I think they are just muscle relaxers but I am not sure.

With Flexeril, yes it works but depends on what you taking along with it. For example don't take it with a benzo like xanax. Baclofen is very good. I even read that in higher doses it can be used for addictions like alcohol and maybe heroin. It was in the Wikipedia site for it. Was very i teresting read.

Flexeril and soma are both muscle relaxers....doesn't seem as if teking both each day would be of any benefit...flexeril is the safer of the two as far as addiction....there are some warnings posted as far as anti-depressents and some of the aminos...I was on lexapro (anti-depressent) during detox...nuerontin, I also take flexeril rarely but it can help you sleep..I followed the recipe without difficulty...

Well I've never taken soma but have taken flexeril a lot, to help me sleep and to help with back spasms, I have never gotten any type of 'buzz' from it. Upon comparing the two on drugs.com under warning on soma it says not to take it if you have a history of alcohol or other substance abuse or dependence but under flexeril there is nothing of the sort. And can any medications affect the results of an EMG or biopsy. I am currently on Soma Cmpd 350 mg 3x, Flexeril 10 mg 3x, Baclofen 20 mg 4x, Valium 5mg 2x, Amitriptyline 25 mg 1x. And still with no relief.

I am on Norco an was on Soma a few months ago. I have muscle pain as well as arthritis and nerve pain in my back so the Soma did help with the muscle pain. Now that I'm not on Soma my back just burns with muscle pain. I really want to go back on it. Soma works right away when you take it. The only drawback is that it will make you sleepy.

I was prescribed this for extreme violent muscle spasms. Dr said non narcotic non addictive. Well my experience with Dr and Percocet i no longer believe in their opinion. So experts can u give me truth. Thanks so much.

I have never heard of, and cant imagine, anyone developing a problem wth flexeril. Relax and let the meds do their job - and hopefully the flexeril will work effectively for you....

Don't worry flexeril isn't part of a drug screen anyway. They aren't looking for that kind of stuff, they are concerened with street drugs primarily. I take drug screens all the time and when I was taking heavy doses of opiates no-one ever said a thing... LOL!

m taking baclofen and robaxen i'm having a bad reaction from the baclofen, Does anyone know of any good non narcotic muscle relaxents?

I was prescribed Flexeril (a muscle relaxer) today for my back pain. I am 37 weeks. Has anyone else taken muscle relaxers and did you have any issues with it?

Hi there, In my opinion, I would stay away from the muscle relaxers. The ones you mentioned are very sedating, and in some states SOMA is considered a controlled substance. I would try OTC pain meds - it just depends on what works best for you - Aleve, Tylenol, Ibuprofen, etc., all really do a good job of alleviating pain. If the OTC's don't work, you doctor can always prescribe a non-narcotic pain reliever, but I'd give the OTC's a try.

but some people tend to like abusing soma/ and if used daily in big amounts it must be tapered like benzos and trams....someone who takes 2 soma a day as RX-ed is not in addiction territory and most would not have an issue...but an addict may so it is not worth it...flexeril is much safer.

My pain clinic is no longer writing for soma. I have had flexeril,robaxin,skelaxin before and they aren't as effective. What can I try?

If the flexeril doesn't help, ask for Soma. It COULD I fact be muscle spasms that are actually causing pressure ON the nerve(s). That's a problem that I had and only until they had me on a STRONG ENOUGH muscle relaxer it kept happening. They were happening at times every few minutes & I started to look like I had a shock collar on, lol (NOW anyway). Some docs don't like Soma, so if he balks at that idea, ask him if you can try 2 flexeril.

why is he having muscle spasms? I have taken flexeril and soma for many many years..( never that many at a time) I would think if his spasms are severe enough to do that he would go to a dr. or the ER. I hope he is ok....but the guy neeeds help and only a dr can do it....It may be from a chemical imbalance that he is getting the spasms...and no muscle relaxer will do anything for that long term.

I've only known two people on soma and both were really hooked onit. I don't know if it is mental or physical. I know the one gal was in detox for 8 months as they weaned her down with klonopin. She had a tough time.

I've tried both Soma and Flexeril (not at same time!) for muscle relaxers (I have fibromyalgia, lupus, severe arthritis). Really the only side effect I've experienced with the Flexeril is that it makes me VERY sleepy, but when I'm hurting and having trouble getting the rest that I need, that actually is a good thing!

What I am wondering is, has anyone used Flexeril to help them sleep at night? My husband has some, and I am just remembering how hard it was to sleep. I will have to use something to help sleep at night because I work Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00.

I have been on Baclofen for about a month and It is working better than either Soma or Flexeril. I have had to increase the dosage, but I haven't felt any side effects such as impaired thinking or reactions. That may be because my muscle spasms are so bad. I have been diagnosed with UCTD and the docs are leaning towrd SLE.

Soma is a muscle relaxer but it is addictive. If you have flexeril or some other non addictive muscle relaxer that would be better.

You said your Dr put you on Flexeril and Soma for sleep? They are muscle relaxers, so thats odd. I have taken both and yes they made me drowsy but Not enough to sleep soundly, but that was me! I have also heard some bad things about Soma which is why I stopped taking them. HA I actually stopped a pill because it was bad for me! :) I hope that you find something that works for you. I have an office job and do a lot with the mouse and keyboard. I am currently taking ultram 4 times a day Flexeril 3 times a day, toprol 3 times a day, benicar, 1 a day, Neurotin 300 mg. 3 x a day. It is not helping. I have pain in my legs and lower back also. I am having a terrible time trying to stay awake each day. Between 10 and 2 I feel like my head is continually dropping. Has anyone found anything for this fatigue?

I think my friend is hooked on benadryl! I have taken 5 mg flexeril for chronic back pain for years and never had any problems with it...I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....

I was just diagnosed with an autoammune disease and don't want to take plaquenil just yet. Doctor said to take celebrex and a muscle relaxer. I have been taking 1 mg of xanax for 3 weeks and before that it was about twice a week as needed. I was having such anxiety and sleep issues rhemy said to take it every day. Now 3 weeks later she wants to try the new coctail of celebrex and muscle relaxer.
