For the passed year and possibly even longer I have had this never ending sore throat , I go to doctors and they always say its allergies and they give me allegra d and every time i take it and my sore throat is gone , I can actually enjoy swallowing again .. But once my script is out then it comes back and in the mornings it feels like i have been left in a desert and when I swallow it feels like I am swallowing nails .
Hot tea with honey and lemon, salt water gargle, throat lozenges, Tylenol, Vick's are all fine. Maybe check with your doc if the sore throat doesn't improve within a few days- they may want to check for strep. Feel better!
So now the doctor that I recently am seeing now (the one who did the chest xray and blood work) wants me to do another trial of prilosec and allegra for 30 days and see if that doesn't help. But I've been on both again for almost 5 days and it doesn't seem to be letting up. Infact throat is even more tender at night now. My nose was running alot too but that's seems to have cleared up.
My sore throat still hasn't gone away and now I have a big blister in the back of my throat and am starting develop white dots. I was thinking it could be strep throat, but now I have developed two blisters each on seperate sides of my chin and am starting to develop one above my lip.
plus i have got skin allergic rashes on my stomach for that i am taking antihistamine tablets (allegra).....so i took some kind of antibiotic tablt for the throat infection ....bt its not going off .....plss help me iam getting worried that some severe infection happened to me ...pls any body had like this infection and they got cured immediatly ...plss suggst me something ...
Were 5weeks and I am now sick. It hit me yesterday. Stuffy nose turned into a runny nose. Woke up with a sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, headache, some nosy aches. Our weather has changed drastically where I live and I have allergies and get sick at the drop of a hat, but now that I'm pregnant, I can't just take medicine like normal.
My question is, what medicine can I take while pregnant to get rid of this sickness.
A sore throat, persistent for two months is rather unusual and definitely atypical for Strep throat, especially after two courses of antibiotics, assuming that one or both of the antibiotics given were capable of eradicating a conventional strep infection. Your doctors were right to check for Gonorrhea as that definitely cause a refractory sore throat. Another organism that can cause, not uncommonly cause acute and/or chronic sore throat is Mycoplasma Pneumonia.
I had allergy tests and have been on Allegra and a nasal spray....no relief. It appears that all of a sudden my throat is dry and has a "catch" in it and I start coughing and then water pours out of my eyes and tons of mucous pours out of my mouth. I am at my wits end because it takes all my energy from me, leaves me with a headache and my throat is getting sore. It seems to me that something else is going on other than the asthma, allergies. I have a titanium plate in my neck.
Been to several doctors that say it looks like drainage, and gave me antibiotics for a possible sinus infection. My throat has not been very sore, but the irritation includes a raw, bloody streak on the right side of the very back of my throat, with some dialated blood vessels on the left. Neg tests for strep, and nothing noticeably swollen. It has also made my right ear feel funny...but not horribly painful. !
I skipped the Tramadol for a second time for a day and half and the soar throat returned. Instead of taking the Tramadol, I tried a few different tactics. I took some Dayquil and Nightquil (not at the same time of course) and that didn't help a single bit. Then I tried some samples of Allegra D that my Fiance' had because I thought maybe it was allergies. Once again it had no effect. I went back to the final few pills of the tramadol and again it worked miracles on my throat.
I have excessive phlegm, but no cough, seems to be worse after I eat. I am constantly clearing my throat, & getting a sore throat b/c of trying to clear it all the time. I'm getting some relief from Allegra, and some natural remedies, but it's not enough.
) I have not taken the Allegra for two days to see if this would help the dryness, but it has not. I do have an infection under a tooth where I had a root canal a few years ago. I finished the antibiotic for the infection about a week and a half ago and still have a slight swelling around the site of the infection. Also, it is dry where I live due to the furnace running, and I have been using a humidifier. I have also tried hard candy to add saliva.
Have also been dealing with anxiety and panic attacks (not previously an anxious person), urine incontinence and urgency/frequency in urination, acid reflux, fatigue, forgetting things easily, general weakness, extremely dry and cracked skin (this one could be due to a lack of vitamin C in my diet), my hair is thinning, I sweat a lot and for no reason mainly from my armpits and I am not previously a person that sweats easily, heat intolerance and hot flashes that sometimes occur with anxiety s
Hi, the other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the windpipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people.
That helped a whole bunch for months, but now it is back even worse, even though I am still on Allegra. I tried Nasonex too...I have a cough too and I feel like a good antibiotic would clear it all up, but the doctor says no. I just want to feel better . Some of these entries are old...why not write again and tell us what you did to get relief.

For several mornings I have to clear my throat, and the roof of my mouth is very tender, when I try to clear nasal passage through mouth I have severe bleeding, this area is very tender and raw feeling. I have to apply pressure bandage to stop bleeding. I take Allegra allergy medication, and Nasacort nose spray. What can I do to stop tenderness and bleeding, and could this be infection?
The doctor perscribed me anti-malaria drugs and two different types of anti-biotics for my sore throat. Which later led to a yeast infection. I was given a 12-day monsitat like medicine but decided to take a diflucan pills I had handy. But, the yeast infection persisted. And so I took the monistat and it went away.
Now yesterday, I woke up with a more severe sore throat which I attributed to post nasal drip (the window fan was blowing air into my face all night; that tends to do it to me). This time the soreness persisted the whole entire day. I went to bed last night with a lot of phlegm in my throat and woke up this morning with a lot of soreness and phlegm once again. I tried to hack up the phlegm. Most of it was clear or yellow. Then I managed to get a real good one...
