Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!

Hello! well i just took my first femara pill today (its my first medicated cycle- will be doing trigger, iui and progesterone this cycle) Its similar to clomid in the sense that it stimulates ovulation, and from what i hear also can help increase progesterone in the LP and lengthen it simliar to clomid...

This will be my 2nd iui and this will be my third cycle on femara. I cycle on femara with iui, one cycle just femara and this cycle on femara with hopefully iui around the 30th, 1st or 2nd(weekend). We have been ttc for over 2yrs and have unexplained infertility. All of our blood work and tests and u/s are perfect. Our sperm is perfect and eggs and uterus look great. I was just looking for others that are going thru the same thing so we could support each other!!

Hi- I just finished a round of femara-getting ready for an IUI next week. I've had 3 failed IUI's. The first was an unmedicated cycle, the second was with clomid and i only had 2 follicles. My uterine lining was VERY thin (clomid naturally thins the lining) so my RE switched me to femara for my third IUI. I had 6 follies! But none took so I will do my 4th IUI next week. I love the femara-I have had no side effects. On clomid I had headaches and hot flashes. Good luck to you!!!!

Has anyone taken femara w/o IUI and had any luck? Any advice? What kind of side effects should i expect with femara?

I ovulate on Clomid - but did not on Femara. I will start Femara again, maybe a higher dose this time with trigger and IUI! Hoping it works this time - but that is pretty much all my RE is prescribing now, he loves it!

It all depends I took femara one cycle with injectable (ovidrel) & an iui & worked on the first try. I'm 5 weeks & 3 days today. Clomid works but not for everyone clomid often thickens the cervical mucus which makes it hard for the sperm to swim to contect to the egg. I was taking tussin as well my last cycle of clomid but it didn't work. I had 6 cycles of clomid three solo & three with iui's. I wish you the best of luck.

okay... this is my second IUI, this time using Bravelle and Femara. My first iui I tried without meds and it did not work. It's nice to see that there are places like this to be able to talk to others that are trying the very same thing as me! =) I had my iui earlier today, so I'm officially in my 2ww..... ahhhh its already driving me crazy!

My question is. Is there any one who has taken just femara with out IUI and fallen pregnant? Just tradtional BD? I am considering doing this as i have one course of femara left but dont want to do the iui its too much pressure. Please let me know if you have had any succuess and what you did. my cycle is a 31 day..

we also have used femara, for quite a few cycles now! we have had two pregnancies (with femara +follistim and IUI) but miscarried unfortunately : ( it does have great results though, its great for endometriosis patients too, since it does overproduce estrogen like some medications..

It happend to be day one of AF. My doctor wants to do IUI this cycle with femara. I go back on Jan 12 for U/S. My question is would you get your trigger shot on the day of the u/s if there are good follies or is it common to have multiple U/S's if the follies aren't ready? And then when do you go back for the procedure? I have read a lot of people go back within 36 hours. We live over an hour from the RE. Has anyone been in this situation?

My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. I'm just wondering what to expect? I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts). I had little to no side effects. Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?

femara + follistim injectables worked for us several times (we did miscarry though) i used 5mg femara days 3-7 and follistim days 3, 5, 7 and 9 ...with IUI.. GOOD LUCK!!! it works for a lot of people!

s low and must have another tomorrow and see if it increases or else he would cancel the IUI . So does Femara causes a drop in the E2 level? Is this normal?it's my very first time to use Femara! Any help will be appreciated !

Was your uterine lining thin before the Clomid. I hope this IUI works for you. I am in the dreaded TWW too.

i started femara this month 5 - 9 and went on cd 13 and didn't have any follicles that looked good. i am going back on friday for another ultra sound - unless i get a positive opk today or thursday. then the plan is getting the hcg shot and iui. what cycle day are you?

I am due for my first iui in sep ..am on letrozole ( femara) days 5-9..

I had my 1st appt with an RE today. He wants to do a superovulation / IUI with Letrozole. I am to take 2 - 2.5mg tablets days 3 - 7. After reading up on this, it is the same thing as Femara right? Has anyone taken this med and does it actually work alone? My other ? is, he said that we can try this for 3 - 4 cycles, but after that we have to think about IVF?? The only things that I have tried in the past are 4 cycles of clomid and 1 IUI. Why would he skip injectables??

Today is CD 1 and I will start taking Femara CD 5 - 9. We are planning an IUI with trigger shot if the follicles look good. We've been trying to get pregnant for 2 years and I am pretty frustrated. We went from my gyno to a big fertilty clinic here in Austin. That wasn't working and they were pushing for injections (we cannot afford) so we opted for a second opinion.

I am 27 years old. My husband and I have ben TTC for about 3 years now. We fall in the "fun" category of unexplained fertility. Ugh! I am currently 5 days post iui. I took femara on CD 3-7 to increase our chances and produce more eggs. I'm in the dreaded 2ww. I was hoping to hear any success stories of any couples in the same situation. I need some encouragement!

I also took 2.5 mg of Femara for four days followed by HCG trigger. Did you do IUI or IVF? I had IUI and spotted slightly same day of procedure. Then spotted slightly again one week after IUI. I will not know outcome until another 4 days at least w/ HPT and w/ bloodwork at DR's for at least 6 days. I will keep you posted.

side does not function due to severe endometriosis and an endometrioma destroyed it - had it removed by surgery, and we have lots of other issues too) we got preg using femara, follistim and IUI.. unfortuantely miscarred later , but trying again with the injectables and femara and IUI.. so hopefully it will work again!
