Avatar f tn i also have been using coconut oil in my coffee with agave and in my smoothies ive read so many differant articles stating all the benefits of using coconut oil, fish oil, flaxseed, parssley tea. can i benefit from them?
Avatar f tn I was eating 12 almonds a day, 1 Fish Oil pill, 1 Black Current Oil pill, 1 Softgel multiple vitamin and 2 Tsps. of peanut butter throughout the day along with the 2 Tablespoons of Flax oil prescribed. Is there any other oils I can take to help with dry eye and macular degeneration that won't hurt the heart? I also use hot and cold compresses for the dry eye.
480331 tn?1310403529 It mentioned that it could cause mild contractions but it also said that it really helped support the health of the uterus. And it did seem like it was more for ladies outside of their first trimester and really beneficial if you were getting ready for labor. Also, she told me to take flaxseed oil, a tsp of molasses (for iron) and some form of amino acid.
Avatar m tn What vitamins and minerals are good for eye health and what are the optimal amounts? As far as I know, Vitamin A, beta carotene, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, zinc, lutein, and billberry are good for eyes.
Avatar n tn Lead researcher Wendy Demark-Wahnefried, PhD, said previous studies of flaxseed and a low-fat diet have shown good results in prostate cancer, but researchers weren't sure if the benefits came from the diet, the flaxseed, or both. "The [new] results showed that the men who took just flaxseed as well as those who took flaxseed combined with a low-fat diet did the best, indicating that it is the flaxseed which is making the difference," she said.
3240150 tn?1346710646 when my husband performs oral sex on me, does he get any of the same helath benefits such as antidepressants, melatonin, or serotonin?
Avatar f tn Say what! Because a I have United Healthcare as well and it is also from Minnesota, I think this is the ridiculous insurance ever, every time we do bloodwork, that send me a bill saying this and that is not covered and the bill is over $200 that I have to pay out of my pocket. My total out of pocket doctors visit was estimated to be 670 with my insurance but, honestly I have to pay almost twice that amount.
Avatar n tn The Budwig diet is mainly composed of flaxseed oil and cottage cheese with restrictions on eating animal meats, butter and sugars. Some holistic health enthusiasts believe that cancer patients are deficient in essential lipids that cottage cheese mixed with flaxseed can replace. The scientific journal “Deutsche Medizinische Wochenschrift” published a study in 2012 that determined that cancer diets, such as the Budwig, diet do not cure cancer and can have adverse health effects.
Avatar f tn I added 2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed to my diet for the past year. I was very discouraged when I received the results of my lipid panel results. Last year: total chol.=238, trig.=59, HDL=101, LDL=125. This year: total chol.=240, trig.=67, HDL=98, LDL=128. My bad numbers went up and my good number (HDL) went down. Why? (I am a 60 year old female. I exercise regularly (jog and ballet), I am 5'2" and weigh 92 pounds.
Avatar f tn I've got 2 good books which give an amazing amount of information about the benefits of nutrition and exercise. Both are "anti-cancer" in nature but after all that is exactly what we're trying to avoid, isn't it? Here they are, both are written by medical doctors: 1. "Natural Strategies for Cancer Patients" by Russell Blaylock, MD 2. "Anticancer-A New Way of Life" by David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD Good luck!
Avatar f tn I do alright using flaxseed meal rather than the psyllium based fibers that you mentioned. I can use just a little in water, like the fiber drinks, or just sprinkle a little on my food. It's an actual food product and it has nutritional benefits, like omega 3. I buy the Bob's Red Mill that is available at Trader Joe's, because it's more affordable. It's already ground flaxseed meal. I haven't heard of the Heather's Tummy Fibers, so I'll have to look for that.
Avatar n tn Has anyone used flaxseed oil for the 20g's of fat. I thought if I mixed it with a fruit smoothy it would be tolerable and I also found a flavored flaxseed oil but that was pretty expensive. I want to try to use the "good" fat for protease inhibitor. This anti-depressant already has me eating like crazy. I start this Friday Yikes!!
Avatar m tn s been promoted as a cure-all for dozens of diseases and conditions. But, for the most part, those “health claims” are unsubstantiated and, at best, shaky. Plus, there are serious side effects of flax seed oil. For example, Some researchers believe flaxseed may affect blood clotting factors. This can be particularly worrisome for individuals who are taking blood thinning medications such as Coumadin, Heparin or even aspirin.
Avatar f tn 1 ratio of Omega-3:Omega-6. I get plenty of O-sixes from my diet (they are easy for most of us) but don't eat nearly enough foods rich in O-threes to keep a good ratio going. Therefore, I supplement heavy on the Omega-3 side. That makes my supplements a bit more expensive but why go cheap if I end up paying for an overabundance of what I already have and remain deprived of what I need? Luckily, flax seed is an excellent alternative to fish oil when you're considering quality OR cost.
Avatar f tn I don't know the full answer to your question, but I do know there is supposed to be a food grade form. The kind you find in nurseries or in pet stores is the wrong grade. One pet store where I live sells it for people who have hens and it's meant to be for their dust baths. The plant nurseries sell it for insect control, and it works great for killing pests like fleas in the home. I do know there is a food grade form, but as far as how safe it is for health benefits, I'm unsure.

Avatar f tn Where to Get Brewers Yeast You can get brewers yeast from health food stores, in the home brew section of your local Big W or in health food isles of supermarkets. It’s a bit cheaper to buy brewers yeast from supermarkets than from health food stores or home-brew suppliers.
Avatar f tn So I have taken 5 rounds of clomid with each round preceded by prometrium to induce af. on my last cycle af never came, apparently my lining was too thin to have af. my doc wanted to put me on bc for a month to build up my lining but I can't take birth control (the high estrogen makes me grow precancerous lumps in my breasts). So she put me on flaxseed oil, she said it is a plant estrogen which might help with my lining. Has anyone done this?? Did it work?
