Hi again has anyone tried Flexeril (muscle relaxant)? Any bad side effects and did it help pain , I have I guess myofascial pain. Any trouble with withdrawal gettnig off of it?
My pain clinic is no longer writing for soma. I have had flexeril,robaxin,skelaxin before and they aren't as effective. What can I try?
The meds he has taken in the last 30 days are Flexeril for pulled back muscle, Ibuprophen, Tylenol, Ceftin (Antibiotic) due to a tooth being pulled the absecessed and Lortabs. Can any of these give a false positive for the Darvocet. And how can I prove it to his work place.
Since insurance would not approve the extended release flexeril, I had to stay with the generic and was told BY MY DOC to take 2 tabs 3 times daily for the spasms. I am also prescribed Dilaudid (2 mg. up to 4 times per day), but I don't use more than 1 per day now....pain is not so bad...just the spasms -- especially after PT!!!
Does anyone know very much about Flexeril? I just received an call from someone that thinks they may have overdosed on it. He usually does not take it and took up to ten 10mg tablets today and feels somewhat out of it. 100mg in one shot shouldn't do too much should it? He is in No. CA and I'm in So. CA so I can't get to him. Should I be concerned about him not waking up? Apparently he took six of them yesterday and I read the half life is 1-3 days.
t take Baclofen because I had bad side effects to it when I did try it. So she said she would talk to the doctor about increasing my Flexeril, but with it being a Friday, I won't plan on hearing back from her today. and I just had my 30 day supply filled so I won't be able to get a new script filled anyway.
Oh well. I think I'm going to take a nap and then tackle cleaning the car.
Last trip in to neuro, he didn't want to rx much with no dx. He's supposed to be among the best around, but I tell you, I'm about fed up with him and his office. I think I asked about Baclofen, among other things.
More than once in the past I've had flexeril, which I like too much, but it makes me very sleepy, and it seems to linger in my system for a day or mnore after just one dose.
I find that it works pretty well for me and for me, it does not make me as sleepy as flexeril does (another muscle relaxer), but of course, everyone is different, so it may very well affect you differently.
I've also tried Skelaxin, but for me, it did absolutely nothing.
Alcohol and flexeril are both central nervous system suppressants and consuming alcohol while taking flexeril compounds the drowsiness, confused thinking, respiratory suppression of the muscle relaxant. Flexeril/alcohol combos are frequent causes of accidental overdose.
I would avoid the alcohol while taking the flexeril completely. If you already were consuming alcohol, I would skip the flexeril for at least 12 hours or more, depending upon how much alcohol you consumed.
As for the pain i take 2 200 mg naproxens 2x per day, plus a flexeril. the longest i went without vicodins was three months. i want to say i am a casual user, but that is in the eye of the beholder. isn't it?
Flexeril is not addictive if you use it only when needed I took it for years for a bad back but you dont get hi on it so for the most part if taken as directed your ok just stay away from soma that is a different story...................................Gnarly.....................................
I have taken flexeril, could not take more than a 1/4 or I would feel very odd. Maybe that was a good thing. You can get a pill cutter and start cutting your dose. We aren't allowed to talk about how to dose hopefully you can get the jist of this. While trying to wean down I would up your vitamins. There is something called a Thomas Recipe but that is for narcotics,so not sure if it would work for you. Your muscles may need more magnesium than normal.
It starts the second i get out of bed in the mornings and gets worse as the days go buy. I been taking flexeril for about two days now. Ive been having them for about 3 months when this started and never took them. My symptoms went away for a week or two after lasting for a week or two. Then it came back so i decided to start taking it. Im not denying that i have panic attacks cause i also have xanax and i take them .5 mg once a day.
I am new to this site, saw your post, and feel compelled to tell you about my experience with Flexeril. Several years ago I was having serious neck spasms, so my doctor prescribed Flexeril. I don't remember the milligram, it was standard, and I was to take 3 a day. The first day I took three, I found myself looking at my bottle of pain medication thinking about taking the whole bottle at once! I immediately threw the Flexeril in the trash.
Flexeril is a muscle relaxant. Sweetie, I would ask your doctor about something like that before taking anything. You never know if you will have a reaction to a medication and if it was not prescribed to you and you received it from someone else that person could potentially be in trouble with the law. I do not believe Flexeril is addictive. But, please call your doctor instead.

WTG for being clean from vicodin for 3 weeks!!! AWESOME!!!
I take a flu shot every year.I take 10 mgs of generic flexeril to stop my muscles from cramping I take these 3 times a day. They do occur mainly at night. I have had ischemic colitis. My other health concerns are severe arthritis in the joints of my hands knees ankles and back. I am scheduled to have my right thumb replaced at the end of Aug. I have regular shots in these joints. The other joint replacements will follow. I have gerd very bad . this has led to barts esophagus.
