I have SEVERE lower back pain(Continually) my doctor gave me Cipro (Antibiotic) thinking perhaps I had an infection, I've finally taken all the antibiotic, however the lower back pain still present. Are there other proven symptoms I may have that I am not aware of, doesn't hurt when I urinate, however I don't always empty my bladder, I take Flomax(without Flomax I probably wouldn't even be able to go to the bathroom. Anyone experience this. Thank You.
Saw my primary MD today. He said that the Flomax relaxes muscles in the bladder and prostate, and the Avodart shrinks the prostate. He said that after a year or so, if the prostate has gone down and reduced the problems, they like to eliminate the Flomax, as it is no longer necessary. Long story short, I now have a prescription for Avodart alone. I realize that it may not reduce the surgery risk, but one less drug is a good thing.
He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.

enlarged prostate regardless of biopsy outcome. Flomax does not seem to be making an improvement in frequency of urination--does this have an indication that cancer is more likely? In other words, if nodule were benign would the Flomax be likely to work better? Does progressive increase in frequency indicate a higher chance of cancer?
Risks of complications increase if the surgeon cannot see the cataractous lens well. Flomax often but not always causes the pupil not to dilate well in response to dilating drops. In removing the cataract which is behind the pupil the doctor cannot visualize the peripheral portion of the lens which means that he or she is "flying blind" trying to pulverize the lens and evacuate the pieces.
The reason he was reluctant is that I have not usable vision in my right eye due to undiagnosed problems in childhood. Today the eye would have been patched in childhood, etc. and/or had surgery to make it useful. He said therefore, because of possible complications related to Flomax, Now, I would be risking my entire vision, not just vision in the one good eye!

I have been using finesteride instead of flomax for the last 4 month.
s from the Flomax my husband takes and that it will take longer for his vision to clear.(the Dr. was aware of the flomax before surg.) What has been your experience with this troublesome outcome? My husband is very discouraged.
My urine is always clean. I was given flomax but refuse to take it because of ejaculate going backwards and might faint. What can I do to solve this? I usually go to acupuncture but this pandemic is closing everything.
Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
However since you have a history of cancer, it would be wise to go back to your doctor once and rule out the possibility of bladder cancer, which too can result in blood clots in urine. Even other wise repeated injury to urethra is not good. I would sincerely advice you to consult your urologist ASAP.

Needless to say, I found this to be disconcerting, and discovered (through onling research) that a decrease in semen production was a common side effect of Flomax. But, I kept on using this combination hoping things would improve with the semen. Needless to say, after approximately 3 weeks, I had the same experience, but this time followed by pain in my lower abdomen (during the end of orgasm sensations).
I've been having pain for 2 weeks that's been like my other kidney stones. I've had several surgerys to have them removed in the past so I know what I'm feeling. I went to my urologist today and he told me it's a 2mm stone in my kidney and shouldn't be causing pain. So why am I experiencing pain and was able to know it was a stone? Also I haven't been prescribed anything to help with it except narcotics for the pain. No flomax or anything. I don't know what to do.
t know the pros and cons regarding that procedure during pregnancy. Is your wife on Flomax? Nothing I know of will relieve that pain except removal of the remaining stone unless it passes on its own. Again though, I am not an MD and I would suggest further consultation with her treating physician to discuss the questions you've posed in here. He/she would/should have the answers you're wanting. Obviously pregnancy is tough enough without this additional pain every 2 days.
Age 64, with flomax I experience no pleasure with my orgasms. Is this because of the retrograd ejac. or is it a side effect of the medication? I may need to have surgery to improve my urinary flow, but retrograde ejac is
a common outcome of these surgeries, and I need to know if I am at risk for losing my orgasm pleasure . I do see an occasional posting of men who have lost their pleasure after these surgeries, with no recourse.
In Sept of 08 I recieved unprotected oral sex from a female in October I was having trerrible pain in my lower back and below my scrotum and left side of my penis. I went to the ER and they tested for Chlymidia and Gonorhea only, I test negative for both. After seeing my regular doctor he diagnosied me with prostatitus and I went on 5 weeks of Levaquin 500. The pain subsided but I noticed my urine flow was bad and I dripped a bit after I pee'd, I couldnt clear my bladder.
