Common Questions and Answers about Exelon patch how it works

exelon

Avatar n tn The Novartis patch, called Exelon, was previously approved for patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and it remains the only federally approved patch for the disease.
Avatar n tn My husband has been prescibed the the 9.5 exelon patch but we still have a supply of the 4.6 patches. With them being so expensive can I use two of the 4.6 patches at the same time until we run out?
Avatar f tn m sure the NP went over it with me, but my memory is totally shot.) I am just not sure exactly how the Fentanyl patch works. I know it releases the medicine through your skin over a period of hours. I started out changing it every 72 but she changed it to every 48. What I'm wondering is, if I were to take it off and not put another one on, how long would the medicine still work? I am pretty sure when she started me on this she said it takes about 12 hours to kick in.
Avatar n tn She has since tested negative for H Pylori, and has been taken off Razadyne(24 mg ) for memory problems, put on Exelon (6mg patch), then taken off it after two weeks and more nausea. She has been off the Exelon patch for 72 hours, and still experiences nausea when she moves about. Still puzzling and frustrating. doctors are stumped (still) and I am feeling worthless because I cannot help her kick the nausea or find the cause. Really looking for help here. Any will be gratefully accepted.
Avatar f tn she thought were so real. Additionally, when she focused on a subject she could not let it go until someone helped her make sense of it. Often she has had angry outbursts over the past few years also, has been afraid of descending stairways, falling, and dark places. Mother is in her late 90s now, but this has been going on for over 10 years. Recently she went to see a neurologist who took a blood test and ordered a brain scan.

Her neurologist doesn't think the medicine is the cause of the nausea, though it could be aggrivating whatever is causing it.
Avatar n tn It would be helpful if the Exelon Patch advertisers didn't feel it was necessary to have their information on continual scroll. There is a reason why I don't read rolling credits at the end of a movie, too. They usually roll too fast to read and simply hurt my head and can trigger migraines. Most of the time I don't see rolling adds, but when I do, I'm put off. Uh...I did not search for anything that would have had anything to do with this particular advertiser.
Avatar f tn About a month before his birthday we decided to try for another since about 3 months before that I had my implanon taken out cuz it had expired. We tryed really hard for about 3-4 months but it just wasnt happening. So in late June we decided it was getting too late and we didnt want our children to be that far apart in age. I was disappointed but I just thought it wasnt meant to happen.
Avatar f tn Dr prescribed him Exelon and was an excellent patch, did not have side effect but he can not go without it even a day, it is easier to manage him. The previouse test his marks dropped to 16pts from 17. Dr prescribed Ebixa, this is only his fourth day but so far so good. This afternoon he broke into tears for his cousin and he calmed down. He still can shower himself but he has his underweare on if I am not there to help him. He put thick jacket on in summer time.
Avatar f tn Is Estrace otc or prescription? How long have you been taking it and how long before you started feeling better after you started taking it?
Avatar m tn thanx guys
973726 tn?1344253991 I am waiting on approval from my insurance company for a Spinal Cord Stimulator (SCS). Has anybody had this done? How does it feel? The related support videos only tell success stories but briefly mention it is not for everyone. After 10 years of opiates I am worried about the w/d effects just to find out if the SCS will work for me. Any advice and experience comments are more than welcome.
Avatar f tn I Just ordered off this site called withdrawal-ease.com and it's $89 for 2 bottles one for night time and one for day. Th Thomas recipe isn't helping me. I was going to order te amino acid protocol but I got everything into my cart on GNC.com and it was $150!! And it was missing 2 items they didn't carry it. So it will be here in 2-3 days. I will take it and let everyone know. I hope it works. It could save a lot of us from the pain! Check out the website:) www.withdrawal-ease.com!
8976007 tn?1413330650 I asked my Doc to take me off of it, it was killing me in every respect. It took me 3-4 months to wean off of it but I did it. Unfortunately for you, switching to a different drug will not ease the depression for you. The only thing that will help the depression is getting off all opiates. I now use Cymbalta for my pain and it really works. My pain meds were actually causing me so much more pain than I actually had and was shocked at how I felt after stopping the opiates.
Avatar f tn I will have to go back and see if I can find that one. It was really interesting. Seems to be all upside down in the way it works as to the way you would think it did. I alwasys thought when stocks were way up, it was a good thing. I will have to see if I can find it or the link to it so ya all can have a look see.
Avatar f tn Hi Caiti, BuTrans Patch is fairly new to the market. I'll be interested to hear how it works for you. The components are similar to the that of Subutex and Suboxone. The active ingredient in the Bu Trans Transdermal System is buprenorphine just as found in Subutex and Suboxone. I'm wondering the strength of the patch. If you are considered an opioid-naïve patient the dose is usually began at 5mg. However if you've been on opiates for some time than they usually begin at 10mg.
Avatar f tn I feel at such a loss in trying to help my Mother. I've gone back to Neurologist and am awaiting his advise, but he doesn't appear to be emphathetic to this issue. Her GP defers to the neurologist. My 81 yr old Mother in middle to late stage Alzheimer's. She is not on any anti-anxiety med except for Paxil which was prescribed about a month ago. She gets aggitated during the day at times and especially sundowners time.
1407923 tn?1281364009 Good morning...I say that trying to be positive at the moment, but I do wish everyone a good day! I've ben on fentanyl 25mg patches since July21. Like I read from others, I've wasted a couple of patches, one I messed up trying to get it on & wrinkled it too much. The second, I felt very paranoid, almost like i was losing touch with reality. Called the dr., he said take if off and allow six hours for it to get out of my system, but he didn't really think it was the patch.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know how long it takes to feel the effect of the pain patch?
559187 tn?1330782856 I am so sorry you have this stinken' headache. I have had it twice, and it is the worst. The first time I waited too long; about four days before I went in. I had relief within the hour. The second time, I waited only about a day, because I knew what I had been through the first time. I don't know how long it takes for it to go away on its own; I have heard it can be upwards of two weeks.
391038 tn?1298737386 t the real answer, but it does provide an option....an option not taken, is how I look at it. I am 60 and have been in pain (at varyling levels and varying places) for over 15 years. My thoughts (for what they are worth) include (1) traditional pain killers rarely help with this kind of pain, and (2) they are horribly addicitve. After trying to find one that works we are faced with continued pain, sometimes at a higher level, AND an addiction to prescription painkillers.
Avatar n tn or ask if you can sit in the office one day as a stand by (you could also just show up and tell them you want to stand by and then do it regardless of what they say) - that often works. You might want to taper off the exertion as well until you've been seen. Best of luck.
424675 tn?1260541350 so I guess my question is has my tolerance decreased to the poiint that this patch will hurt or kill me?? I know it was stupid of me to take them too fast and I know its not too bright to take a med that wasnt prescribed to me... I am in withdrawal and I cannot take the pain... if anyone can offer me any insight into this Id appreciate it..
