He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on.
it doesn't seem to be a great drug since it lowers blood pressure too much, I almost fainted on losartan and flomax. Is it true it permenently exhausts you and causes muscle weakness?
My dad took Flomax, and definitely had the dizziness issue, which is a result of blood pressure changes. He was 30+ years older than you, and had prostate cancer, so your experience may be very different.

He was using a old polar with a chest strap. I had taken xanax in the morning to reduce my blood pressure though. I also take flomax (for BPH). Was I dehydrated? Did the xanax cut off my oxygen and cause my heart to race up quickly? I went home and later in the day, used my owen polar with chest strap and simulated the test, and at 3 minutes was only at 104! The company will give me a retest. Any comments, did I screw myself over by taking xanax?

Ever since: new symptoms -- pressure in the lower abdomen (pelvis and groin) and right side of what feels like bottom part of urinary tract, more uncomfortable when I stand (gravity?), and a constant urge to urinate (I am drinking more than 2 liters of water daily to try flush the stone).
Had some crazy stress for 3-4 years and then suddenly I had severe UTI. After the UTI, my urinary pressure (tried urologist who said prostate seems ok and gave me flomax), Now I also dont get sexually excited. I feel less sensation around the tip of my penis. Is this due to the intense stress (non stop) for 4-5yrs?
2 years ago I was going to have my prostate removed because of a cancer problem and with the new procedures available. A doctor I was going to use stuck a camera up my penis and later that day I had to go to the emergency room because I could not urinate. They stuck a catheter in to releve the problem and ever since I've had to use a catheter to urinate. I did not have my prostate removed. I had a problem some 7 years a doctor found out from a biopsy I had cancer in one area of the prostate.
If I remember correctly one of the drug companies just came out with a single pill that has both Flomax and Avodart in it. Just for your understanding, Flomax will give you relieve in just an hour or two so you can pee freely, but does not reduce the prostate size much(which is the the long term goal) where as Avodart slowly reduces the prostate size over months. Obviously, two two together will give you the best outcome.
My biggest fear is severe pain when the stent is removed due to swelling and blood clots. I will be on a alpha blocker (rapaflo, similar to flomax) for several days prior to stent removal. It is supposed to relax the ureter.
Will rapaflo prevent the severe pain or just not make it last as long? Not sure what expectations are for this medication.
Thanks for your prompt response. My dad has been taking Flomax for a few years. His ophthamologist told him that he should do the Laser PI before the cataract surgery. We were very worried as we don't want to have unnecessary complication from the PI sine his eye pressure is normal and the PI was just for prevention. Do you think we should seek another specialist? We live in Toronto.
Flomax can reduce the amouht of seman that you produce. It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
Yes, when I have a stone or stones, I'll have a much more frequent urge to urinate than when I don't have a stone. I've also experienced a very slight burning sensation at times with a stone too. Are you on anything like Flomax? I've noticed a more frequent urge since I've been taking Flomax too. Not sure if that's the Flomax, or just my age coming into play.LOL!
, where normal for him means slow urination due to long standing BHP, but not as slow, painful, and dribbling as with Flomax. We are just guessing that the way Flomax works by relaxing muscles is causing these effects. (Could the enlarged prostate end up pressing even more on muscles?? I realize these are just guesses: I have looked at a lot of medical sites, but this does not look like to be listed as a side effect!

Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms.
Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate.

I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
