Avatar n tn Exelon patch is on back order from the manufacturer until October 24. What alternatives are there?
Avatar n tn My husband has been prescibed the the 9.5 exelon patch but we still have a supply of the 4.6 patches. With them being so expensive can I use two of the 4.6 patches at the same time until we run out?
Avatar n tn She has since tested negative for H Pylori, and has been taken off Razadyne(24 mg ) for memory problems, put on Exelon (6mg patch), then taken off it after two weeks and more nausea. She has been off the Exelon patch for 72 hours, and still experiences nausea when she moves about. Still puzzling and frustrating. doctors are stumped (still) and I am feeling worthless because I cannot help her kick the nausea or find the cause. Really looking for help here. Any will be gratefully accepted.
Avatar f tn t calming her down any, and she did not refil the prescription. 2 months later she had another bad dream and the doctor was notified. He then prescribed exelon. My question: If she does not have Alzheimer's disease, why would he prescribe either of these medicines for her? If this is dimentia, aren't there other drugs out there for that or even drugs that have a claming effect? From what I have read about excelon, I am not sure if it is compatible with her heart medication.

She has been off the Exelon patch for 72 hours, and still experiences nausea when she moves about. Recently, she started back on the lower dose of Razadyne. Her neurologist doesn't think the medicine is the cause of the nausea, though it could be aggrivating whatever is causing it.

Avatar m tn can i combine 225mg. of effexor xr with exelon or dexamphetamine to help my sedated or lethargic condition?
2198240 tn?1338546163 If changing the patch more frequency and an increase in patch strength is inefficient, typically the next step is to increase the strength of your instant release medication.
Avatar n tn It would be helpful if the Exelon Patch advertisers didn't feel it was necessary to have their information on continual scroll. There is a reason why I don't read rolling credits at the end of a movie, too. They usually roll too fast to read and simply hurt my head and can trigger migraines. Most of the time I don't see rolling adds, but when I do, I'm put off. Uh...I did not search for anything that would have had anything to do with this particular advertiser.
Avatar m tn I have been on the fentanyl patches since 2003 and am up to the 100 mg/h patch for the past year. I still have breakthrough pain and take percocets 10/325 twice a day. My physician refered me to a pain management Dr. because he said as a GP he couldn't prescribe anything stronger and on my 1st appt. with the pain mgt dr. he said he wants me to enter detox right away as he believes the medication is actualy causing the pain to be worse. I am stunned.
Avatar m tn You could go for a lower strength patch (lower by one third the strength if possible). You should not cut the patch to lower its strength, but buy the next lower strength patch. Please discuss with your doctor and taper off under medical supervision. Also start physiotherapy, swimming etc to help reduce the pain by strengthening the back muscle. Ask your doctor whether wearing a lumbar corset at work will help reduce the pain. Take care!
Avatar f tn I feel at such a loss in trying to help my Mother. I've gone back to Neurologist and am awaiting his advise, but he doesn't appear to be emphathetic to this issue. Her GP defers to the neurologist. My 81 yr old Mother in middle to late stage Alzheimer's. She is not on any anti-anxiety med except for Paxil which was prescribed about a month ago. She gets aggitated during the day at times and especially sundowners time.
Avatar n tn There is the amino acid protocol and the Thomas recipe, both will help you a lot. How long were you on the patch? I mean if you were only on the patch for a couple of months, then I do not see anything wrong with the way your doctor told you to come off the patch. Did you take something prior to that? What lead you to taking the patch? Good Luck and God Bless I am here for you if you have any other questions and there are a lot of people on this site that you be here for you also.
675923 tn?1296238011 I lowered the strength of my patch yesterday and everything was bothering me. EVERYTHING. I had cravings but my desire to staying a non smoker was bigger. I was being beaten down though. It is day 21 today - Yeah. If this demon fights me again today I'm not sure what I will do. I don't want to smoke and I don't want to eat dead carnage either. I'm afraid to move for fear I will have the beast convince me of something else through association.
Avatar f tn Is there a chart that I can use to convert fentanyl patch strength to the Opana Er strength?
Avatar f tn 00 I put on my first 5mcg Butran patch and I am curious if taking it off after 48 hours will put me into withdrawal.
Avatar n tn Never had a problem until now. He started with temp memory loss and the doctor put him on 2 Exelon Patches per day to help him with the memory loss and also he now on Oxcarbazepine 300 mg. My question is with him taking these two type of medications he is still having seizure and cant sleep. Me as a mother do know what to think and do to help him. Can someone help me with this.
Avatar f tn If the latter is true, an immediate release breakthrough pain medication might be the next step versus an increase is patch strength. However, if you are getting breakthrough pain 3-4 times a day, an increase in patch strength might be warranted. Another issue can be the way the patch is dosed. Many (including myself), require that the patch is changed every 48 hours instead of every 72 hours.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I find it strange that you reject both the 12 and 25 patches. perhaps you prefer pills. I've been on both of those strength patches in the past and there isn't much difference between them side effects wise(nor strength wise). I find it highly unlikely that the 12 is useless and the 25 is too much. besides, we can't expect everything to be perfect. It just isn't realistic. I don't think you are over your addiction.
Avatar m tn Well, as one could imagine over the years my doses have turned from viodic, to oxycodone to fentanyl patches and oxycodone. Now I have beeen taking 15 patches of 100 mcg of the patch and 300 5mg tabs of oxycodone because of supposed arthritis in my back.. Now I am wanting off of these meds for good, My back pain still feels very real as I am now day 6 into my last patch and ocycodone pill. I went to the ER two nights ago because I feet so bad coming off of those drugs. What can I do.
Avatar n tn I called the Dr. and she told me to take dramamine. I remembered I had one patch left so I applied the patch again. Within 3 hours I was feeling better and that next day began to feel better. I wore the patch for 3 days and then removed the patch again. Within 24 hours became violently ill again. At this time I didn't give much thought to the patch and medication content. So I called the Dr. for more patches. I then reapplied the patch and again began feeling better in a few hours.
Avatar n tn No need to apologize, Sean. You are absolutely right and these matters should not be taken lightly. This is why I urged my hunny to visit the doctor! The dosage my fiance normally take of "friends and family" narcotics do not come anywhere near the strength of the fentanyl patch. It's because of this that the debate still stands.
Avatar n tn I dont' know if you're still on the patch or not, but just to let you know, there are certain brands of the patch (I'm presuming you're talking about the fentanyl patch) that you CANNOT cover the entire patch because doing so does not allow the patch to "breathe" and it could heat up due to body heat and release too much medication into your system, so if you're still using the patch and still covering the entire thing with the tape, I would definitely suggest at th
Avatar f tn They also make a 12.5 mg patch........standard school of thought is to drop your dose by 10-20% every 7-10 days..... You dont want to cut the patches - there is a risk of overdose when you cut a time release medication and it is all absorbed at once......Using the various strength patches you should be able to arrive at a taper... Or your Doc may want to put you on a different med to taper down...
1602878 tn?1304336016 About two weeks ago I suddenly got a spinal fluid leak again. The only thing I have done different is trying to increase core strength, work my new knee by biking about twenty minutes and had worked up to 125 crunches adding in some leg o ets and leg raises. I think it was the crunches. These spontaneous leaks are becoming way to common! The last one was finally sealed with a successful Blood patch in mid November. My pain doctor scheduled me for a patch this coming Wednesday- March 26th.
