I took Femara this cycle and will be doing a single IUI probably within the next 4-5 days. I had a sort of of odd cycle last month (w/Femara but no IUI), where I spotted for 3-4 days before any real flow. I ovulated on cd15 and had a 30 day cycle if you don't count the spotting (usually its no more than 28 days).
My RE says to start using OPKs on cd 11, but I'm concerned I should start earlier. Could I have miscounted and in fact the day I think was cd1 was actually a bit later?
Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!
I'll defintely be thinking of you and good luck!!!! From what my RE said is that IUI can increase your chances quite a bit! We were going to just timed intercourse but he said if my dh's SA came back even mildly abnormal that he wanted to do IUI this first cycle..

I just finished a round of femara-getting ready for an IUI next week. I've had 3 failed IUI's. The first was an unmedicated cycle, the second was with clomid and i only had 2 follicles. My uterine lining was VERY thin (clomid naturally thins the lining) so my RE switched me to femara for my third IUI. I had 6 follies! But none took so I will do my 4th IUI next week. I love the femara-I have had no side effects. On clomid I had headaches and hot flashes. Good luck to you!!!!
It all depends I took femara one cycle with injectable (ovidrel) & an iui & worked on the first try. I'm 5 weeks & 3 days today. Clomid works but not for everyone clomid often thickens the cervical mucus which makes it hard for the sperm to swim to contect to the egg. I was taking tussin as well my last cycle of clomid but it didn't work. I had 6 cycles of clomid three solo & three with iui's. I wish you the best of luck.
My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. I'm just wondering what to expect? I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts). I had little to no side effects.
Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?
okay... this is my second IUI, this time using Bravelle and Femara. My first iui I tried without meds and it did not work. It's nice to see that there are places like this to be able to talk to others that are trying the very same thing as me! =) I had my iui earlier today, so I'm officially in my 2ww..... ahhhh its already driving me crazy!
Was your uterine lining thin before the Clomid. I hope this IUI works for you. I am in the dreaded TWW too.
I did the exact same thing-femara/HCG Shot/IUI. The only difference was I received the shot only 24 hours before my IUI-not 2 days. Anyway, the first time I did get pregnant, but it ended up being a chemical. The 2nd & 3rd times were not successful, but the 4th one was. I now have a beautiful 3 month old son, who is the result of femara/HCG/4th IUI. Good luck!!
I got pregnant my 2nd month taking Femara, unfortunatley that pregnancy was a blighted ovim. I started the Femara up again and just finished my 3rd month. I take 2.5 mg on days 3-7. Good luck! It really does work!
Today is CD 1 and I will start taking Femara CD 5 - 9. We are planning an IUI with trigger shot if the follicles look good.
We've been trying to get pregnant for 2 years and I am pretty frustrated. We went from my gyno to a big fertilty clinic here in Austin. That wasn't working and they were pushing for injections (we cannot afford) so we opted for a second opinion.
