Flomax and blood pressure medication

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax and blood pressure medication

Avatar n tn He takes 5 mg blood pressure med and he takes Flomax daily. When he first started taking Flomax; which he needs to be able to urinate or as he says to keep his plumbing working, anyway, he would have dizzy spells. His doctor said this was normal, a side effect of Flomax. But now lately he has been passing out; I think that is unusual for any medication and I'm worried there may be something else going on. He will not go to see the doctor because he also thinks it's because of the Flomax.
Avatar n tn 15 My very close friends doctor prescribed Flomax and Cardura for prostate problems. This has caused a lowering change in his blood pressure from approximately 120/60 to 95/50 and drastic pulse rate change from 60 BPM to 120 BPM. His doctors have done many tests cannot find any reason for this excessive increase in his pulse rate. Do you have information or suggestions as to what can be done as he has no other simptems.
Avatar n tn I have not ever been this big other than when I am pregnant. I have pressure in my abdomen that comes and goes and the lower back pain that comes and goes. I am very tired and grouchy. I just don't feel like myself. I have three kids that I have to keep up with and It is just not working. I don't know what to do either. I feel like I am going crazy.
Avatar n tn My PSA is normal, prostate is not swollen, blood pressure normal, no cholesterol, blood chemistry is fine. I don't smoke and drink only occasionally. I am about 10-15 pounds overweight but that's not unusual for a man my age. I don't exercise enough but I do watch what I eat. In every occurence, the pattern is the same: blood in my semen and more often than not, small blood clots. When I urinate after, more blood comes out along with a medium to large size blood clot.
Avatar m tn I have Crohn's disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and chronic aseptic prostatitis. I was told that I cannot take both Flomax and Pamine at the same time because my blood pressure could become too low, but that means when I am having bad prostate and bad IBS symptoms both at the same time, I have to decide which one is worse and that I want to treat and just put up with the other and try some home remedies. Also, Pamine can make the prostate symptoms worse.
284078 tn?1282620298 ) Her ocular pressure was actually only slightly elevated and with cessation of the Topamax, her pressure returned to normal in a day, while it took over a week for her vison to return to normal. It was extremely impressive the way the lens moved forward initially. After a week, the lens moved back to normal position and the eye looked completely different as if from another person. It was really something I will never forget.

Avatar f tn The doctor gave me flomax and said to see how that went. The feeling did start easing up, but didn't go away. Week by week, the feeling eased more and more. This week (March 26) i can finally say on a scale of 1-10, my discomfort is a one!! But I received a phone call from my GYN earlier this week, who told me that the urologist in Atlanta thinks I need to see a neurologist for possible MS. I've done some reading about MS.
186606 tn?1263513790 It's due to a temporary reduction in blood pressure and therefore the blood pressure warning. I assume someone with very low blood pressure might have a problem.
Avatar m tn Terazosin (Hytrin) is a selective alpha 1 antagonist used for treatment of symptoms of an enlarged prostate (BPH). It also acts to lower the blood pressure, and is therefore a drug of choice for men with hypertension and prostate enlargement." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terazosin Given the above, you should: Discontinue Advil at the earliest. Switch to other medication that does not have prostate side effects. Rule out prostatitis with your urologist.
Avatar m tn Afterwards I would feel pressure from inside of my lower abdominal area, just like you would have gas and not being able to release gas. Eventually I would get shooting pain from my anus to my lower abdomen, right above my pelvic bone. At times when I am trying to pass gas I would be in so much pain right before passing it. It would be so hard to push until I get rid of a little pressure. Even having bowl movement was so hard.
Avatar n tn He has suffered from ED for years. Is on medication for high blood pressure also prozac. I am sure the side effects are possibly a factor? He takes tablets for ED and an injection for same. This sorts ED out for him, but over the past six months he is worrying about the low volume of semen he is producing. He is a very loving and good man and I have no problem whatever with this.
Avatar n tn I am very active and work in my business about 50+ hours a week. About three years ago Flomax was prescribed for BPH/prostate. After a few months, I noticed a tremor in the calf muscle of each leg. I discontinued the Flomax, and the tremors stopped. Shortly after that I noticed swelling in my ankles. At a routine check up with my GP I mentioned the swelling in my ankles and upon checking the doctor identified A.Fib. A cardioversion was very successful.
Avatar f tn He is on blood pressure medication- amlodopine and losartan, and flomax for prostate. He also has chronic insomnia (since he was a young man) and takes xanax and halcyion as needed to sleep. In his own words- "I require a heated environment-over 80 degrees and higher. Avatar m tn Combining these medications may significantly increase the blood levels and effects of silodosin. This may cause blood pressure to fall excessively and heart rate to increase, especially when you rise from a sitting or lying position. The risk of other side effects such as dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, headache, flushing, nasal congestion, heart palpitations, and priapism (prolonged and painful erection unrelated to sexual activity) may also increase.
Avatar m tn Sitting for long periods of time, especially in an automotive vehicle, can put undo pressure on the prostate and aggravate the condition. For the latter, it is best not to sit more than 2-3 hours at a time. Stop the vehicle periodically, take a short walk and go to the bathroom to urinate. A thick pad or piece of sponge rubber on your seat will also help to cushion the prostate. One should avoid any of the above that apply.

Avatar f tn When I push on this spot, I can feel pressure inside, and when I stand up, I can feel the blood rushing to that area and hurts. Many doctors thought it was a UTI and gave me medication and none of which worked except for one, Sulfameth/Trimethoprim. I had all the symptoms of reoccuring UTI, yet doctors kept telling me the wrong thing about whether the test was posititve or not. Because they assumed it was one, without even looking at the test.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from on and off again lower back pain and sciatica for the past year. I also have GAD, BPH,and high blood pressure. I went to see the Ortho today and he prescribed 10mg hyro and 10 mg Flexeril until I can schedule PT again. My insurance at that time paid with no questions.

Avatar f tn I'd wait for results of an MRI and blood workup and then see what they say. And be sure to request a brain and whole spine MS protocol MRI...all of the spine--cerivical, thoracic, lumbar. These results may help make some distinctions among the possible etiologies for these apparent bladder innervation problems (tethered cord, t-spine compression, MS, etc.).
Avatar n tn I just discovered that I have stage 3 kidney disease and my blood pressure is good now. My blood pressure started to go down when I began to swim at least 3 times a week. I have a fused back so I don't go great guns at swimming but exercise anyway. My blood pressure has gone down because of the exercise and my weight started to go down a bit too. I had my urine tested recently and was found to have clean urine. I drink 94 oz of pure water a day. I don't eat a lot of excess salt. No soda!
