Avatar n tn Fenofibrate If cholelithiasis is suspected in a patient receiving ZETIA and fenofibrate, gallbladder studies are indicated and alternative lipid-lowering therapy should be considered [see ADVERSE REACTIONS and the product labeling for fenofibrate]. Choleithiasis is Gallstones in the gallbladder. Ask about it. Use this site or the FDAs website to look up the drug interactions and precautions when taking the two drugs together, and if you Dr is not hearing it, then go to another DR.
315318 tn?1353251800 I also take Crestor ( a statin), 20 mg. In addition,to these, I take insulin for diabetes, synthyroid for hypothyroidism, metaprolol and lisinopril for blood pressure, Aspirin ( 320 mg) , and Efient ( 10 mg) as blood thinners to stop any clotting in a new stent on my LAD. Once I started taking the fenofibrate, I suddenly got muscular pain, especially in my thighs and getting up a flight of stairs became difficult.
Avatar m tn Tricor is a Fenofibrate which helps control cholesterol and TGLS by blocking their abosorbtion into your system through your intestinal tract. There is an extremely and I mean EXTREMELY small chance that Tricor can cause Diabetes, but it is extremely rare. How high was you fasting blood sugar level? What does your doctor say? Let us know so we can hellp provide better help.
Avatar m tn my mother,55y, she got her lab result with rising in cholesterol and triglyceride about 3month ago. she started to take fenofibrate 200mg once a day. and now new lab result show normal range of all types of fat. does she need to continue with a maintenance dose of fenofibrate or it isnt necessary?
315318 tn?1353251800 However, it relates to a drug I take for cardio-vascular problem but the more tangible result seems to be in diabetes control. In a nutshell, it just proves that you can not treat body parts in isolation ! I am a diabetic on insulin. Recently , I was prescribed a fenofibrate (Trilipix 135 mg) along with Crestor. My cardio wanted this for helping in getting my triglycerides down. I have not had a lipid profile done since starting on this med two months ago.
315318 tn?1353251800 Since then even on walking a short distance I get pain in thighs, buttocks and calves. However, no pain in my feet. The pain is felt in the muscles rather than in the bones. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation after angioplasty ? Thanks.
Avatar n tn What are the risks of operating on him without lowering these levels. By the way, his HDL and LDL cannot be calculated due to the elevated Chol. and Tri. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Over the last 8 months i stopped taking the tri-cor because insurance no longer covered it and I decreased my simvastatin to 20mg. At the same time in increased my fiber significantly (metemucil and high fiber cereal daily) and began taking one 1000mg of fish oil each day. Lost a few pounds as well, I'm 41, 5'10" and 173lbs non-smoker. I got my test results back and my total cholesterol went down from 165 on 40mg of simvastatin/tri-cor to 150 on 20mg of simvastatin only.
1143283 tn?1408903305 Statin drugs can be exceedingly effective with very low risk in lowering both cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and also taking 2000 of a good quality fish oil can help. As a former commercial fisherman, I'd recommend a fish oil such as herring, mackerel or tuna, or oil from wild-caught salmon. Salmon oil from Atlantic or Chilean salmon is always from farmed salmon and the nutrition levels/quality is poor.
Avatar n tn After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
Avatar m tn Fenofibrate is a drug which is used to treat high cholesterol levels and high triglyceride levels in the blood. It is used in combination with a diet low in cholesterol and saturated fat. Fenofibrate may also be used for purposes other than those mentioned. Fenofibrate is only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control. You need to follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely.
Avatar f tn The tablet is a combination of Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate. As such, it lowers BOTH LDL or and triglycerides (which will bring down your total cholesterol). Exercise or any physical activity is supposed to help with HDL. Also factoring into the ratio. Lifestyle things along with medication can be very beneficial. Did they give you liver function testing prior to starting. As to side effects, there is a good chance you won't have any.
Avatar n tn Less than 150 Your biggest concern should be lowering your LDL. You should cut back on foods high in fat and cholesterol. High TGLs can be controlled by cutting back on empty carbs like Sugars, breads and pastas. Also, if you drink, stop as that will also metabolize as sugar. Also, your numbers are high enough that you really should discuss a statin for your Cholesterol and a fenofibrate for your serum TGLs as life style changes may not be enough.
Avatar m tn My triglycerides were in 200+ range and now down to 60. Two things that made the biggest difference are : 1) Nialor (Instant release Niacin) - 3*500mg - You could use any other brand. 2) Oats + 10 almonds + 1 walnut for breakfast - 5 days a week.
Avatar n tn My daughter has Type 1 diabetes. When blood sugar is too high, it can build ketones up in the blood which are potentially fatal if not treated. The way to get rid of these ketones is by lowering the blood sugar that caused them, AND by flushing them out via the urinary tract.
Avatar f tn Your numbers are what "they" call PRE-diabetes. Many of us dont believe in PRE your diabetic... your pancreas is still working a little. now is the time start controlling your blood sugars (BG ) so you dont develop the complications that go along with high BG. The distinction between pre-diabetes and diabetes is a line drawn in the sand. "They" have been moving the line, lowering the number for the threshold.
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar n tn Then again in Feb 2012 his TGL was 289.He took medicine fenofibrate for about a month. His TGL in June2012 was 319 and in Dec 2012 was 370. But weight was 66.5kg .He took again fenofibrate for 1.5 months and with diet strictly avoiding sugar and low fat almost fat free . Now in March2013 the TGL level is down by about 100 points but again in the last 2.5 months there has been weight loss and wt is down to 63.8 ie about 64 kg. Weight reduced by 2 kg in such a short time again. WHY?

Avatar n tn Proper diabetic nutrition, maintaining proper weight, and physical exercise are the most important factors in controlling this disease. Read through the post below as I have addressed these issues, especially food choices on what to eat and what to avoid, numerous times. Above all continue with your exercise and weight loss goals.
Avatar f tn Meds I am currently on are levothyroxine and fenofibrate. I was on buspirone but just quit that a few days ago. I did have this happen one other time a few weeks ago, but the second time after that everything was normal, so I wasn't worried. I believe at that time I was off the meds or just starting them.
Avatar f tn It started with a mild neuropathy in my right foot and seems to now be affecting my whole body. I have been to a neurologist and had an EMG, but still have now conclusion to what is causing this. My neurologist has me on 800 mg of Gabapentin per day to help with the tingling and burning sensations, which helps some, but not a lot.
Avatar m tn I use a formula called Omega-3 Heart Health from Jamieson Laboratories . It did the trick in about a month! Also try cutting back on sugar intake and carbs in general because that can raise your triglyceride levels too. It's different than cholesterol, which is mainly affected by your fat intake. Hope that helps!
Avatar n tn My father presented with a-fib (it seems to run in our family) for what he thought was the first time while excecising (treadmill) at the local gym back in Feb/March. He stepped off the treadmill for a few minutes and converted to sinus rythm on his own. He visited the cardiologist who ordered a 24 hour holter monitor which turned up that he is in afib approximately 7% of every day (and he does not feel it). He has no other known heart problems (is on cholosterol lowering medication).
