Avatar f tn But I have visual migraines that cause me to. E on a low estrogen kind of birth control, so it was that, pill, arm implant, or iud. I did the pill for a while, but I'm not responsible enough to take it daily at the same time.
Avatar f tn Each woman is different. For me, I couldn't take pills that had progesterone and Estrogen in them. I would get severe migraines. Now because I have a blood clotting disorder, I have to stay away from estrogen. A lot of estrogen pills cause blood clots. I took the shot many years ago but hated it because I gained weight that you never lose.
Avatar f tn What is the best birth control after i have my baby this will be my 3rd and i dont want to get my tubes tide
Avatar f tn I have some info on my profile about breastfeeding as a form of birth control. It's in my 'journals'. My midwife told me that estrogen free birth control is the safest while nursing. Estrogen can dry up your milk and if it doesn't, might cause issues with baby. Estrogen free versions include the paragaurd iud, the depo shot, and the 'mini pill' (progesterone only daily pill). I'd definitely decide what you want to do before baby comes!
Avatar f tn m going to have her try going on birth control pills to see if it will alleviate some of these issues. She is not sexually active and this was totally MY idea. She's very hesitant about it but wants to discuss the pros and cons with the gynocologist. I've made her an appt. for the middle of June but in the meantime I'd like to get informed since it's been years since I've been on the pill and I'm sure they are much better now.
Avatar m tn m not a doctor and I have no experience with medicine, but from what I have researched online about the hormones that control your menstrual cycle, and from my experience taking birth control, you could be having symptoms of estrogen dominance as withdrawal from taking birth control. It is easy enough from the North American diet for the body to produce more estrogen than it does progesterone. Both of these hormones need to be in your body for you to get your period.
7677085 tn?1395374075 I didn't bleed at all on the shot @MrsAliciaWeat, but I did gain about sixty pounds the six months I was on it. @kelleyrenee, does the patch have estrogen? I'm interested but I can't use an estrogen based birth control while nursing. When women say their birth control dried them up it's typically due to the estrogen, so my midwife doesn't ever offer estrogen options to her patients that breastfeed.
Avatar n tn suggested that she discontinue her birth control pill which contains 35 mcg. estrogen. The head aches occur during her period and the pill days, too. Is there a birth control pill that does not cause migrains? She was on the 25 mcg "low" estrogen pill, but she had an ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn I wanted to know what type of birth control you ladies planned on using after you delivered your babies....i pretty torn i dont know if i want to do the pills or the depo shot...
1754037 tn?1327886811 wanted to try the nuva ring but was told it has estrogen in it and im breast feeding i cant use it since it would drasticslly decrease milk production thoght about implanon but decided to try mirena again hopefully wont have a problem this time sine dr said it usually doesnt CAUSE cysts i probably already had it and it got worst so ill give it another shot since i liked it up until i started having excruciating pain....
Avatar n tn I was told that usually women who have taken birth control pills show these changes in the liver (I guess due to increases in estrogen levels). But, I've never taken birth control pills and I am wondering why I have them. I was told that as long as they were not compromising the function of my liver to not worry about them and to have another ultrasound in 3 months. I'm not someone who just sits around and waits for something to get worse before doing something.
Avatar f tn Which birth control do u guys recommand the best after delivery? ... I was thinking Mirena but still undecided.. P.
Avatar f tn fixed migraines but have me daily headaches, joint pain, dryness, and terrible mood swings and back pain (I'm still going to physio. Does low oestrogen cause back spams? ? Mine hasn't let go). 2. Norimin 28: fatigue, lethargy, feelings of self loathing and anxiety. My endo did sex hormone tests but I won't see her until June and i think I'm ready to try another birth control pill. I hear sometimes it takes many tries to find the perfect one.
280418 tn?1306325910 However, it is generally recommended that if the migraines occur after taking the birth control pills, they should be stopped. Also, a woman with migraine has a 4 fold increased risk of developing stroke, and this risk increases 7 fold if that woman uses a low dose estrogen containing birth control method. This is why females with migraines should not use any estrogen containing birth control methods.
Avatar f tn I'm on the mini-pill too and from what I understand, it's CRUCIAL that it be taken at the SAME time every day. Both my GP and my pharmacist made sure I knew that.....plus it's all over the literature that came with my pills in big BOLD print, lol. My husband and I also use condoms. We feel that our family is complete so my husband is going to be getting a vasectomy - we're just waiting to hear back from our GP's office regarding his appointment with the specialist.
Avatar n tn Taking any type of estrogen can cause you to need an increase in thyroid hormone meds.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Oral contraceptives and birth control pills contain estrogen. There may be an initial increase in hair growth or reduction in hair loss experienced by few women when they start taking birth control pills or estrogen replacement pills. Since you have been taking it continuously estrogen levels will stabilize and the natural hair growth cycle might be restored. Long term use of hormonal contraceptives should be discouraged.
Avatar n tn Hi there .. I was told by my Gyno that taking Birth Controll Pills after age of 40 is not a very good idea especially after dx of carcinoma estrogen fed. Don't hasitate to ask questions about that or Google it on internet and see for your sake what people/specialists are talking about. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn I HATE birth control! My body goes crazy on it. I tried Nuvaring and developed a cyst in each one of my breasts. My oldest sister can't have kids due to being on the depo for 7 years but my Mom got pregnant 3 times on depo. It is different for everyone so you just have to explore your options.
1209036 tn?1299178657 MOST women do not ovulate during breastfeeding therefore they do not have a period. This is NOT fool proof becuase some women DO ovulate, I was breastfeeding my youngest daughter, did NOT get a period and ended up pregnant with my oldest son when she was 5 mos old. OOPS! As for being extra fertile after giving birth, that's dependant on numerous factors...breastfeeding, your particular fertility, how fast your body reregulates itself.
Avatar f tn ( plus, they can go very wrong in really nasty ways. I was on birth control but have since found out that is no longer an option. So that leaves natural family planning methods or condoms/spermicide.
Avatar f tn Hi, my daughter was put on birth control to regulate her periods and for her acne, which was really bad. She was 17 at the time. She was put on the regular pill that everyone starts off with I believe, ortho something or other. Worked great on regulating her periods AND her acne. The nausea started shortly thereafter and the vomiting....................
Avatar f tn While breastfeeding my doctor gave me the pills either with low estrogen or no estrogen I can't remember and I was fine..
Avatar f tn What birth control products are you ladies considering after delivering (if you're considering)
