Avatar m tn Hi everyone, my Father has been smoking a LOT of Cigarettes since the age of 12, and hasn't stopped inbetween once, and i'm seriously worried about his health now, he's constantly coughing really aggressively, and i'm worried eventually the worst is going to happen - Cancer. I keep telling him to stop, but I know he won't. He is 45 by the way. What can I do to make him stop? And if he carries on smoking like this, will he eventually get cancer?
Avatar f tn ve been smoking since I was 12 weed and cigarettes im able to put down the weed cigarettes on the other hand is a issue.
Avatar f tn Is about 15 weeks and has been smoking the entire time i believe. She went to the emergency room for some reason and the doctor advised her not to stop smoking because the baby is addicted and might stress out if she stops. Not 100% if its true but I believe it makes sense in a way. He probably asked her to do something else too.
7366593 tn?1400009626 So I used to smoke weed heavily before i became pregnant but now that Ive been pregnant ive smoked occasionally. I started smoking cigarettes a month before I found out I was pregnant. I dont smoke either everyday. They are both occasionally but I smoke cigarettes more than I do weed. I eat healthy sometimes, I wat junkfood and drink soda sometimes as well. I just want to know the effect all this has on my baby...
736475 tn?1281259327 I quit drinking, smoking pot and smoking cigarettes all at the same time, cold turkey. I did the patch for the first week or so and then whenever I felt like I needed one for about a month after that. I OD'ed (combination of pills) and ended up in a hospital for 5 days so I figured once I came home I was better off just continuing on with the momentum I had going. It was more of a psychological thing for me.
Avatar f tn we are completely healthy and the best advice I have is stay away from smokers as much as possible, keep a tally of every day you go without a cigarette (or get a handy app that keeps track for you) and every time you want one, look up the benefits of quitting smoking, and the detrinent smoking cigarettes while pregnant is! (: good luck ma'am!
Avatar f tn Ill not smoke after this baby is born. It smells! I already feel sorry for all the hugs and snuggles my kids gave me after I had smoke. To think they had to smell that on me for a few years. Yuk.
1435342 tn?1283614910 YOU google whyquit.com and read that website and get yourself educated about the facts of smoking and maybe you could get your b.f. to read along with you at some point? Good luck!
Avatar f tn Just because your kids are ok doesn't mean everyone who smokes kids will be obviously because my oldest is not and my youngest is fine . We need to give support and facts but can't say oh your baby will be fine cuz mine were fine!
Avatar n tn hi there! I sympathise so much. I have been smoking for about 100 years. However, 2 0f my g/children have ashma and the other sweetheart has recently been diagnosed with Lupus. So, I have to do it for them. I know I should be doing it for me but I enjoy a smoke, about 10 a day. I have just bought an ecig. My plan was to substitute each in-between one with this ecig. I am housebound so my husband went to get it and bought the strongest nicotine refills. OMG!
Avatar f tn t know how anybody could physically light up a cigarette when pregnant knowing all the facts that we know about smoking. All the studys that have proven how bad it is. I couldn't live with myself!!!
Avatar f tn I am so not judging you for smoking but PLEASE know this is REALLY bad for your baby. It can cause all sorts of problems. I pulled this info off the CDC website for you.
Avatar f tn Im 31 weeks , & I still smoke here & there ( not a everyday thing ) but I want to quite smoking period for these last couple of days .. but I can't ! I wanted to know if anyone did anything to quite faster & easier ?
Avatar f tn I work for a vapor store. As in e-cigs. I also used to smoke before I found vaping. Confirmed by my doctor that it's completely safe. Consumable products in the ejuice. And a great alternative to smoking cigarettes. It's an idea for you to try or think about. And they are relatively inexpensive depending on location. Here in MO. A quality setup is averaging 29.99 with juice. Stay away from gad station brands like Vx OR Foos.
Avatar f tn From what i got they're not too sure on the effects that smoking weed have on the fetus during pregnancy because not too many women are willing to disclose that they've smoked weed during their pregnancies. But different studies concluded different things. My brothers babys mother smoked weed during both of her pregnancies and both my niece and nephew have slight speech problem his other babys mother didn't smoke during her pregnancies and both of her kids are developing just fine.
Avatar f tn I have been told many things about smoking during pregnancy. I am currently nine weeks pregnant and I'm having a problem with just quitting smoking. I've been told that since I've smoked for almost ten years that if I just up and quit I run a high risk of loosing my baby. I've been told to cut back and I've got to where I only smoke about 5 to 8 a day and before I got pregnant I smoked a pack a day.
Avatar f tn I understand that smoking is extremely addictive, but there are certain things we do for our kid that are very hard, and one of them is being pregnant, taking care of our bodies while pregnant and nursing (and I am not even talking about giving birth!). That is only the start of a difficult life of a parent. So, let me give you the facts that you probably already know, but they are important to repeat.
Avatar f tn I really really hate smoking, but I think that comment was incredibly rude. Just the fact you are posting this shows you are trying to look for ways to quit. I would suggest cutting down a few a day until you get to the point where you are almost at nothing. Also, I agree with momma_wolf. You need to find things to distract yourself with when the cravings get bad. Also, talking to your doctor might help because they might have better suggestions that won't give the baby withdraws either.
Avatar f tn I used to smoke, then I switched to E-cigs about a year ago. I found out I was pregnant a week ago and just handed my ecig to my bf told him to do with it what he saw fit. He either hid it or threw it away. Either way I'm glad he did. I've been a total ***** since then but I'll get over it. Being pregnant is an excellent excuse to finally quit smoking for good. You'll be glad you did. Trust me.
Avatar f tn I read a report that more and more doctors are prescribing marijuana to pregnant women instead of pills for things like headaches and morning sickness and pain because its natural and ALOT healthier than pills. That being said....medicinal and street marijuana are completely different. Medicinal is carefully regulated and manufactured, street is likely sprayed with synthetic THC, grown with pesticides or laced with just about anything. So smoking isn't necessarily bad for you or the baby....
Avatar f tn ve cut down from a pack to 7 or less cigarettes a day. I need to know if there has been any possible problems I need to worry about, or if its okay to smoke during pregnant as long as I'm not over doing it.
Avatar f tn So I quit smoking the day I found out I was pregnant which has been about 8 weeks, I am now almost 14 weeks pregnant. At first it was really easy but as of lately my cravings are bad when I get stressed and I find myself rationalizing cravings in my head by thinking about everyone I know who smokes while pregnant and how healthy their babies are...
Avatar f tn I quit smoking by switching to electronic cigarettes. They only have nicotine in them - no toxins and they emit water vapor when you exhale. They are less expensive than regular cigarettes too. It takes a little time to get used to it, but I can't stand regular cigarettes now.
Avatar f tn ve only smoked a couple of cigarettes and you can reverse the effects if you quit. Good for you for being concerned about it! Be tough and stop smoking now!
Avatar f tn I smoke cigarettes but recently found out I was pregnant. I have seen many smoking those vapor cigs and you can buy them with no nicotine in it. I was wnting your opinions if that would be dangerous or not. Or if you know people that smoke these while pregnant.
882425 tn?1240577566 m still scared of developing lung cancer, as I smoked cigarettes for about 15 years before diagnosis (I quit smoking after that- 1 pack a day was my average- but I've started smoking occassionally the past few years since having children (helps me relax). My fear is that the tar from cigarettes have accumulated on the calcifications and never left because the cilia can't 'clean' the tar off them and that I'm adding more when I smoke occassionally.
1533352 tn?1307054656 Thats so true about the smoking, I totally am weird about how I hold my cigarettes and how I open my pack too! I dont know if thats OCD or what though, but I wouldnt worry about it. The money is harder to say. Since I never really seem to have any money, I dont feel the need to look in an empty purse all the time. Ha. Seriously though, a dozen times a day sounds like alot Rachel. I guess if its on a smart phone its not different than a facebook addiction, but I dont know.
Avatar f tn My quitting smoking app tells me how many cigarettes I would have smoked by now at a normal pace and its 800+ at this point and I can be proud of that.
