Femara 5 mg for days 2 - 6 shortens my cycle by about 1 week (ovulate about day 14 instead of around day 20-21). My previous femara cycle resulted in my second daughter (with IUI). Am in middle of a new cycle now and did the IUI 2 days ago. So TWW for now.

A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!

First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?

Im on my 3rd round of femara, I had Ovarian Drilling back in Oct and they put me on the femara right away and have Ov since but no BFP as of yet. It works way better then the clomid I was on it 6 cycles and nothing not one O. Femara has no side effects and helps your linning and makes great eggs. best of luck and tons of Baby dust.

A few studies have suggested that Femara may be effective in cases in which women have not ovulated while taking Clomid (these women are said to be "Clomid-resistant" or "clomiphene-resistant"). There is some thought that Femara may be less likely to cause negative effects on cervical mucus and the thickness of the uterine lining, compared to Clomid.

I tried clomid for 8 months and got one BFP but ended in early m/c. So now this cycle (when af shows) I am trying the Femara - less side effects than clomid (I have endo and PCOS). I just read some research on it that my RE gave me and it said it is found not have any side effects on the endometrial lining or CM. So, def. looking forward to that! Good luck and keep us posted!!

"2.5 Use in Hepatic Impairment No dosage adjustment is recommended for patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment, although Femara blood concentrations were modestly increased in subjects with moderate hepatic impairment due to cirrhosis. The dose of Femara in patients with cirrhosis and severe hepatic dysfunction should be reduced by 50% [see Warnings and Precautions (5.3)].

my obgyn here in Canada told me that Femara is just another brand name for Clomiphene which is often called Clomid as well... good luck!

It is very hard to ascertain if Femara can directly cause fibromyalgia, since this condition or side effect is not routinely reported or classified in the clinical trials that used Femara. What Femara does, however, is that it can have a side effect in bone metabolism causing decreased bone mineralization that can cause bone pains and sometimes may lead to increased incidence of fractures. Hi babydust, I got pregnant on my first cycle of Femara a little over a month ago, which was my first cycle after a m/c in November. I've heard that women can be more fertile after a m/c, so whether it was due to the m/c or the Femara I really don't know. But I've read a lot of promising stuff about Femara, so good luck to you!

Side effects seen more often with tamoxifen versus Femara were hot flashes and vaginal bleeding. The benefits of FEMARA in clinical trials are based on 24 months of treatment. Hi everyone, I just started my period last night and will be trying Femara for the first time this month. I've tried clomid once, but since I had no cervical mucus to speak of while on it, my new RE wanted to try Femara instead. I'll be going in for a baseline sonogram on Saturday, which is CD4 according to FF and CD3 according to my new RE (they do not consider my first day as day 1, since it started at night), and I will probably start Femara that same day.

We will be moving on to 5mg of Femara Cd 4 - 8 and then menopur CD 9 - 11. Then trigger and IUI. Has anyone had success with this? I usually take Femara on CD 3 - 7 so I don't know why she wants me to take them on CD 4 - 8 this month. I am wondering if I should switch back to Clomid for a month since I was on Femara last month.

It has been like this for around a week, so after speaking with my doctor she said it was nothing to worry about (most likely hormonal) and to go back in a month if it worsens or persists. After consultation and research myself it would point to being gynecomastia(?) however i failed to mention there is a history on my dads side of the family of cancer.

I had to go away for a few months, my father passed away, when I returned I had my mom who agreed to move with us. Wile I was gone the dogs got attention from the guys in the household but there was not as much activity as there is when I play with them. I love on them all equally and I cuddle and pat on them all day off and on. Of course while my husband was at work in the day, this never happened the two months that I was gone.

My gyno just placed me on Femara due to severe side effects of Clomid (been off of that for a few months to give my body a break). I'm only 25 and in premenopausal state. I start Provera on Friday. Then on day 3-7 take Femara. I never been on a normal cycle either. My AF's stopped all together in 2009. I had to take Provera every 2 months to have a cycle. My dh and I have been ttc our second child with fail for the past 2 yrs.

t want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer. Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Just got back from dr, CANNOT prescribe femara(letrozole) as not liscenced in the U.K, thought this would be the case, feel v despondant but the law is the law. Dr suggested taking provera and trying low dose of clomid 50mg for 2 mths, reluctant to do this as clomid gave me a cyst twice before(i was on higher dose 100-150 mg) but may just try again, has anyone here had a cyst from clomid and gone back on it after a missed cycle or two and had any SUCCESS?
