Femara 5 mg for days 2 - 6 shortens my cycle by about 1 week (ovulate about day 14 instead of around day 20-21). My previous femara cycle resulted in my second daughter (with IUI). Am in middle of a new cycle now and did the IUI 2 days ago. So TWW for now.

nothing (no eggs at all) he immediately switched me to femara after first failed attempt with clomid..first month of femara..nothing at all..

Hi! Most good infertility clinics have counselors who actively work with the patients when they get to the point that you are at, and many patients do! So I would highly recommend that you find a good counselor first of all! Other things that have worked for people include taking a break for awhile, or even giving up--and adopting. For some reason it seems that the harder you DON;T try, the better your odds!

A question for you Femara ladies - did you notice any changes in when you ovulated while on Femara? I am starting my first Femara cycle in two days (I am CD1 today, doing Femara CD3-7) and just wondering what to expect. I usually ovulate CD17-19. Does Femara make you O earlier, later, about the same? Thanks for any insight!

First, there are case reports of endometriosis being treated successfully by aromatase inhibitors, which is the class of drug femara is from. Second, femara results in a thicker, better looking endometrium, than clomid. On the other hand, femara is more likely to result in one egg being released, rather than multiple. I don't know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara?

Im on my 3rd round of femara, I had Ovarian Drilling back in Oct and they put me on the femara right away and have Ov since but no BFP as of yet. It works way better then the clomid I was on it 6 cycles and nothing not one O. Femara has no side effects and helps your linning and makes great eggs. best of luck and tons of Baby dust.

I didnt get any response from any healthcare providers on my Tamoxifen/Femara question regarding weight gain and loss. Can anyone answer that question for me.

A few studies have suggested that Femara may be effective in cases in which women have not ovulated while taking Clomid (these women are said to be "Clomid-resistant" or "clomiphene-resistant"). There is some thought that Femara may be less likely to cause negative effects on cervical mucus and the thickness of the uterine lining, compared to Clomid.

Thank you I ov early this cycle thanks to femara I O on cycle day 11 is that normal with femara? I am hoping since I had mu ovarian drilling done in OCt of this year that the femara will help to O better.

And thru my searching in the internet I found a website about FERTILAID. Do you recommend this? Is this good or worth triying?

I tried clomid for 8 months and got one BFP but ended in early m/c. So now this cycle (when af shows) I am trying the Femara - less side effects than clomid (I have endo and PCOS). I just read some research on it that my RE gave me and it said it is found not have any side effects on the endometrial lining or CM. So, def. looking forward to that! Good luck and keep us posted!!

Also, I have broken out horribly in the last few days - could that be due to Femara, too?

"2.5 Use in Hepatic Impairment No dosage adjustment is recommended for patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment, although Femara blood concentrations were modestly increased in subjects with moderate hepatic impairment due to cirrhosis. The dose of Femara in patients with cirrhosis and severe hepatic dysfunction should be reduced by 50% [see Warnings and Precautions (5.3)].

my obgyn here in Canada told me that Femara is just another brand name for Clomiphene which is often called Clomid as well... good luck!

It is very hard to ascertain if Femara can directly cause fibromyalgia, since this condition or side effect is not routinely reported or classified in the clinical trials that used Femara. What Femara does, however, is that it can have a side effect in bone metabolism causing decreased bone mineralization that can cause bone pains and sometimes may lead to increased incidence of fractures. Hi babydust, I got pregnant on my first cycle of Femara a little over a month ago, which was my first cycle after a m/c in November. I've heard that women can be more fertile after a m/c, so whether it was due to the m/c or the Femara I really don't know. But I've read a lot of promising stuff about Femara, so good luck to you!

Side effects seen more often with tamoxifen versus Femara were hot flashes and vaginal bleeding. The benefits of FEMARA in clinical trials are based on 24 months of treatment. Hi everyone, I just started my period last night and will be trying Femara for the first time this month. I've tried clomid once, but since I had no cervical mucus to speak of while on it, my new RE wanted to try Femara instead. I'll be going in for a baseline sonogram on Saturday, which is CD4 according to FF and CD3 according to my new RE (they do not consider my first day as day 1, since it started at night), and I will probably start Femara that same day.

We will be moving on to 5mg of Femara Cd 4 - 8 and then menopur CD 9 - 11. Then trigger and IUI. Has anyone had success with this? I usually take Femara on CD 3 - 7 so I don't know why she wants me to take them on CD 4 - 8 this month. I am wondering if I should switch back to Clomid for a month since I was on Femara last month.

If I choose this route, then on CD2 I would get bloodwork done and start the Femara. Then on CD12 I would go in for an u/s to look at my follies. I would get a trigger shot and we would be doing timed BD. This option is a lot more time consuming and expensive as I would have to pay for all the follow up visits after the initial bloodwork. But doesn't give me any greater odds then using the Clomid.

My gyno just placed me on Femara due to severe side effects of Clomid (been off of that for a few months to give my body a break). I'm only 25 and in premenopausal state. I start Provera on Friday. Then on day 3-7 take Femara. I never been on a normal cycle either. My AF's stopped all together in 2009. I had to take Provera every 2 months to have a cycle. My dh and I have been ttc our second child with fail for the past 2 yrs.

t want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer. Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.

Just got back from dr, CANNOT prescribe femara(letrozole) as not liscenced in the U.K, thought this would be the case, feel v despondant but the law is the law. Dr suggested taking provera and trying low dose of clomid 50mg for 2 mths, reluctant to do this as clomid gave me a cyst twice before(i was on higher dose 100-150 mg) but may just try again, has anyone here had a cyst from clomid and gone back on it after a missed cycle or two and had any SUCCESS?

t any osteoporous Femara causes swelling and bone pain I switch to Arimidex after being off Femara for 2 weeks and am not having the pain. Please look in to Femara side effects and possible changeing to another drug. I even was in physical therapy for two months because I thought it was me but no it was the drug..
