Avatar n tn Hi Dalki, Yes, in time your doctor will likely know for sure which type of diabetes you have. In addition to Type 1 and Type 2, there seems to be a type 1.5 ... tho' there's some thought that 1.5s are just in the early stages of Type 1. We DMers (folks with diabetes mellitis) and our docs often call that a honeymoon phase. I hope you're feeling better now that your bloodsugar has begun to come down. Things may remain volatile for a while, so try to be patient with yourself.
307500 tn?1302116146 Says because I have Clusters of AutoImmune Diseases I most likly have type 1 diabetes. This week He has run lost of test, blood, and heart tests and blood flow. I have been put on every poral pill and it hasn't dropped my BS. MY lst A1C was 7.0, I have been on a very low carb diet for yrs, I think if I weren't my BS would be alot higher all the time. My ? is could I be type 1 because of all the Auto disease and the age of 16 diagnoses?
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with genital herpes type 1 but i'm confused as to what this means. There isn't a very clear idea given on any of the health sites i'm tried and I was too distraught to ask the nurses at the clinic i first went to. How does type one differ from type two? Does this mean i'm more or less likely to pass it on? Will i be having more outbreaks?
Avatar m tn Neuro dr tested me a while back. Even took spinal fluid ( that hurt!) but said my only issue is type 1. But I'm terrified I got type 2 now. I should get IGG results tomorrow. I have had a weekend on pain in groin but no sores. Little red spots but they go away in a day. Everything I'm feeling I felt before. The big difference is my back and muscles in and around my pelvic region have been painful more than before. I hoped wearing a condom would help me and the famvir.
Avatar n tn I know I am insulin dependent because I cannot take my pump off except for the rare few minutes or so without my sugar sky rocketing. Now would u still call this Type 2 Diabetes or Type 1? Hearing the words Juvenile Diabetes associated with Type 1 throws me off obviously because I was not diagnosed as a juvenile. But also the words Insulin Dependent are associated with the Type 1. So I DO fit into that category.
1242273 tn?1269552203 s necessarly have to be type 2 ? How common is it that your type 1 when told your type two? The first year metforim helped my numbers and now I am on metformin 2X500mg twice a day and then added two 5mg twice a day of PMS-glyburide and now two weeks ago added APO-pioglitazone 45mg once a day. I watch what I eat cook from diabetic cook books try to get exercise which can be very painful due to fibromyalgia, but my numbers arent dropping. I'm mostly all the time running in the mid 20's.
Avatar n tn I recently was diagnosed with genital herpes. I don't know if it's type 1 or type 2 yet. I will be getting a blood test in a couple more months to find out. I had unprotected oral sex and protected vaginal sex on the same occassion. Afterwards, I found out the girl gets a cold sore on her lip once or twice a year (but not during our encounter) and claims to never have had any genital herpes symptoms or outbreaks.
Avatar f tn Hi, type 2 is more common in the gential area but certainly type 1 can be tramsmitted there from oral sex. However type 2 is much more sever and painful. Its important to find out which you have and how were you diagnosed?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
Avatar f tn I recently was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, will I ever be able to eat whatever I want again? If so, how long do you think that will be, I miss my chocolate!!
Avatar f tn But now recently after a visit to a new obgyn she is telling me its not fissures it is type 1 herpes bit I have been on medication for almost 2 weeks and I am still itching constantly where as the cream I was given for fissures has helped my bottom I really need help : (
Avatar n tn He said it was 5.1. Which is low for a type 1 diabetic. I was diagnosed with diabetes 6 yrs ago, I am 26 right now. He said all of my blood work was absolutely perfect, cholesterol, liver enzymes, etc. I am currently taking 70/30 twice a day 10 units each time. He suggested that I lower my dosage. My question is that with my Ha1c being so low is that normal for a diabetic? He seems to be in shock. I lost 10 lbs recently too. He said he has never seen bloodwork so perfect for a diabetic.
Avatar n tn My husband and I are thinking about having another baby. I have been a type 1 since age 12 and am now 27. I had my daughter at age 23, and also went on the pump, and was extremely lucky because she was healthy although unplanned. I am working towards tighter control over the next several months to get my A1c down to >7. Right now I have been running a high A1c at about 9, so i have a ways to go.
Avatar n tn Please know that Type 2 is a completely different disease than Type 1. Type 1 is autoimmune, and researchers are striving to find out what triggers (or doesn't) trigger the disease. Type 2 has completely different origins. It seems to me that you have been working very closely with your pediatrician. General recommendations for when to inroduce certain foods are just that ... general recommendations. Your child needed something different due to his unique situation.
Avatar n tn I have a friend whose husband has type-1 diabetes. He is in his early thirties and had a job for 3 years in which he had to drive around town. His blood sugar dropped one day when he was off work and he had an accident and lost his drivers license.
Avatar f tn In my experience (as a 40+ year type 1), endos with an understanding of type 1 adults (those of us with complications, for example) are rare. I have found 2, one who was part of a large endo group and chose to focus on type 1, and my current endo who IS a type 1. The understanding and advice I recieve is unquestionably much better from such a doctor, even compared to those who have had many more years experience. It is worth the effort to search for one.
Avatar n tn Congratulations!!! I too am a type 1 diabetic and my son just turned 1 last month. I had a pretty healthy pregnancy but it was very hard work. As the person above told you call your doc immediately and ask for a Rx for prenatal vitamins. Also, one of the most important nutrients for your baby is folic acid or folate. This is especially important for diabetics!!! The best sources are spinach (I know yuck...
Avatar f tn I have had type 1 for 11 yrs now and I am 22. I just found out I am pregnant.we didn't plan to get pregnant until October.( one year of my a1c being in range).
