Common Questions and Answers about Fainting and unconscious

fainting

Avatar m tn She was also lying unconscious for 20-30 minutes. Normally we heard anyone falling unconscious will regain their consciousness in 30 seconds to couple of minutes. However, when we hear she was unconscious for 20-30 minutes is making us worry. Is it normal to have someone falling unconscious for 20-30 minutes?
Avatar f tn I was later told that I was found between the tub and the toilet(no where I sat),with my eyes open and unconscious. I remember flashes of events and I remember telling that I am fine but I was not able to be fully conscious. It lasted for about 15-20 minutes. I was told that sprinkling water and slapping my face made no effect on me.What could be the reason.I am 28 year old female and had experienced nothing like this before. Can a low pressure cause this?
Avatar n tn Hi and sorry your friend is fainting. This could be due to a variety of things. I would have her go to the doctor. It could be due to high or low blood sugar or blood pressure. It could be related to epilepsy. Those are some common things. I would have her go in to see the doctor right away.
Avatar f tn I actually dreamed this time while I was unconscious), and when I woke up a numb feeling was creeping over my legs and arms. It also went over half my face, then stopped. My hands were clenched together really tightly. I was afraid I would break my fingers at the time. I could feel pressure from them, but couldn't move them at all for at least five minutes. Gradually, the numbness went away and I could move my fingers. I've had MRIs, heart tests, blood tests, nerve tests...
Avatar m tn I play a lot of sports and I eat healthily. Over the years my fainting spells got lesser and lesser. 2 Months ago, I fainted again. I went for a specialist check up and had a bunch of tests taken. ECG test came negative, Tilt Table came negative. My heart rate is healthy, BP is normal. I am curently waiting for further diagnoises and consultation with the specialist.
407149 tn?1211732507 it was hot and I walked to her window, and suddenly, I fell down into the chair just behind me, and I don't remember what happened, although I do remember being vaguely aware of something happening. When I opened my eyes, I was in the chair, and my sister was standing there, looking at me with a surprised and shocked expression. She explained to me what she just saw (me shaking violently) and I told her I didn't remember what happened.
Avatar f tn Let your doctor know. Definitely alarming and a sign of something serious.
Avatar n tn By passing out, I mean that she actually seizes, stiff limbs and body and back arched, and then after it ends is usually nauseated, takes awhile to be able to stand, and is worn out the rest of the day. (We had full tests many times and the seizures are not epileptic/brain related). The past few years the anxiety has really risen (she is on Zoloft and doubled it a few months ago) and just now started Beta Blocker.
2059146 tn?1404732036 Its usually recommend to see a doctor and get checked out if you have a fall and hit your head, especially if your were unconscious at all during the fall or right after the fall. (fainting counts as unconscious) Hopefully the twitching is unrelated, but better safe than sorry. Twitching can be from a lack of sleep and high stress. but to be honest the fact that you head hurts and in throbbing is more concerning to me.
Avatar f tn Since from 2004 I am having a type of unconscious attacks only for 10to15 seconds maximum 3or4 times in a year when I am playing or working anytime and after this attack I can't make taste of anything when I am eating to..Since from last 5years I am getting different types of attacks the first was when I was sleeping in my car I got up in between and I broke my car stereo system.the next when was dangerous when I was driving my car I met with an accident and I survived thank God.
Avatar f tn She has reported in the last 3 years or so that she has been dizzy and nauseated. She often becomes nauseated and gags but usually does not throw up. We found her face-down on the computer keyboard this weekend. She had fainted from a sitting position. I assume she fainted. She was unconscious. When I pulled her from the chair, her eyes opened but she was unresponsive and her eyes did not focus on or follow anyone but they were not rolled up into her head.

Avatar n tn Preteen, on the other hand, has been fainting for over a year and developed other nuerological, physiological and psychological symtoms. All because of Lamictal and Abilify. Recommend that you do a search for Abilify side affects. She should be weaned off that dangerous drug.
Avatar f tn My grandpa has diabetes. This evening he was watching t.v. and suddenly he was fainting, my parents thought it was because og low sugar levels so they gave him some orange juice. And then he couldn't walk, and started to make some sounds. What happened to him?
690060 tn?1247841741 I just recently read the case study of a man who was defibrillated within 2 min of a 911 call (his heart had stopped due to MI) and, despite being unconscious upon EMT arrival, left the hospital under his own power 5 days later with a strong outlook for many more good years of life (despite a couple days in coma etc).
Avatar f tn She began breathing again but still not responding, I put her in the shower and turned on the cold water. She came in and out of consciousness for several minutes so I carried her back to bed. She was able to answer where she was, the day of the week and her name. She is now stable and resting next to me. Could you please help on what is possibly wrong with her so I know if it's serious enough to drag her to the hospital because she does not want to go.
Avatar m tn Everything went fine with the operation, she was moving around 6 hours after and home 2 days later to recover, we managed to go 6 weeks and one day she started getting ill again and the fainting began, we got in touch with walton and they advised it could just be her body adjusting etc but it started out small and few and ended up with my gf spending most of her day unconscious, so back we went.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you kindly for your help. I have since had a CT scan in the emergency department after having another episode of fainting, seizing and memory loss. The scan was clear. I'm wondering if it is possible there might be something that a CT scan would miss. Would it be beneficial for me to have an MRI? My doctor thinks this is unecessary. I am also on the waiting list to have an EEG. Which tests are most helpful do you think? Thank you.
Avatar m tn My father aged 75 suddenly went unconscious 2 years back, had fall with head injury. He was admitted to hospital - cerebral conscious - MRI says narrowing of blood vessels to brain. Ever since fall has loss of balance, loss of coordination, difficulty in sitting, standing, walking, dullness. Thrice he felt near fainting with sweating. His blood sugar fluctuates. Also his BP has difference between sitting and standing, whenever he changes position feels giddiness.
Avatar f tn a month later (Christmas time) my dad was in the garage. He again blacked out and fell down and cut his chin and eyebrow. After this time he started going to the doctor to get tests done. He did a list of tests including a tilt test but nothing was figured out. The only conclusion the doctor's came to was that he has Sleep Apnea. My dad is on machines now but it is still not stopping all of his fatigue or irregular heart palputations.
Avatar f tn Your answers can help give a better idea of what was happening so I can give you a more personalized explanation of the different causes of fainting and what kind of medical care you might want to seek out initially (sometimes it takes consultations with more than one doctor to get fainting diagnosed, but we may be able to point you in the direction of the doctor or specialist most likely to be the right fit for your faint to save you some time).

Avatar f tn I fainted and hit my head on the floor last night, i wake up this morning and my nose leaks a bright/clear yellow water like liquid. im a little tired but that may have been because i didn't have a very good nights sleep, i have a minor throbbing headache near the back right of my head. no more liquid since, i read somewhere CSF dries like water as snot dries shiney, this liquid has dried like water and is not shiney. IF this isnt CSF what is it???????
Avatar n tn I'm due April 24! I've had a rough pregnancy, morning sickness (still!) Dizziness and fainting (unconscious) and the worst fatigue ever! I'm still keeping positive that my pregnancy will turn around!
255722 tn?1452546541 I am noticing that many of us seem to have more than one "symptom." I started passing out when I was about 14. At first there were very "good" reasons for passing out. The first time I had been on the beach all day and had a pretty *bright* sunburn. We went out to dinner as a family in a very air conditioned building and I went out like a lamp. Scared EVERYONE, but by the time the ER docs got a hold of me I was A-OK.
Avatar n tn I did accept my third drink from a guy who left and gave it me on his way out but my fainting and vomiting dont seem to be normal symptoms of drink spiking. Also I passed out only 10 minutes or so after drinking only half of that drink. Should I be worried or see my doctor at this stage or do people just faint sometimes?????
Avatar n tn I was sitting down when this all started and I fell to the ground. My co-workers told me I was unconscious for between 20-30 seconds and that when they took my pulse it was fast/racing. When I woke up I was feeling back to normal and it was as if nothing had happened. By the time I arrived in the ER I was in sinus rhythm with a HR of 125. A siezure has been ruled out. 6 months ago I had an ablation done for RVOT VT and AV nodal re-entry Tachycardia, both were thought to be successful.
