Avatar n tn I took an Elisa test and it was positive and I took a Western Blot test and it was negative. The syphilis test was negative. So I am taking another Elisa, Western Blot and PCR test. What are my chances of these tests being positive???
Avatar n tn i live in the us and had an elisa antibody test at 7 weeks 9 weeks and 13 weeks which all tested negative. i still get leary on the whole 6 month test. is the elisa here accurate This discussion is related to A different question.
Avatar n tn The duo test IS an ELISA, combined with a test for HIV p24 antigen. If a duo test is positive at 7 weeks, it is because HIV antibody is present. Therefore, an ELISA antibody test will always be positive in that circumstance. If your duo test is positive, there is no point to repeating an ELISA; you have HIV and that's all there is to it. If so, you need to immediately make an appointment with a doctor or clinic for proper medical care.

Avatar n tn will an ELISA test detect all strains of HIV including groups N and O and all CRF's???
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
Avatar n tn Dear Doc, I had protected sex until I realized at the end, that the condom broke. At day 28 I did a PCR DNA Test and it came out negative, and at day 75 I did an ELISA test, and it came out Negative, should I do another test? I read in some areas on the web where it says at 13 weeks ELISA test is conclusive, and then in some areas it is stated that 10 weeks is sufficient, what is the difference. The partner was Sex worker.

Avatar m tn There is a lot of new tests but elisa is just the type of test, there are 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation of elisas, and there continue to be a lot of research for new tests, the newest teste tend to be rapid test accurate as elsia tests, there has been also improvement also in the NAAT tests, and some labs are trying to come up with a new 5th generation rapid test (PCR+Antibody+p24) but is not ready yet.

Avatar n tn Dear Doc (and forum readers), About a week or so ago I needed to get a medical check for work. When I got my results back, I was shocked to be told that the Elisa test came back as HIV reactive at 1.52. They tested it twice. I really have no idea what that number stands for, though. I don't have sex. No girlfriend. And I don't sleep with street workers. As far as I can remember, I have not come into contact with blood (except when killing mosquitoes).

Avatar m tn with refer to no.1. it seems HIV antigen (for ELISA test) could withstand for long period after taken out from human body? In addition, may I know what should do and dont's before blood sampling for ELISA test for HIV? e.g. fasting, take medicine, smoking, sufficient sleep, no fever etc....
Avatar m tn The manufacturer of the most commonly used HSV antibody test in the US (HerpeSelect brand, produced by Focus Technologies) submitted data to the us Food and Drug Administration that showed that results with ELISA ratio values over 1.1 were positive for HSV-2. Later research showed that values between 1.1 and 3.5 often are false positive; the lower the value, the more likely the result is false, even though technically positive.
Avatar m tn There are NO Duo tests in the US. Period. A standard P24 test and ELISA tests are ran on two difference tests which with a Duo test they are ran together. Mass. tests are Not conclusive for a REAL exposure until 3 months. To correct you the 3 month window period was in April 2004 and is where it stands today. There are NO doctors that can change the window or testing guidelines. The guidelines are set by the Mfg of the tests and the FDA.
