Femara without iui

Common Questions and Answers about Femara without iui

femara

Avatar f tn My RE gave me an Rx for the highest dosage of Femara in preperation for an IUI. We can no longer afford the IUI, but I would still like to take the Femara and try the "old fashinioned" way. I'm just wondering what to expect? I have done several rounds of Clomid and two rounds of 5mg of Femara (with one cycle ending in cysts). I had little to no side effects. Is it safe to take this highest dosage without going in for the pre-O u/s to check the follies?
Avatar n tn okay... this is my second IUI, this time using Bravelle and Femara. My first iui I tried without meds and it did not work. It's nice to see that there are places like this to be able to talk to others that are trying the very same thing as me! =) I had my iui earlier today, so I'm officially in my 2ww..... ahhhh its already driving me crazy!
337111 tn?1266946623 Hey lady. I hope my story is hopeful and gives you something to look forward to! We have a 5 year old daughter who we conceived the first month without birth control and have been trying for #2 for three years this month.
Avatar f tn Hi there-I was on clomid 2 months with IUI and trigger-only had 2 follicles both times. I was on Femara this month, trigger and IUI and I had 6 follicles. I also took it on 4-8. So, for me, femara worked much better. I didn't do Menopur. I am in my 2ww and will find out on Tuesday. I wish you all the best!
Avatar f tn I took Femara last cycle, but alas AF came. What was odd was that I had several days of very light spotting before actual flow, usually when I see spotting AF comes the next day. If I count my first day of real flow as day 1, my cycle ran 30 days this time (its usually never more than 28 days). Has anyone else seen these kind of changes after a Femara cycle? I also noticed a slight twinge on my right side for those few days. I'm starting Femara again this cycle, this time with IUI.
Avatar f tn Hello! well i just took my first femara pill today (its my first medicated cycle- will be doing trigger, iui and progesterone this cycle) Its similar to clomid in the sense that it stimulates ovulation, and from what i hear also can help increase progesterone in the LP and lengthen it simliar to clomid...
795248 tn?1250686616 This will be my 2nd iui and this will be my third cycle on femara. I cycle on femara with iui, one cycle just femara and this cycle on femara with hopefully iui around the 30th, 1st or 2nd(weekend). We have been ttc for over 2yrs and have unexplained infertility. All of our blood work and tests and u/s are perfect. Our sperm is perfect and eggs and uterus look great. I was just looking for others that are going thru the same thing so we could support each other!!
Avatar f tn Hi- I just finished a round of femara-getting ready for an IUI next week. I've had 3 failed IUI's. The first was an unmedicated cycle, the second was with clomid and i only had 2 follicles. My uterine lining was VERY thin (clomid naturally thins the lining) so my RE switched me to femara for my third IUI. I had 6 follies! But none took so I will do my 4th IUI next week. I love the femara-I have had no side effects. On clomid I had headaches and hot flashes. Good luck to you!!!!
Avatar f tn m looking for feedback from anybody that was having ultrasound and bloodwork monitoring while only taking femara for fertility. The ultrasound monitoring is new for me as my previous fertility doctor only did bloodwork monitoring. So I'm looking for feedback on number of follicles and size on.
629668 tn?1222914854 Last month I did Femara CD3-CD7, a HCG trigger shot on CD12 and IUI on CD14. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. I go in for my 2nd IUI this weekend. Femara has helped thicken my lining, but I noticed that I am a little more emotional than usual. It probably doesn't help that I'm all stressed out about what's going on.
691236 tn?1311199974 I ovulate on Clomid - but did not on Femara. I will start Femara again, maybe a higher dose this time with trigger and IUI! Hoping it works this time - but that is pretty much all my RE is prescribing now, he loves it!
Avatar n tn It all depends I took femara one cycle with injectable (ovidrel) & an iui & worked on the first try. I'm 5 weeks & 3 days today. Clomid works but not for everyone clomid often thickens the cervical mucus which makes it hard for the sperm to swim to contect to the egg. I was taking tussin as well my last cycle of clomid but it didn't work. I had 6 cycles of clomid three solo & three with iui's. I wish you the best of luck.
328927 tn?1227761840 I have mild PCOS and responded to Clomid with 1 follicle for two cycles (one bd, another iui). I skipped a month w/meds and O'd on my own. I just started Femara cd3-7 and Follistim 75 cd5-9, and haven't been able to find out any real live stories of BFP with this protocol, how many tries it took and number and size of follies normally seen. I was also wondering how many follicles is to few, and how many are too many where the RE could cancel a cycle in fear of OHSS?
415687 tn?1228746275 I got pregnant on my second cycle of femara + trigger + IUI. Femara is similar to clomid and much much cheaper than injectibles. Just another option you might want to look into. Good luck!!
1448645 tn?1370067496 My question is. Is there any one who has taken just femara with out IUI and fallen pregnant? Just tradtional BD? I am considering doing this as i have one course of femara left but dont want to do the iui its too much pressure. Please let me know if you have had any succuess and what you did. my cycle is a 31 day..
725941 tn?1297882209 i think there are several of us on here that have gotten preg with femara.. i took two cycles of femara without any luck (but we were told due to our issues including male factor we would need IVF.. so this wasn't a shock) but then the 3rd IUI did femara + injectables and it did work.. i have endometriosis and they really like femara for endo patients as well.. it doesn't thin the lining like clomid.. did your doctor do an ultrasound to check how many follies you had?
144100 tn?1283522567 t know of any info regarding clomid making endometriosis coming back more quickly. Why have you been prescribed femara? Are your periods irregular without a medicine that helps you to ovulate? Does your MD think it may help keep the endometriosis at bay?
557306 tn?1239989954 you could always try an IVF right off the bat while you have the maximum benefits from the supression from the femara.. without surgery first.. my RE was going to do IVF without surgery for me since it takes out a lot of the endo problems- the fimbrae on the fallopian tube if its stiff from the endo and not picking up the ovulating eggs it takes away that problem also the hostile environment of the endo for the ovulating egg..
413852 tn?1317308712 we also have used femara, for quite a few cycles now! we have had two pregnancies (with femara +follistim and IUI) but miscarried unfortunately : ( it does have great results though, its great for endometriosis patients too, since it does overproduce estrogen like some medications..
Avatar f tn Cool. Good luck i'm on day 3 of femara. How about you? Are u having iui this month? Keep me up dated think we almost the same cycle.
1434731 tn?1382722384 I too have pcos and am seeing a fertility speacalist and femara and clom8d are very cheap and most ofthe time work to make ovulation occur
708150 tn?1268273933 It happend to be day one of AF. My doctor wants to do IUI this cycle with femara. I go back on Jan 12 for U/S. My question is would you get your trigger shot on the day of the u/s if there are good follies or is it common to have multiple U/S's if the follies aren't ready? And then when do you go back for the procedure? I have read a lot of people go back within 36 hours. We live over an hour from the RE. Has anyone been in this situation?
