Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen patch ivf

Avatar f tn They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you? Did it mean you weren't pregnant? I am being paranoid or should I prepare myself for the worst? I have had IUI twice and this is my first IVF.
Avatar f tn Hi Kah, hey thanks soooo much for sharing your experience. I was supposed to take Estrace patch every alternate day and I got soo scared when I had chest pain. I just got a call back from my RE and you know what they said? They are saying the pain should not have come and it's highly unlikely that the estrogen patch caused it!! I didn't even speak to my RE, just her nurse asst. They told me to discontinue the patch.
Avatar f tn Had my first blood test and my progesterone is 84 and estrogen at 47. I was told estrogen is low, to increase from 1 estrogen patch to 3 and I'm freaking out wondering if this will affect the outcome of things. During the 2WW I've had mild cramps and other minimal symptoms and wonder if what I'm feeling or not is a good/bad sign. Anyone with similar numbers? Do you know if low estrogen levels affect the implantation process?? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!! Good luck to all!!
945508 tn?1259156758 //www.ivfmd.net/Treatment/treatment2.htm Make sure your RE is monitoring your estrogen level after your transfer and not waiting until your hcg...
Avatar n tn Ok, any advise would be great. I had my transfer yesterday morning, and today I was instructed to start my Vivelle patches. Does anyone know where they are supposed to be applied? I was kinda out of it on my muscle relaxer, so I think they told me stomach or arms are ok...is that right? Thanks so much...it's just all so confusing...Let's hope this IVF takes and I won't have to be a science experiement again next cycle...
Avatar f tn I think that stress is very common after ivf transfer. We put so much of our hopes on ivf! Some people try to take a vacation and relax but it's difficult. I am sure it does not affect implantation. My dr put me on estrogen pills w/o checking for my estradiol levels. I started taking them right after transfer (I had a day 3 transfer). I don't think you should be concerned. Good luck to you! I hope ivf works for you.
Avatar f tn I am on my second ivf attempt using donor eggs. I am on estrogen pill, patch, progesterone caps and progesterone shots. Anybody with positive outcomes? They transfered 2 embryos on Aug 13. I am so frustrated- yet hopeful this works.
Avatar f tn Can l get pregnant naturally or must l have to go for IVF. lf IVF can l still use my own eggs. l will appreciate any advice, thank. This discussion is related to estrogen and fsh question.
898000 tn?1242956625 I took it until 11 weeks when I stopped both estrogen and progesterone. My RE did say, however, that the estrogen is not nearly as important as the progesterone, and like Helen said, some women don't use it at all. I was on the patch, so I basically just changed it every 3 days. wfaMiracle: It also says not to take progesterone while pregnant, but without it, an IVF pregnancy would most likely fail. So it's totally fine to take both hormones in early pregnancy.
Avatar f tn We had our IVF transfer on June 18th - two 8 cell, top grade embryos transferred after three days. I've had sore breasts since the transfer ( and before) and fiigured that was from the progesterone but it has been coming and going in the last day. Also, yesterday, I had some mild pains on the sides and below my belly button and today, I feel like I do when my period is about to start - tired, pain in my uterus and legs, cloudy........
Avatar f tn Yes you are right everyone is different. The three IVF cycles I had I was on ovarian stimulation medication for 10 days. They can increase or decrease the medication depending on your progress when you go in for your ultrasound and bloodwork. There are meds that you will have to take near transfer time to and for about 10 weeks to help sustain the pregnancy. Estrogen, progesterone, baby aspirin are the common ones.
1052633 tn?1311872678 s going to affect my ability to have a successful IVF procedure. has anybody else been diagnosed with high estrogen but had a successful IVF?
Avatar f tn My RE has me wear an estrogen patch, which I change every 3 days until AF arrives, then I leave it on until it either falls off or I trigger. My estrogen level is fine, but he wants to give it a little boost at the on-set of taking the meds. So, I will start the patch tomorrow, then take a ganirelix shot on Wed, Thurs and Friday. Wait for AF to show, go in for baseline blood and u/s and then start meds.
215752 tn?1278004771 That is the wrong info, it 100% happens and is happening to me, And is not from low progesterone! It is from IVF meds like Femara, Estrogen Patch, Menopur.
Avatar f tn I have some ideas abt Ivf but not iui , cause am doing Ivf day 7 on meds and am really worried didn't get so good news yesterday.
Avatar n tn Well, the doctor who did my transfer told me to take 2 estrodial per day and 3 prometrium per day and shot of progesterone every other day and I wasn't due to go back until my pregnancy test 10/7. However, I was unhappy with several lapses in care that I received along the process so I switched and they immediately started doing my blood levels every 3-4 days. I guess it helps them to keep your hormones where they need to be to support pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Estrogen causes some of the glands in the breast tissue to swell .Birth control patch causes consistent release of estrogen which causes elevated estrogen levels throughout the body making the breasts become larger. If you are too concerned it will be best to discuss it with your gynecologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar f tn Heather is correct, after my IVF I was not monitored for estrogen at all. I had estrogen supplements once a day but that wsa it.
778044 tn?1299542934 I have a question for anyone using the Ortho Evra Patch to help control their endometriosis. It says right on the box that you are exposed to 60% more estrogen using the patch then other birth control pills. Since estrogen "feeds" endometriosis, how does this make sense? I have been advised by my doctor after 6 months of Lupron injections, to use the patch consistantly (not having a patch off week and not getting a period) until we are ready to get pregnant.
429647 tn?1249753429 my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.
Avatar f tn I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend. Is Premarin dangerous (risk of DVT).
Avatar f tn Oh definitely - headaches can be caused by ovarian hormone changes. Since your only ovary was removed two months ago, you may still have some of your body's own estrogen and the patch may be giving you too much. Or the fluctuations of the patch may be the cause of your headaches. The problem is that every woman who has hormonally triggered headaches is different and what works for one may or may not work for another. So it is a matter of trial and error to find what works best.
385161 tn?1270081218 The doc says its ok to do all of these proceedures for IVF on the patch but I was wondering if anyone has heard of this being ok, or if I should get a second doctors opinion etc. I am sure all of you ladies are non smokers (ttc'ers all know its bad to smoke) ;however I wonder if anyone is in the same boat as me. If so advice is much appreciated.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry about your cancelled cycle. You will probably still ovulate on yopur own (if you normally do). I would use OPK's or an Ov. monitor to make sure. Did your RE say he was going to change your protocol for your next IVF attempt?
