Avatar n tn The Novartis patch, called Exelon, was previously approved for patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and it remains the only federally approved patch for the disease.
Avatar n tn My husband has been prescibed the the 9.5 exelon patch but we still have a supply of the 4.6 patches. With them being so expensive can I use two of the 4.6 patches at the same time until we run out?
Avatar n tn She has since tested negative for H Pylori, and has been taken off Razadyne(24 mg ) for memory problems, put on Exelon (6mg patch), then taken off it after two weeks and more nausea. She has been off the Exelon patch for 72 hours, and still experiences nausea when she moves about. Still puzzling and frustrating. doctors are stumped (still) and I am feeling worthless because I cannot help her kick the nausea or find the cause. Really looking for help here. Any will be gratefully accepted.
Avatar f tn t calming her down any, and she did not refil the prescription. 2 months later she had another bad dream and the doctor was notified. He then prescribed exelon. My question: If she does not have Alzheimer's disease, why would he prescribe either of these medicines for her? If this is dimentia, aren't there other drugs out there for that or even drugs that have a claming effect? From what I have read about excelon, I am not sure if it is compatible with her heart medication.
Avatar f tn I feel at such a loss in trying to help my Mother. I've gone back to Neurologist and am awaiting his advise, but he doesn't appear to be emphathetic to this issue. Her GP defers to the neurologist. My 81 yr old Mother in middle to late stage Alzheimer's. She is not on any anti-anxiety med except for Paxil which was prescribed about a month ago. She gets aggitated during the day at times and especially sundowners time.

She has been off the Exelon patch for 72 hours, and still experiences nausea when she moves about. Recently, she started back on the lower dose of Razadyne. Her neurologist doesn't think the medicine is the cause of the nausea, though it could be aggrivating whatever is causing it.

Avatar m tn can i combine 225mg. of effexor xr with exelon or dexamphetamine to help my sedated or lethargic condition?
969466 tn?1247741539 If these medications are given early enough in the course of the disease, the drugs may enable people to carry out their daily activities and independent living for a longer period of time and may prolong the time that patients can be managed at home. There are also medicines available to help manage some of the most troubling symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, including depression and behavioral problems such as agitation and aggression.
Avatar n tn It would be helpful if the Exelon Patch advertisers didn't feel it was necessary to have their information on continual scroll. There is a reason why I don't read rolling credits at the end of a movie, too. They usually roll too fast to read and simply hurt my head and can trigger migraines. Most of the time I don't see rolling adds, but when I do, I'm put off. Uh...I did not search for anything that would have had anything to do with this particular advertiser.
Avatar n tn Never had a problem until now. 591470 tn?1218975186 Ask your Psychiatrist about the new MAOI Patch that is now avalible. It's an MAOI in a transdermal patch form. With this new method of delivery, much of the food interaction risk is removed because the drug is delivered thru the skin rather than by tablet thru the digestive system. This new patch is sometimes a good alternative for people that can not tolerate SSRI and SNRI medications.
Avatar f tn I and many of my patients are unable to take opiate medications due to intense, long acting itching all over. Antihistamines don't help. What are some alternative oral pain meds and what can be used to stop the itching?
464219 tn?1206800222 t hear about a lot about the usage of the Morphine Patch. The Fentanyl Patch appears to be more commonly prescribed which is not morphine. It is 100 times more potent than Morphine. In my opinion I would certainly give them a try. The Morphine should cover for the former amount of Hydrocodone you were taking. Indeed it should be more effective. Physicians look kinder upon patients that are compliant with their wishes.
82861 tn?1333453911 As an aside for any of your patients who find the gel patch wears off in 2 days rather than 3 - try the Mylan version. For me, they last the full 3 days with no problem. Sadly, the bad press in the media regarding fentanyl abuse scares away people who legitimately could benefit from the patch. I read a lot of posts here at MH that scream, "Fenanyl is 81 times stronger than morphine! It can KILL you!
Avatar n tn I would suggest you to discuss this with your treating doctor as you may need a repeat blood patch. In many cases repeat blood patch is successful in curing the headache. Hope this helps!
Avatar f tn well, you have wound up in a MS chat room for patients to patients. I would suggest calling where you had it done. Perhaps more caffeine and whatever medication they told you that you could take. Unfortunately I have never had a blood patch, so can't help you there!
Avatar m tn The fourth case was a 7-year-old boy with typical erythema migrans on the right check and neck while the fifth case, a 30-year-old housewife, presented with an erythematous patch with a central papule on the right buttock. These patients were treated with oral amoxycillin 25 mg/kg, thrice daily for 14 days. All patients showed IgM antibodies to B. burgdorferi. Treatment led to clearance of lesions in all the patients.
1412606 tn?1282882129 Ok, so the last time I saw my doctor about 2 months ago, she decided to put me on MS Contin 15 mg 3x day. I was already taking 2 5/325 percocets 3 x a day, but I went in because it wasn't enough. It never has been enough. She always gave me muscle relaxers for the nights, because she didn't want to give me anymore percocets, but I still wake up in pain. They don't work at all. So I finally went in and she put me on the MS Contins.
Avatar f tn As for other reasons u might reject the patch, I am not sure...I just know about the EDS and that TCI checks all patients for it bcuz of issues with rejection.
Avatar f tn I am glad your getting some relief from the patch and not feeling so out of it. The patch has problems staying on according to everyone I have heard that uses it. One of our members and CLs in another group suggest a transdermal patch which they make in a sports formula and she says it stays put! I am sure she will be on soon and will tell you more about it. I have never tried the patch though I hear it doe provide relief for alot of CP sufferers.
Avatar n tn Hi...I should think nothing bad....when I had my daughter I was given an epidural....u must lie flat for over an hour afterward and in recovery some student nurse came and pulled me into a sitting position...I quickly laid back down, however the damage was done and I had the headaches.....for 5 days...very bad, nasuesa, ate lying down bad. ne way, if on the 5th day I still had a headache, they were going to inject blood into the SC.
