Elisa test for plant viruses

Common Questions and Answers about Elisa test for plant viruses

elisa-test

Avatar f tn Does not LOOK FOR the antibody (as the ELISA or ECLIA tests) it looks for the viruses composition of their RNA (ribonucleic acid). This can detect early infection stage. IS A DOCTOR HERE TO ANSWER ME ABOUT THIS KIND OF TEST: PCR FOR HIV?
Avatar m tn I had a HERPES ELISA HSV Blood test (non-specific type). It is an IGG test. It came back negative. Is an IGG ELisa test still reliable even though non-specific type? I am worried my 2 negatives mean nothing now?
Avatar m tn I can not find anything that suggests there is an Elispot herpes test. Make sure the clinic has the correct test. There is one for the Epstein–Barr virus, which is a member of the herpes family of viruses, but it is NOT the herpes simplex test you need. If the ELISA they offer is a type specific IgG test, that's very accurate. It's not as accurate as the WB, but nothing is. The hsv1 IgG test misses 30% of infections, and 8% of hsv2 infections. You already got the IgG test.
Avatar m tn 1 percent of the population is a low incidence of hiv, every elisa test is good at 3 months, that you have been told already, with each generation of test they get to detect a little bit earlier, elisa has been used to detect many viruses other than hiv, its an extremely reliable way to test for a virus, to culture for the virus takes to long. i doubt if they still use first generation test unless its home access test, also rapid test like oraquick are equilivant to 2 nd gen testing.
Avatar f tn can some one help please ?
Avatar f tn Most Elisa tests detect antibodies accurate 99.9% in 3 to 6 months. That is in the case of HIV 1/2 where the body produces nutrients or something to fight the viruses. There are other tests such as PCR by DNA (HIV 1 only) or NAAT (Both HIV 1/2) that look for the HIV virus itself, but not are FDA approved. These are only used for those who are only HIV positive in accordance with some webpages, and medical stuff.
Avatar m tn I am a college student and I recently was conducting some chemistry work in a lab with wastewater from a sewage/wastewater treatment plant. We were advised to wear gloves throughout the whole process, but I stupidely chose to handle some of the wastewater without gloves, and spilled some on my hand, perhaps more than once.
Avatar m tn I recommend you be retested with both the Western Blot and Elisa test one more time. The Western Blot is the more DEFINITIVE test for HIV than the Elisa. It can take up to 6 months after exposure for your body to build up antibodies to the virus and show a Positive result. With the Western Blot being done at 4 months, but not after 6 months, you may not have built up those antibodies yet so your test at 4 months could have read Negative when you were in fact Positive.
Avatar m tn EXCEPT gp31, ALL BANDS POSITIVE IN 2010, BUT IN FEB 2013 ONLY ENV BANDS POSITIVE, AGAIN IN AUG 2013 ONLY ENV BANDS POSITIVE.. IS THIS NORMAL VARIATION IN WB TEST. OR FALSE POSITIVE FOR ENV BANDS.? PLS GIVE YOUR VALUABLE OPINION..
Avatar f tn Can anyone explain when they test for hiv 1/2 they automatically only use a hiv type1 western blot? Is it because this test will detect both viruses? And if it comes back indeterminate is that when they test for hiv 2?
Avatar n tn Anyway, when I went in to get a confirmation test done, via Western blot, I noticed my medical forms said my test showed the numeric value for the first blood test was between 1 and 3 or so. I waited about 2.5 weeks to hear back from my Western blot test, which just came in the other day. This test showed I was negative for both HSV-1 and HSV-2.
Avatar n tn Thanks Teak for answering that question,i wasnt sure about that one. I hope i have answered the rest correctly?have I?
Avatar n tn Do you Know if the ELISA test is sensitive to other types of viruses, becuase I ve had herpes aurius for a long time. Will this affect the test results? About othe other stds, do you know when is a good time to get tested? I ask this because of the incubation periods, etc.
Avatar m tn Had this been your only test, I would have concluded for sure you are infected with both viruses. The same conclusion is warranted for the re-run test, i.e. the 3.92 value. These results ARE the IgG test outcomes. (HerpeSelect is an IgG test.) That you have had no symptoms doesn't influence me at all; most HSV infections are completely asymptomatic.
Avatar m tn Since HCMV is one of TORCH infections, the serology test may imply the following: The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (or ELISA) is the most commonly available serologic test for measuring antibody to CMV. The result can be used to determine if acute infection, prior infection, or passively acquired maternal antibody in an infant is present. Other tests include various fluorescence assays, indirect hemagglutination, (PCR) and latex agglutination.
Avatar n tn i am on orlistat for sometime now... would it effect the result of elisa test for hiv...
Avatar f tn So, as long as I get an ELISA test and get negative result 3 months post exposure, it means I ain't infected by any type, subtype or group of HIV, right?
Avatar m tn Holodniy The possibility would be extremely unlikely. HIV, like other viruses or any antigen for that matter, would cause the immune system to have a reaction. The immune system recognizes the virus as foreign and causes both a cell mediated response and antibody production. Even if antibodies were not produced, HIV would infect T cells and virus would replicate to measurable levels. HIV is not like other kinds of viruses (herpes for instance) which can have a latent or dormant state.
Avatar n tn Assuming one does not put themselves at further risk since a questionable incident, have you ever had patients test negative on an ELISA at 4 weeks and positive on a subsequent test at 12 weeks? What about a negative ELISA at 6 weeks and positive at 12 weeks? Thanks for your assistance, it has been very helpful.
Avatar n tn Are these results conclusive for being negative for HIV or do I need to get another ELISA again on 90 days post? The odds I've figured for myself are about 1/20,000,000,000 which makes me feel pretty good (using 3% incidence which is probably very high in the first place). I've also read that the difference between 82 and 90 days is irrelevant. However, it's just one of those things where a very slight possibility still seems uncomfortable.
