Estrogen patch for ivf

Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen patch for ivf

Avatar f tn They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you? Did it mean you weren't pregnant? I am being paranoid or should I prepare myself for the worst? I have had IUI twice and this is my first IVF.
Avatar f tn Hi Kah, hey thanks soooo much for sharing your experience. I was supposed to take Estrace patch every alternate day and I got soo scared when I had chest pain. I just got a call back from my RE and you know what they said? They are saying the pain should not have come and it's highly unlikely that the estrogen patch caused it!! I didn't even speak to my RE, just her nurse asst. They told me to discontinue the patch.
Avatar f tn Had my first blood test and my progesterone is 84 and estrogen at 47. I was told estrogen is low, to increase from 1 estrogen patch to 3 and I'm freaking out wondering if this will affect the outcome of things. During the 2WW I've had mild cramps and other minimal symptoms and wonder if what I'm feeling or not is a good/bad sign. Anyone with similar numbers? Do you know if low estrogen levels affect the implantation process?? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!! Good luck to all!!
945508 tn?1259156758 //www.ivfmd.net/Treatment/treatment2.htm Make sure your RE is monitoring your estrogen level after your transfer and not waiting until your hcg...
215752 tn?1278004771 That is the wrong info, it 100% happens and is happening to me, And is not from low progesterone! It is from IVF meds like Femara, Estrogen Patch, Menopur.
216278 tn?1308861082 I wore Estradiol patches - actually several of them - before getting pregnant in order to thicken my lining in preparation for conception (we did IVF). I doubt that wearing the patch would hinder your chances - I would think it would do the opposite but I'm no medical expert. As I said, I wore the patches for a different reason but I would think the result would be the same. What does your doctor say?
Avatar f tn I think that stress is very common after ivf transfer. We put so much of our hopes on ivf! Some people try to take a vacation and relax but it's difficult. I am sure it does not affect implantation. My dr put me on estrogen pills w/o checking for my estradiol levels. I started taking them right after transfer (I had a day 3 transfer). I don't think you should be concerned. Good luck to you! I hope ivf works for you.
Avatar n tn Ok, any advise would be great. I had my transfer yesterday morning, and today I was instructed to start my Vivelle patches. Does anyone know where they are supposed to be applied? I was kinda out of it on my muscle relaxer, so I think they told me stomach or arms are ok...is that right? Thanks so much...it's just all so confusing...Let's hope this IVF takes and I won't have to be a science experiement again next cycle...
Avatar f tn hello all- I am going bonkers waiting for Monday (Aug 25) to come. I am on my second ivf attempt using donor eggs. I am on estrogen pill, patch, progesterone caps and progesterone shots. Anybody with positive outcomes? They transfered 2 embryos on Aug 13. I am so frustrated- yet hopeful this works.
189192 tn?1261341628 I went through ivf and was taking estrogen to thicken the lining after my retrieval (i.e. after O). Since implantation does not happen for a few days after O I guess estrogen has time to do its magic. My lining on the day of my retrieval was not very thick (around 7.5) but my ob did not seem to be all that concerned. I was taking estrogen pills because it's what all ivf patients do not because he thought there was a problem. I got my bfp so I guess he was right.
Avatar f tn Can l get pregnant naturally or must l have to go for IVF. lf IVF can l still use my own eggs. l will appreciate any advice, thank. This discussion is related to estrogen and fsh question.
898000 tn?1242956625 I took it until 11 weeks when I stopped both estrogen and progesterone. My RE did say, however, that the estrogen is not nearly as important as the progesterone, and like Helen said, some women don't use it at all. I was on the patch, so I basically just changed it every 3 days. wfaMiracle: It also says not to take progesterone while pregnant, but without it, an IVF pregnancy would most likely fail. So it's totally fine to take both hormones in early pregnancy.
Avatar f tn My retrieval is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10:30am. I triggered last night at 10:30pm. For the past day and a half though, I've been getting a ton of the egg white cervical mucous. I'm so nervous that I'm going to accidently ovulate before retrieval. Is the egg white cervical mucous (EWCM) normal during the IVF cycle? I've heard we get EWCM because of elevated estrogen levels, which anyone going through IVF obviously has, but I just want to make sure.
Avatar f tn s going to prescribe me hormones to inject and take orally to prepare my body for IVF. I know all cases are different but how long did you have to take those pills and/or hormone injections before your Dr began the actual IVF?
Avatar f tn I am on an estridol patch for another week and crinone gel. THank you - I needed to know that this is normal. I wonder if it's allergies too....they are crazy right now! Dang cottonwoods.....
1052633 tn?1311872678 s going to affect my ability to have a successful IVF procedure. has anybody else been diagnosed with high estrogen but had a successful IVF?
Avatar f tn m 33 and not a good responder to the tratments. Out of all the fertility medicines I had to take for ivf Follistim and repronex work the best for me. Keep me posted on how you are doing during your cycle. Good Luck!!! Helen5- Thankyou. I'm really hoping this is the year for DH and I. It gives me hope to see all these BFP in this forum. Where are you at in your cycle?
216278 tn?1308861082 Hi! I am 2dpo and I started an Estradiol patch today to wear for the next week and a half. Of course, I am starting to second guess everything (typical start of my tww) Does anyone know if this could raise my estrogen TOO much, thus hurting my chances for pregnancy? I have posted a picture of the graph of my hormone levels when they did the full panel and I put the numbers in a journal to correspond with it!
Avatar f tn I have some ideas abt Ivf but not iui , cause am doing Ivf day 7 on meds and am really worried didn't get so good news yesterday.
Avatar f tn How is your estrogen and your DHEA-S? When your doc tests your testosterone, does he test bio-available testosterone, and does the doc test sex binding hormones, LH, FSH, to get the entire pic of your androgens and how your body is using the testosterone? Estrogen and testosterone and very very closely related - so it could be that your testosterone is simply converting over to estrogen instead of staying as testosterone. This cannot be controlled really - it just happens.
Avatar n tn Well, the doctor who did my transfer told me to take 2 estrodial per day and 3 prometrium per day and shot of progesterone every other day and I wasn't due to go back until my pregnancy test 10/7. However, I was unhappy with several lapses in care that I received along the process so I switched and they immediately started doing my blood levels every 3-4 days. I guess it helps them to keep your hormones where they need to be to support pregnancy.
404837 tn?1290609027 it is thinning the lining. Anyway, I went back for a second u/s and it has thickened a bit...however he gave me estrogen, Enjuvia, at .625 mg. He told me to take it until I get my surge. Which will probably be about 3 days. Is estrogen safe and has anybody ever had to do this?
Avatar f tn t get pregnant after four to six cycles on an ovulatory dose of clomid, seek referral to a fertility specialist, who will discuss treatment either with shots of FSH or with IVF. adding estrogen and/or progesterone in the latter part of the cycle after taking clomid also can help, and may be a reasonable alternative to moving on to more advanced therapy. clomid can be a double edged sword- it helps you ovulate, but also may disrupt your uterine lining.
Avatar f tn Heather is correct, after my IVF I was not monitored for estrogen at all. I had estrogen supplements once a day but that wsa it.
Avatar f tn Estrogen causes some of the glands in the breast tissue to swell .Birth control patch causes consistent release of estrogen which causes elevated estrogen levels throughout the body making the breasts become larger. If you are too concerned it will be best to discuss it with your gynecologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
