Try Antihistaminics (such as Fexofenadine), nasal steroids and drink plenty of warm water. The sore throat (pharyngitis) rather than tonsillitis is probably because of the allergy itself. He did a chest x-ray and said that it was all normal. He then said I had strep throat and gave me AMOXICILLIN (antibiotic) and sent me away. The antibiotics helped a little bit but as soon as it got over my symptoms came back.
So then I went to the hospital ER when it got REALLY BAD...and the hospital did another chest xray, neck xray and an EKG. Everything came back normal. So they said I had air reactive disease and gave me zyrtec-D and sent me away.

Ihave been sufferring from sinus problems for long time...ex are facial pressure nasl blockag wihout mucus , mucus dripping at back of throat when waking up from sleep. I had done mri year back and it showed infection in forehead and cyst on left side of face....i am taking nasacort and fexofenadine hcl for months and tried other antihistamine also, but the symtoms persist....i am a liver patient with conginetal hepatic fibrosis and 31 years....liver enzymes r normal....
Ever since I got my wisdom teeth taken out over a year ago, I've been getting a strange taste/smell in my throat and nose. It's not constant, but after I've had a bit of a cold or something it gets worse. It's mostly in my nose currently, and whenever I sniff I can smell it. I went to the doctor once and they prescribed a nasal spray (nasonex I believe). It helped but didn't make it go away completely.
Or could you have one that appears dry and irrated-like? I know that doesnt sound like a typical cold sore, but I had these 2 spots a few days apart on my mouth and they had the pre-tingle, were reddish, but they were completely dry and kinda flaky looking. This was the first time something has shown up like that, so Im a bit confused. Anyone know what this could be?
Are you having any throat irritation as well? Sometimes throat irritation and cough may be caused by GERD and zintac will take care of that. The doctor is getting the x-rays and blood test to look out for other systemic diseases like liver disease which may be aggravating your condition.
If your itching does not improve with these medicines also, you can go in for immunotherapy.

When I came up out of the water, my ears started throbbing in pain and my throat was all tense like. I got the water out of my ears and they started becoming less painful after awhile but then got alot worse. I layed down for a while and the pain got so bad that I started to cry. My mom gave me some ibprofen to help the pain, it would really be painful when i burped or sneezed. If someone could tell me what I had/ have i would greatly apperciate it!!
My symptoms include swollen lymph node on my right side, very horrible sore throat, puffy eye lids, and also my ears clog up like when I'm up in an airplane, and I can't really hear anything. See if you can get a prescription called omperazole it's for heart burn and acid reflux. I just got on it because of sore throats and it's amazing. Haven't had sore throat since. Worth a shot. It's safe to take.
I took one benedryl last night and then today I woke up with a sore throat. I am pretty sure it is from drainage because one of my ears hurts too! Anyone know anything I can take over the counter for it? Any help would be great! I am starting to get a small cold. So far its just burning eyes, I've been sneezing, my nose is runny & my throat is so sore. The sore throat pain is the worse. Since I cant call my Dr right now, what can i take for the soreness? I read that honey, lemon & water works but that sounds nasty right now & i dont want an upset stomach on of it. I read cough drops are ok but then that they are not. Any suggestions?
