Inside the pen, where the insulin is contained I found a silver object. I did not inject myself, but would like to know who I could talk to about product liability and quality control. I still have the container even though the pharmacy company wants it back.
Yesterday at work someone shot me in the eye with a basic lazer red beam pen 650nm 5mW for about 4 seconds before I realized it. Today the eye seems to be a little weaker then the other. When I close the eye that was hit long distance seems to be blurry compared to the eye that was not hit seems to be better. Could this pen possibly have done damage? If so permanently? Or am I just being paranoid and over reacting?
Just saw an advertisement for a new device called the Heartcheck PEN. It's $189 and when you feel palpitations you can immediately record an EKG with it. You can also download software so that for a fee you can forward your EKG to a physician, a monitoring center or both, and have it read and sent back to you. The website is theheartcheck.com. If this is as advertised it would be great for all the things that don't seem to happen while wearing a holter monitor.
I have a NovoLog FlexPen with 100 units which stopped working after about 1/3 of the insulin had been dispensed. It simply stopped releasing the insulin left in the pen. I pay a lot for these pens since my insurance only covers about half the cost. I took it to my pharmacy who said I must get it from Novo Nordisk, Inc. How can I get a replacement?
If someone should have an active cold sore on their lip and touches their runny nose while out on a cold day then uses a pen to write and you use the pen just a minute after them, what's the likelihood of getting HSV-1. Does it lives in nasal mucus and saliva? Just to caveat this person did not wash their hands before using the pen and then the pen was used by another within minutes.
Usually there are very tiny bubbles holding onto the wall of the insulin pen. If they are at top of the pen I do not worry. But some times they are at the bottom and no matter how much i tap the pen, these tiny bubbles wont budge from their place.
Is there way to avoid the formation of these tiny bubbles?
unless in a hollow bore needle. Well a pen is air tight so could some of the blood got on the tip and back into the airtight pen. it had been about a couple days since he stuck himself I think i am ok. But i can not stop thinking about this. I may have ocd? ALSO. I can't seem to find how long blood in an airtight scenario would survive.
I haven't tried the pen yet but I am hoping to soon. I did speak to someone at Bioden Idec about it about a week or two ago.
Hello. I used the follistem pen too. I had 225 a day for about a week. Its very easy to use and the needle is small so it doesn't hurt. I was lucky and could mix the follistem in with another shot to save on the sticks per day :-) 2 is much better than 1!! We used the actual pen the first time and while it didn't hurt it left a huge bruise. The vials come in 300, 600, and 900 I think so it just depends on how much you'll need as to which size they give you.
So my question is, is there any way HIV could be transferred from their hands, to my pen and then to me if I touched the pen right after they touched it and then touched my cut?
I have some HIV anxiety/ OCD and I am tired and scared that I could give my baby HIV over this. Is it possible to get HIV this way?
tomorrow and I am looking for some input on this pen. I have never heard that the pen is innacurate but did read tonight that the Humalog pen must be held to the skin for a count of five---that could be ugly. We can't use the Lilly pen anyway because we need one with half units. I guess we would have to change to Novolog to use their pen. Any pen users with children have input???
