why can't his HDL and LDL be calculated?
doctor has adviced me to take rosuvastatin and fenofibrate tablets.can you please tell me whether it helps to reduce weight?
Starting at age 45 to present (age 53) my blood resuls on a average run ldl 65, hdl 41, total col 165, and triglisarides between180 and 280, the tries being hi could this lead to heart disease.
For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc. I guess really the most important question would be – is any one of these statins more proven than the rest in regards to reducing cardiovascular events?

If you get your TGL's under control, your numbers should be OK in total. Much depends on your LDL an HDL levels. The quickest way for you to cut your TGLs is to stop drinking. Alcohol metabolizes as sugar and increases TGLs. Stop drinking and your number should drop. Also, cut out all empty carbs such as breads and pastas as well.
I have noticed since I began taking fenofibrate that I experience cloudy urine after I eat certain foods. It only happens the first time I uninate after eating these foods and becomes clear thereafter. It seems that it is triggered with creamy and greasy foods. Is there cause for concern?

Today we did the blood test for my husband and his TG is 519 mg/dl. Total Cholestrol is 208 mg/dl, LDL is 142 mg/dL and HDL is 34.42 mg/dl.His S. amylase is slightly elevated 112 U/l. Now a new develpoment happened is slightly elevated TSH of 4.59, which was normal till 1 year back. So please advice what this indicates? is he developing hypothyroidism? how can he regulate his TG and TSH?

New reading lies to low normal reference range. Dr. recommended to continue Rosvin F for one month. I little bit worried about dose. Let me know should I continue Rosvin F.
Fenofibrate in combination with a Statin drug can cause severe Rhabdomyolysis. I know because I have gone through it. My muscle pain got so severe that I couldn't even move my arms and I wound up in the ER with kidney (also a muscle) pain so severe, I was climbing the walls.
Ever since I started taking Zetia and Fenofibrate together as recommended by my DR, I have put on pounds, am more bloated around the belly,a nd have persistent chest pains. I noticed this has occurred ever since I have been on cholesterol lowering meds, but is more noticeable in the past year with the new combination of drugs. I wouldn't consider a total cholesterol level of 231 to be intermediate, I'd think that would in the high range or very close to it.
my mother,55y, she got her lab result with rising in cholesterol and triglyceride about 3month ago. she started to take fenofibrate 200mg once a day. and now new lab result show normal range of all types of fat. does she need to continue with a maintenance dose of fenofibrate or it isnt necessary?
My cholesterol now runs about 185, with a good part of that being a high HDL, and high HDL is good, seems to be at odds with going for a lower total, but that is the case.
You didn't mention heart rate, if it is in the 50s it could contribute to dizziness. And remember to ask what your Oximeter (Oxygen saturation) number is,should be between 95-100%. I doubt 100% is possible. Below 90% is very troublesome and I think critical - need oxygen.
Unfortunately, in cases where gentics play a role, statins are the first line of therapy. You can ask your doctor about a Fenofibrate, they work well on TGL's and lower one's overall total cholesterol, but are not as effective on LDL. You are on one of the more powerful statins so you can ask your doctor about Vytorin which is simple Simvastatin and Zetia which works both in the liver and in the digestive tract. Simvastatin is usually better tolerated than Lipitor.
s the quality of the particles and not the count that matters. Many people with HDL counts as high as yours have HDL-3 particles that are very small and not as effective when binding to LDL.
If it were me I would give pravastatin a chance, but if I had the same side effects and I could not live with them, I would try something like Zetia. You could also add a fenofibrate like Tricor to lower your TGLs as well, very safe and no side effects.
