed appropriately by your urologist. It is likely that you will be asked to discontinue this medication while being transferred to another drug.
Avatar m tn If your retrograde ejaculation is a side effect of medication, your doctor probably will switch you to a drug that does not affect ejaculation. If your retrograde ejaculation appears to be related to a mild nerve or muscle problem involving the bladder, then your doctor will treat you with a drug — such as pseudoephedrine (sold under many brand names) or imipramine (Tofranil) — that improves muscle tone at the bladder entrance.
Avatar n tn Your urologist needs to know ASAP before it creates an infection. What medicine may i ask? Some cause retrograde ejaculation, where your stuff goes in your bladder instead out of your penis. Flomax does this especially..
Avatar f tn Possible complications for a TURP include bladder neck contracture (a scar where the bladder meets the prostate), retrograde ejacuation (ejaculation into the bladder), and worsening of his incontinence. Surgical alternatives to TURP include laser therapy for removing prostatic tissue.
Avatar n tn What is the risk of retrograde ejaculation due to TUIP? Is there surgical ways to perform a TUIP to minimize the risk? Does the resulting sensation feel the same as the Flomax side effect?
Avatar n tn Hi, How many times have you experienced this ? Was this present prior to the treatment of your kidney stones? What kind of treatment did you undergo? This may be case of dry orgasm or orgasm with no seminal discharge. The following may lead to a dry orgasm: "Retrograde ejaculation. In this condition, semen is forced back into the bladder instead of out through the penis.
Avatar m tn Dripping ejaculation could also be due to flomax side effects. However it could also be due to retrograde ejaculation. This can be a complication of diabetes. “Diagnosis is usually by way of a urinalysis performed on a urine specimen that is obtained shortly after ejaculation. In cases of retrograde ejaculation, the specimen will contain an abnormal level of sperm.” Refer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retrograde_ejaculation However I am not sure when your urine analysis was done.
Avatar n tn Hello Sir, There are these types of devices which are used to facilitate ejaculation in selected patients with spinal cord injuries, where this device is used to locally stimulate the nerves and cause ejaculation.
Avatar n tn I am having difficulty finding someone who has gone through TUMT. I had it in January of this year. I was taking Flomax, but it made me so dizzy I would almost faint every time I stood up. I didn't have to use a catheter. My problem is that I developed urge incontinence afterwards. I have wet the bed and wet my pants not being able to make it to the bathroom. I am now on Vesicore, an overactive bladder medication. My urologist says that he has never seen this happen with TUMT.
Avatar m tn There are several reasons for orgasm without ejaculation, the most common (“retrograde ejaculation”) being that the prostate sphincter is closed, so semen doesn’t exit the body. During ejaculation, the internal sphincter, a muscle located between the prostate and the bladder, closes tightly, preventing a man from ejaculating and urinating at the same time. If this muscle relaxes, it can force some of the ejaculate backwards into the bladder, rather than out of the urethra.
Avatar n tn On a different note, the other day I masturbated and almost nothing came out. The urologist told me that the flomax causes retrograde ejaculation, but this was in the morning after my flomax has usually worn off (this was at a time of day when I have masturbated and ejaculated before, but no more than a little dribble oozed out. Usually when the flomax is in effect, absolutely nothing comes out).
Avatar n tn It is because of the side effects after TURP like retrograde ejaculation, blood in urine etc. Also patients who do not wish to get surgery or who have contraindications for surgery, who want temporary relief from symptoms or ones who are having recurrent prostatic hyperplasia can opt for medical mangement. Alpha blockers relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck, easing the flow of urine in about 70% of men with BPH. Doxazosin and terazosin both can lower the blood pressure.
Avatar n tn What happened to your sperm is called Retrograde Ejaculation. The seminal fluid passes from the posterior part of the urethra and into the bladder. I would definitely see a urologist, quit drinking as much, and get tested for diabetes. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn 1) It is possible that retrograde ejaculation is occuring as a side effect of the Flomax. Try stopping it and see if the condition improves. 2) Again, you may want to consider the possibility of retrograde ejaculation. This occurs when the ejaculate goes into the bladder instead of through the urethra. This normally occurs due to diabetes or via surgery. 3) It is possible that it may caused by the procedure, but I would discuss this with your urologist.
